What brand is to socks as M&S is to knickers?

Who can point me to the perfect everyday plain black sock in size 9-14ish?

Fed up of pairing socks in the wash so am going to buy lots of plain black pairs which are exactly the same.

So they have to be durable and good value.

Where can I find such a fine set of socks?

Another vote for BAM. Mine haven’t shrunk (but I don’t tumble dry them).

raeray · 20/03/2019 21:13

Bamboo socks from tk Maxx (few different brands) are the nicest ones I have!
Sooo soft- id recommend completely

Wallywobbles · 20/03/2019 21:26

Me and DH have all black socks. Still pair them up though. But when onesies I keep the odds asil pair up sooner or later.

Joules. I love them

NuffSaidSam · 20/03/2019 21:39

M&S ones are rubbish, always end up threadbare almost immediately!

I like sockshop or totes. They wear really well.

BikeRunSki · 20/03/2019 21:40

My BAM socks have never shrunk or faded. I wash everything at 30 and seldom tumble dry.

NuffSaidSam · 20/03/2019 21:40

I don't like m&s knickers either though so maybe you shouldn't trust me!

DarkDarkNight · 20/03/2019 21:40

H&M, I always pick them up when I’m standing in the queue. A five pack with a scalloped edge, either a coloured edge or all Black.

Gap also do good socks.

Vegisgrowingwell · 20/03/2019 21:57

You need bamboo socks. They are amazing

33goingon64 · 20/03/2019 21:58

BAM for socks and knickers

@raeray I've bought those bamboo ones. My big toe goes straight through them. Where can I get some with strong/reinforced toes? Same with m & s.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/03/2019 22:14

Tesco black socks with different coloured heels and toes. Bought some in a Sock Emergency once and have never looked back. So soft and comfy.

BikeRunSki · 21/03/2019 07:03

BAM socks have reinforced toes and heels

ATrainSeat · 21/03/2019 07:05

Next are the only socks I’ll buy. They don’t fade at all and stay lovely and soft.

DinosApple · 21/03/2019 07:18

I still have some Woolworths socks I wore at secondary school, I'm 36! Grin

Ohyesiam · 21/03/2019 07:25

Op, your sock plan can be valid!

We only use Ecover or fairy ( eczema), and our black socks are bible black!

Don’t ask about whites thoughBlush

Smidge001 · 21/03/2019 07:28

What on earth is BAM?

FindPrimeLorca · 21/03/2019 07:30

Boots bamboo socks are comfortable and good value when they have a deal on. I have the opposite problem because DH and DD wear plain black socks so I need black socks that are identical to each other but different to theirs - with some form of texture or inside marking.

BikeRunSki · 21/03/2019 07:32

BAM bamboo socks they also make lots of other clothes.

FindPrimeLorca · 21/03/2019 07:33

BAM is a mail-order brand that makes bamboo clothes. Very soft and comfortable material.

HeronLanyon · 21/03/2019 07:34

Falke - sensitive or London. They are ergonomic and have a discrete l and r on them. Fit feet perfectly - no bunching or slipping. THey have comfy tops which stay in place. They are expensive but if you can afford them worth it as they last forever - I gave up buying and replacing cheaper ones years ago.

Harumphharagh · 21/03/2019 07:37

Mixing it up with a UNIQLO recommendation. Lovely thin black socks, knee high for winter, men’s ones are lovely too.

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/03/2019 07:44

M&S and Tesco do really good black socks. I much prefer the cheery ones from the Happy Sock Co and some my MIL got that are purposefully mismatched.
