Don't bandana bibs look uncomfortable?

Material tucked up under the chin?

That would piss me off. Am I thinking too much into it?

They can do - the plastic backed ones flick up. The dribble-on ones are good though.

Suzysleep · 16/03/2019 15:51

The idea is that they catch the dribble before it settles into the neck crevices causing rashes. My dribbly DS was always comfortable in them.

I didn't know that. I just thought it was 'in' to make a baby look like a cow boy. Blush

The funky giraffe bandana ones are expensive but brilliant and absorbant. My DD has eczema but her neck is totally clear because they keep all the moisture away .

fruitbastille · 16/03/2019 16:10

My ds is nearly two but still mega dribbly, I'm sick of the sight of dribble bibs! I also used to think people just wanted their babies to look jaunty before I had himBlush

Suzysleep · 16/03/2019 16:14

Ha ha it's not a fashion fad, they're really helpful for protecting the skin. My DS would have benefited from a full gang member style face bandana - maybe I've found a gap in the market!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 16/03/2019 16:16

I hated the look of them, but it was that or

  1. changing the entire outfit every 30 min or
  2. wet dribble rashes.

My son dribbled continuously.

Quintella · 16/03/2019 16:16

It's soft material. Not sure how uncomfortable they can be.

PristineCondition · 16/03/2019 16:17

I don’t mind them for kids. They are very practical.

Cannot understand why so many flipping dogs are put in them though

EssentialHummus · 16/03/2019 16:23

I wish they were a fashion thing! We go through one an hour here.

PonyoPonyo · 16/03/2019 16:29

My dribbly ds would have been very rashy and in pain from the rash without something to dribble in that could be easily changed. Nothing to do with having a cowboy look and it was usually a massive muslin because the amount of drool was torrential

Feathers are soft but I wouldn't want them folded up under chin.
Marshmallows are soft but I wouldn't want them folded up under my chin.
Hair is soft but..... etc etc

Same! But I get the flat towelling ones. Not the ones that fold up under the chin.

This is what I've used for all my kids.
But these ones that fold up under the chin look uncomfortable. And thinking about it, must feel awful once wet with dribble.

And that's why I love a polo neck, because they fold up under my chin.

I think this may be a case of what's uncomfortable for one person may not be uncomfortable for another...

CallMeCarolDanvers · 16/03/2019 16:41

Tesco used to sell a 3 pack of amazing dribble bibs. My 2yo still drools like mad, they're the only ones that catch it and stop him soaking through his clothes. The lower neckline bibs don't watch the dribble before it goes onto his neck. Alas Tesco don't sell them any more.

@ABC1234DEF Yes, those are the ones. I got some as a present initially and liked them so got a few more. Too expensive to buy loads but they worked very well for us

scandilover · 16/03/2019 16:52

I never liked them then I had a reflux baby- best bibs ever for preventing the neck getting wet and sore! I actually like how they look now but I guess I just got used to them

RedSpottyKettle · 16/03/2019 18:18

My DD is two and only just this week (fingers and toes crossed) stopped dribbling to the extent that her outfits are ruined within 20ish minutes throw a bib. I found the bandana bibs looked slightly less babyish Blush

Great thanks, might have to try some, it's like someone has turned the dribble taps on here this week! It's easy to manage in the house but need something heavier duty for out and about for any length of time!

BlueMidnight · 16/03/2019 18:37

They’ve been around for ages too. DD2, now 7 wore them a lot as a baby because she was a terrible dribbler. They really saved her neck from getting sore.

Exhausted18 · 16/03/2019 19:07

@ABC1234DEF Hope they work for you! I find that even when they get very wet at the front (and DD went straight from reflux to excessive dribbling), it doesn't soak through and the back will stay dry for absolutely ages. Saves a lot of washing overall haha.

I certainly do enough washing! No one warned me that such a small person could generate so much laundry!

SparkyBlue · 17/03/2019 19:19

My second DC was a dribbler. I bought a pile of babyboo bandana bibs and oh my goodness they were amazing. They were constantly washed and worn and have really lasted and he is a contrary little person so if they irritated him he would have made me well aware of it.

MyKingdomForBrie · 17/03/2019 19:21

These stop my ds getting a horrible dribble rash on his chin. The material sits next to the underside of his chin, not sure how that's uncomfortable? When I'm wearing a polo neck that's where the material is and it's always comfy.
