Ebf 8 week old hasn't pooed in 8 days

It's going to be a massacre when he finally goes...

How long is too long? I keep reading conflicting advice. His wind absolutely hums, the bedroom smelt like rotten ass last night. He's not uncomfortable or in pain, his stomach isn't hard. Do I just wait and pray I'm not wearing something nice when he finally goes?

Ds went 10 days once, then, shitocalypse.

Took his nappy off and it was like korma
flavour Mr whippy, it just kept coming. 😬

It's started, korma Mr Whippy is about right. One blanket, one towel, two changes of clothes and my pj bottoms are in the wash 😂

I remember when EBF ds was constipated for a while, we were so worried when he got to the ten days stage. DH made comments about doing nappy changes outside so we could hose him down Grin

To me his poo smelled rather like toffee so I never minded nappy changes I may have had PFB glasses on

Glad he's finally let go OP, you can relax now!

Do NOT give orange juice!

Not pooing is entirely normal for an ebf baby. The reason is that breast milk is so perfect for a baby that every bit is used by the body and there is no waste. As long as baby is weeing they are fine. I remember one of my dc regularly going two weeks and it would go up his back to his neck! Have fun with that nappy change! I hope you are at home when it happens. Smile

DDs record is 16 days. Needed a full chance if clothing including snowsuit when it happened.

Shoefleur · 17/03/2019 15:59

20 days was our record. She was absolutely fine; soft tummy, happy in herself. I ended up carrying a bag of old towels around for a couple of weeks in anticipation of the inevitable deluge... only it didn’t happen. When she finally went it was barely a wet fart and from then on she reprised pooing a small amount every couple of days. I think they can just use breast milk very efficiently.

Book an appointment somewhere, then he'll poo just before you're due to leave, then again after you've cleaned and changed him. Always worked for mine Wink

it sounds yucky but you can stimulate the anus.

Don't give orange juice but you can try an ounce or 2 of cooled boiled water.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 18/03/2019 06:42

But Blimey why would you give any sort of intervention if it’s normal and the baby is not in any pain?
