No idea. Timing food prep isn't our thing. Are you entering Master Chef?

Yellowiceytek · 20/03/2019 20:50

Me, 2 seconds including clearing up. My DH 4 hours excluding cleaning up, which he would leave to me.

Akataka · 20/03/2019 20:51

Both just a couple of minutes, probably me a smidgen longer as Id need to locate the stool as I can't reach the cupboard the peanut butter is kept in!

pumpkinpie01 · 20/03/2019 20:52

I would say 3 mins to make both and a minute to tidy up , DH probably 15 mins altogether

Shahlalala · 20/03/2019 20:53

It would take me 5 minutes and there would be no mess.
It would take him 5 mins to get everything (everything!) in the fridge out, 5 mins to question butter, relishes and types of bread, then he would actually make it and then he would feel so accomplished he would likely leave the cheese out and not notice the crumbs all over the side.

Love him dearly and he is a wonderful father. He does cook and other things in the kitchen but it’s not ha forte.

FlibbertyGiblets · 20/03/2019 20:53

Akataka we keep chocolate in a high cupboard so I've got to REALLY want some to get it. #porky

SpringLake · 20/03/2019 20:53

About the same, but I wouldn't enjoy eating what he made, if I'm honest! Always so haphazard. He only makes his own :)

Thistles24 · 20/03/2019 20:54

I do the full packed lunches in 10 mins, including clearing up. DH would take at least half an hour. So for just the sandwiches, I’d say 5 for me, DH probably 15.

cherryblossomgin · 20/03/2019 20:55

Both of us would Probably take about five minutes. But if I was watching DH do it it would feel like hours.

SuddenlyISee · 20/03/2019 20:55

Probably about the same (he would make far more mess than me though) but I would end up calling and ambulance as I am severely allergic to peanut butter!

It would take OH 5 minutes to make it and clean up. Would take me an hour....realising we are running out of cheese I would start to add it to my Ocado, then I'd check the larder to see if we need cling film, the laser is next to the washing machine and I'd remember I need to put a load in, heading upstairs for the washing pile I'll pass the bathroom and stop for a wee. Finishing on the loo I look down and see the floor needs sweeping. Take washing down, put it on, go back upstairs to sweep floor, go back downstairs oh I pass DD room and remember she needs her bed changed, take off old sheets and duvet, take it down and put it in front of the machine, go back to make lunch, on opening the cupboard for peanut butter see curry sauce we are having for tea, decide now is a good time to stick it in the oven on timer.......

MrsPnut · 20/03/2019 21:03

It would take me 2 minutes but OH would have to get the items out for the cheese wrap. Make that then put the cheese away leaving butter all over the chopping board and worktop. Then he’d start on the sandwich but need guidance as to which peanut butter to use and again leave a smear on every surface. Probably about 15 minutes for him.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 20/03/2019 21:17

It would take me 5 mins and I'd probably leave all the stuff out and make a mess on the worktop and leave it.

DH on the other hand would go into the kitchen to make it, see a cup on the side so would empty the dishwasher so he could put the cup in. He'd then get one lot of stuff out. Make it, clear up then get the next lot out make it then clear up. Would then make me the cup of tea he offered me an hour ago before he got sidetracked into making wraps and sandwiches.

Michaelbaubles · 20/03/2019 21:18

Me, 5 mins at most.

DP, 10 mins, but the wrap would have loads of salad and other nice things in it, would be served nicely with something on the side and everything would be cleaned properly and put away afterwards.

BibbityBobbityEars · 20/03/2019 22:18

Dh would be quicker but leave a trail of destruction in his wake and expect fairies to clear it up.

WifOfBif · 20/03/2019 22:20

Me 5 minutes. DH an hour.

He does the packed lunches and I am amazed at how long it takes him.

Ohyesiam · 20/03/2019 22:22

Me 2 mins
Dp 40 mins, lots of questions and a messy kitchen.

1sttimeDD · 20/03/2019 22:24

Me - 5 minutes

DH - I'd still be waiting next week: he's the king of "In a minute"

Akataka · 20/03/2019 22:27

What kind of jobs do the men who can't put a sandwich together without absolute chaos and leaving it all1 for someone else to clean up do?

Shahlalala · 20/03/2019 22:29

My DH has a good job, I don’t recall him ever having a sandwich related Duty.
Sandwich making isn’t a talent I require for my good job either.

AtrociousCircumstance · 20/03/2019 22:31

Five minutes top.

Akataka · 20/03/2019 22:31

No but if they can follow a set of instructions at work, they can probably put together a sandwich and clean up, just selfishness stopping them.

Shahlalala · 20/03/2019 22:40

If I instructed (I wouldn’t) DH on how to make a sandwich and clean the kitchen he would, it’s just not something that springs to mind for him, silly as it sounds.
He is better at other household tasks than I am and I wouldn’t appreciate instruction!
A prime example being my inability to empty the washing machine after loading it, though I’ll happily set it off and fold the dry clothes. It balances out.

BackforGood · 20/03/2019 22:41

Well, I can't see any time when I would want to, but it would take me or dh about the same amount of time ..... about 4 mins I guess??

Akataka · 20/03/2019 22:47

I didn't mean instruct them, more that they can draw from memory to whack to pieces of bread together and clean up after themselves. I couldn't live with a man toddler who thought the magic cleaning fairy would clean up after the mess they made. Always seems to be largely a male problem.
