John Taylor what happened to you?

Anyone got. Bbc4 on? He was so hot id have done anything to be Amanda de Cadenet. Well, who’d have thought Simon has ended up being the most fanciable. I hated The Reflex btw.

I have not moved on from JT cica 1982/3. Or Duran Duran the band-in the 80s.

Great memories, but they are staying there, frozen in time. Weirdly I have no interest in seeing them as a band now. If I saw them again it would need to be the 80s again. (Bonkers I know)

My memorabilia is in the attic, not sure what's going to happen to that.

I don't. I'm just glad I've experienced it all. My boys are now doing what I did, going to gigs, being young, everything is new. I'm glad for them and I'm glad I'm still here to see it.

Yes, I am just glad I had the most fantastic time in the 80s. The music, nightclubs in the middle of Birmingham every night (no need for ID back then fortunately) the dressing up, I had an absolute ball.

GinisLife Yes! That exact thought occurred to me yesterday. I was working out how long ago it was that I'd been to my very first live gig,in May 1980 (when I was 16). To my disbelief and horror,I realised that next year,it would be 40 years! Just where did all the years go?

I do find it a bit depressing. I turned 11 in 1980 so the 80s were the decade of my teen years and it doesn't actually feel all that long ago.

Duran Duran were the first band I saw live, they were filming a show at the NEC in 1984 and, long story short, Nick Rhodes's lovely mom gave me and my friend a pair of tickets. I've seen them countless times since then but the last time was 2008. I love them live but found it so frustrating that the set list barely changes when they've got such a large and varied back catalogue to choose from so haven't bothered with the last few tours. Plus playing the UK always seems to be a bit of an afterthought.

ssd - a Real Thing

I was in my mid 20s, he was about 30. He was really lovely (not terribly bright) and sort of soft. He was so beautiful then, and I guess I just see him the same now.

I reckon I have aged just as badly as he has!!

Ooooh Cuppycakey! That's the best 'have you had a fling with anyone famous' gossip I've ever read on MN. That would've been about 1990 then? Wasn't he off his face on drugs most of the time? I admire him for getting and staying sober. For someone "not terribly bright" as you say, he's done OK for himself, that's some country pile he's got - although I think Gela selling Juicy paid for that?

I thought he was born in 1960, so if 30 it was 1990?
Sounding like some sort of sad stalker, but just remember this from when I was a teen.

I meant the JT 'look' that appealed to me most was early eighties, when I was a teen. In 1990 I was a grown up and not giving JT any thought.

Along with JT I also liked Michael Praed, and of course Rob Lowe. Must have been the mulletty hair thing they had going on at the time.

I know this is an old thread but i am totally obsessed with JT so can you tell more about this?? How was it? Some details😉 we don't hear much of JT flings on the internet. And we know he has a lots of them in the 80s.. Only those groupie stories.. Sorry i'm just being curious, if that's not problem.. If he was like 30 he would be totally coked most of the time then, that's why I guess he wouldn't be 'terribly bright' as you said, but otherwise I think he is pretty bright guy. 😊
