Are these heart attack symptoms?

I don't know if I'm being daft or not.
For a few months I've had chest discomfort and a stinging pain every now and then. One night it woke me up.
It's been happening more frequently along with a numb and tingly left arm.
Today it's been here all day. My arm has intermittent pins and needles. Ive got the mild weird discomfort in my chest and i just feel terrified for some reason. Weird and panicky.
Admittedly things between DH and i are rubbish at the moment so i don't know if it's just anxiety?

Im 44, about 3 stone overweight and i do drink Blush. Do you reckon it's worth a trip to the GP? It's really worrying me. The weird palpitations have literally just happened while I type this. I can FEEL my heart sort of wobble if that makes sense?

Meh.... im not in agony. Am i just anxious or is it heart symptoms?

I think i would get it checked at the very least

donajimena · 23/03/2019 12:19

Definitely get it checked x

AntiHop · 23/03/2019 12:20

I'm not knowledgeable about heart attack symptoms but I think it's definitely worth seeing your gp.

Yes you need to see your gp or go to a&e

pineapplebryanbrown · 23/03/2019 12:26

It could be anxiety, have you been over doing the caffeine? But GP.

Decormad38 · 23/03/2019 12:27

It could be angina so you should get checked out yes.

Kernowgal · 23/03/2019 12:28

Get on the phone to 111. They will advise you but with those symptoms I wouldn't be hanging around.

Thisisthelaststraw · 23/03/2019 12:34

Absolutely needs to be checked out. Are you post menopausal or diabetic? Heart attacks do not need to be classic in presentation. An ecg is required at the very least and then bloods.

Could be angina, anxiety, electrolyte imbalance, arrhythmia and many other things. Could be simple but because it could also be serious you get it checked straight away.

HedgerowTree · 23/03/2019 12:36

111, it could be anxiety or anything but no one on the internet can rule that out and that’s what the doctors are there for. They’ll advise you whether A&E or out of hours GP. Phone them now.

AdvancedAvoider · 23/03/2019 12:37

Any new chest pain should be investigated by a doctor. There could be any number of things causing it but it needs to be looked at by a professional.

beckslovestimmy · 23/03/2019 12:44

Call 999 if you are having a heart attack it's an emergency and needs treatment straight away to limit damage to the heart and potential heart failure in the future. The paramedics will be able to check really quickly if it's a heart attack or not. They won't mind being called. Do not wait call 999 now. 111 will just call 999 anyway. I am a cardiac care nurse

Mof3K · 23/03/2019 12:46

Thank you. I do feel like it should be checked out but would ridiculously going to A&E. Im not in agony by any means. It's just as though my left side is tingly and i have intermittent chest discomfort. It's not like a Hollywood chest clutching pain.

I haven't drunk any caffeine. I don't like coffee. I don't think i have diabetes. I am overweight but im not huge. I know if i phone 111 they'll suggest A&E. I work in the NHS id feel such a berk.
I just feel.....off.

Thank you all though. Ill certainly call if it gets worse if not its GP first thing Monday.

AdvancedAvoider · 23/03/2019 12:48

No Op you need to get it checked today.

My aunt had several small heart attacks without knowing about them. It wasn't until she had a major one that she found out.

Get seen today, not on Monday.

Mof3K · 23/03/2019 12:49

X post with @beckslovestimmy oh really Shock. Gosh id feel ridiculous. What if it's just a trapped nerve causing the arm pain.
As you work in cardiac care am i in pain enough? I know that sounds daft??? I have a mild stitch like pain now too...

A sense of doom is a classic heart attack symptom OP. Please call 111. Heart attacks can be long, mildly symptomatic events which cause more damage every hour. Call 111 sooner rather than later. Good luck and feel better soon.

Mof3K · 23/03/2019 12:50

Blimey then. So go to A&E ?
How will they tell ?

Mof3K · 23/03/2019 12:51

Ok. Thank you.

Go today. My slim fit friend in her early 50s had a heart attack - these were her symptoms. She was told that the symptoms in women are frequently missed because people expect the agonising pain as in the films and in women it’s not like that.

AdvancedAvoider · 23/03/2019 12:53

Yes A&E, they are experts. But I'd call 999 from your last post with the stitch like feeling.

Danni91 · 23/03/2019 12:53

Hi, please go to the hospital and get checked you will lose nothing by being checked out (except some of the anxiety!)
My grandad recenetly had a heart attack and he described similar feelings to what you describe during a 2 week lead up.
Obviously I say this not to worry you but to hope you go get checked! X

Danni91 · 23/03/2019 12:54

I obviously did not mean to kiss you but you can have it anyway! Lol whoops! All the best to you

Thisisthelaststraw · 23/03/2019 13:03

You should not wait until Monday!
Ring 111 now and they will most certainly advice a&e. Paramedics cannot rule out a cardiac event. They can confirm one but not rule out. A special blood test will check for heart muscle damage and that combined with symptoms (which you have) and an ecg will determine how they treat you. You do not waste precious time with this. Time is muscle.

beckslovestimmy · 23/03/2019 13:04

Women tend to present differently. Not the typical clutching of chest. The paramedics can do an ECG and sent it to your nearest specialist centre who will diagnose if it's a heart attack whilst your still at home. Even if it's not a heart attack showing on an ecg they will probably want a hospital ecg and cardiac enzyme blood test. Please don't think you wasting anyone's time, we do this all day every day, if it is a heart attack you need treatment ASAP, if not no one will feel like you've wasted their time.

Thisisthelaststraw · 23/03/2019 13:05

*advise

beckslovestimmy · 23/03/2019 13:06

Don't call 111 they will just call 999 for you
