What's the best chocolate and where can I buy it?

I fancy some naice chocolate for the weekend but don't know what to get.

I've completely gone off Cadburys. I like a rich milk chocolate or a slightly creamy dark chocolate, not too sweet and sickly. Most dark chocolates are too bitter though and most milk too creamy.

What's your favourite? And where do you buy it?

Divine chocolate.
www.divinechocolate.com/uk/

Everything in their range is delicious. My fave is dark choc with raspberries.
It's proper Fair Trade, and not owned by a multi-national (unlike G&B, Cadbury, Galaxy, etc). Lots of it is available in Waitrose, or maybe there's a FairTrade or Traidcraft cafe near you that stocks it?

Madbengalmum · 17/03/2019 12:53

M and S or Divine choc, hate Cadburys and Hotel Chocolat is crap now imho.

Ginnymweasley · 17/03/2019 12:56

I agree with the poster s that have said m & s. If you like chocolate orange their chocolate with Clementine is the best I've ever had.

Lindt with chilli or with caramel and salt are my faves.

Dowser · 17/03/2019 13:13

Love dark chocolate. I like divine, motezzuma. Quite partial to a bendicks mint.
I like valour chocolate from Spain, with nuts in.
It’s about €3 a bar here

Too late to get it now but here’s a link

Godiva tastes like old Cadbury’s before it got ruined. So good.

TwixBix1 · 17/03/2019 14:17

Lindt and ferrero roches - both found in all major supermarkets I think :)

CakeNinja · 17/03/2019 14:26

Oh my god, I’ve tried some moser Roth and call it an utter abomination Shock
I believe Waitrose 1 is all palm free (correct me if I’m wrong!)
The willies cacao milk with salt flakes is also palm oil free although not all of his range is. The chocolate is very smooth, not too sweet, almost verging on kind of savoury but in a very good, morish way.

bluechameleon · 17/03/2019 14:36

I had some Tony's Chocolonely hazelnut milk chocolate last night which was quite nice. I prefer very dark chocolate so it wasn't really my thing but might be yours.

hotchocdrinker · 17/03/2019 14:38

Both the Waitrose and M&S bars I linked to upthread are Fair-trade, and seem to be palm oil free.

Howyoualldoworkme · 17/03/2019 14:39

Audreys chocolates in Hove. Best chocolate I have ever had.
And I'm old and eaten a lot of chocolate Grin

M&S extra fine Swiss dark chocolate (large bar) is really good

Delatron · 17/03/2019 16:08

Yes it’s the palm oil that has ruined all of Cadbury’s chocolate.

M&S and Waitrose taste far better now as they are palm oil free.

Palominoo · 17/03/2019 16:48

I quite like the cheapo Ritter Sport. Alpine milk is nice and so is the milk chocolate and hazelnuts.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 17/03/2019 16:53

If you’re anywhere near Chichester, there’s Montezuma shop there and they usually have little tasting bits.

n0ne · 17/03/2019 17:11

Yep, Tony Chocolonely (terrible name but it's Dutch, so) is delicious, and they do a dark milk. Didn't realise TC was available in the UK.

driftingcloud · 17/03/2019 18:49

Galaxy hurts my teeth. Used to love it but galaxy and Cadbury's just seem like fakes now. If I want real chocolate it has to be green and blacks or similar.

driftingcloud · 17/03/2019 18:50

I also feel like I need to go to hotel chocolate.

BaaBaaBaaMoo · 17/03/2019 18:52

Seed and bean do some lovely chocolate.

goingtotown · 17/03/2019 19:00

Doisy & Dam Organic Dark Chocolate from Sainsbury’s.

QuestionableMouse · 17/03/2019 19:07

The Tesco cheap bars are actually quite nice. Think it's call Mrs Molly or something like and is about 50p a bar (and the dark is palm oil free)

Sugarplumfairy65 · 17/03/2019 19:12

Too late for this weekend, but I can highly recommend a company called cocoa drop. All handmade and delicious

Batsypatsy · 17/03/2019 19:21

Lots of different sorts to try! Grin

I'm not near Chichester sadly. The local Sainsbury's have a few montezuma bars though.

M&S Belgian truffles in a gold box. Usually £6, sometimes half price. I have one last thing at night as a treat

Batsypatsy · 18/03/2019 11:34

I don't like truffles or anything creamy and sweet.
