No cake / biscuits - need help!

I’ve cut out all chocolate, biscuit, cakes and sweets. I was reaching for them constantly and it had to stop. I know if I have one I’ll keep eating them so decided total avoidance was the only way. So today is day 15. I’m getting bored with it now and I want a biscuit! Also haven’t lost any weight (I know it’s v early days but still 😭). Does anyone have any tips to keep me motivated?

Well done on that.
Cold turkey is tough and you have to really really really want to get the weight off to cut out all of that!
But I don't think you need cut out all that completely.

For example, Rich Tea fingers are only 29 calories per biscuit. I have 3 with a cup of tea and I have a HUGE sweet tooth.

Nousernameforme · 20/03/2019 19:33

If at home and feeling fancy hungry clean your teeth. You know whatever you have won't be as nice afterwards and hopefully you can move your attention on to something else for a while

clary · 20/03/2019 19:40

Op I have done the exact same thing! I was finding it tough today, mega packet if v posh chic biscuits at work but I resisted!

Have a cup of herbal tea or maybe something to eat - protein is good, cold chicken, cheese, a hard boiled egg? Have a bath and read your book?

lilyboleyn · 20/03/2019 20:21

OP, I hear you. I’ve stopped cake, biscuits and chocolate for Lent and it’s been so hard! I’ve been snacking on popcorn, sugar free jellies and angel delight... not lost very much weight at all, but I’m hoping it’ll be a delayed reaction 😂😂😂

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 20/03/2019 20:34

Nice mug of tea always does it for me when I'm feeling snack tempted! Distracts me and fills me somewhat.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 20/03/2019 21:23

I’m doing exactly the same for lent! Little pot of full fat yogurt with a few mixed nuts on top is really satisfying. Or a cup of tea with a couple of satsumas.

Your replies are so great, thank you :) feeling very motivated that it’s not just me trying this! So, I went to Tescos earlier and I now have lemon and ginger teabags, peanut putter, rice crackers and frozen peas 😁. Ill have to find freezedried raspberries cos that sounds delicious. I can’t avoid biscuits in the house as DH and the DC like the odd one, and somehow manage to have one and not a whole packet. Not fair on them to remove them completely because I have zero self control Blush Although - I’ve kept this up for 15 days now so I must have some willpower hiding in me somewhere! It would be so great to lose weight (so so great) but more than that I’ve got to stop feeling like an addict for sugar and look after myself better. Obviously delayed reaction weight loss would be amazing Grin I’ve been standing hopefully on the scales every morning but nothing!

Carbonated water does not increase my appetite. Much the opposite as I am full up

Personal I suppose..

3littlerabbits · 20/03/2019 21:27

I’ve been going mad for clementines Hazelnut!

Roast chicken and hard boiled eggs really fill me up though, so together with fizzy water works perfectly Grin

Poo struggle though Blush as I get a bit of a bung up Blush

Can't win GrinGrinGrinGrin

When I am really craving stodge or sugar I have one of those soreen mini malt loaves. Delicious! Love them!

3littlerabbits · 21/03/2019 13:32

Struggling today - I have a tonne of work and feel like if I just had a biscuit I could focus and get it done. This is exactly the habit / mindset I want to get rid of. I have a fruit tea in front of me and I’ve just had a cracker and peanut butter. I’m not having a biscuit, no way, but it’s just crazy that my brain is demanding one so I can concentrate on work Confused

I lost 5 stone some years ago (and kept it off). I drank one can of diet caffeine free coke every day for the first few months. It definitely filled me up.
I also allowed myself two squares of dark chocolate a day, plus a diet hot chocolate. I still do. It's not exciting but it works, and it's become a way of life.

Happynow001 · 22/03/2019 06:30

4 x Nairns thin oatcakes with ONE slice mature cheddar (30% reduced fat) no butter (half that as a snack) plus a large black coffee or cup of tea no sugar or
Small helping of skyr (high protein fat free) with berries or
Small pot plain live Greek style yoghurt with a few almonds and blueberries with a touch of agave nectar rich and dark (tastes like a little like maple syrup) or
Warm hard boiled egg (so the yolk is still a little creamy) with a very thinly sliced apple skin on eg Braeburn or Pink Lady or
15g porridge (not the "ready" sort) microwaved in water with ground cinnamon with fresh or frozen fruit. Waitrose frozen cherries or strawberries are lovely)! Add plain yoghurt eg (liberate zero fat or skyr) is very comforting and keeps me satisfied for ages. Cd add a teaspoon of the agave nectar but don't really need it because of the fruit.

Eat mindfully and savour each mouthful. 😊

Happynow001 · 22/03/2019 06:32

Oops sorry not Liberate but Liberte

3littlerabbits · 22/03/2019 07:44

Thanks - gods suggestions - I’ve add them to my list:) I rarely eat yoghurt or boiled eggs but worth a try. Day 17 today. If that thing about 21 days to break a habit is true then it’s only 4 days to go! Hope everyone else managing to stick with it Halo

I've eaten raw carrot to avoid eating biscuits - seemed to help.

Hotterthanahotthing · 22/03/2019 10:54

I eat Clementines, somehow they banish to need to eat more.
Are there any biscuits you don't like.My DD likes nice biscuits which I can totally resist with no effort

Happynow001 · 22/03/2019 11:10

Yes LOVE clementines/tangerines. Also when those just aren't what I want but I don't yet fancy chocolate (73-90% cocoa solids so only one or two squares "needed") then two or three Agen soft prunes (1fruit portion) eaten slowly satisfies the mid afternoon craving and is a great fibre source.

Do you log your food/water intake and daily exercise OP? I've found that helps keep me on track esp tracking carbs, fat and protein etc. I understand some people use My Fitness Pal - I use the Lose It! App. You can try the basic app for free though there are limits on what you can do eg plan your food for the day(s) ahead. The premium version is still cheaper than WW and you don't have to eat any "special" food.

longtompot · 22/03/2019 11:22

Salted caramel rice cakes are amazing. You could try cereal like granola or musli with natural yog or a fruit yog and sliced banana.

heidivodca · 22/03/2019 12:03

@cabbagehippy - your orange chickpea cake sounds very intriguing. DH has given up sugar but says he still misses cake!

CabbageHippy · 22/03/2019 17:14

@heidivodca - I will dig it out when I get home & post the instructions - it is incredibly easy to make
