Just found my missing Christmas Brie - still ok to eat?

I bought a rather fancy Brie round for Christmas and thought I was going mad as it went missing butjust found it lurking at the back of the fridge where it had obviously slipped down behind the wine rack/cold drawer let's ignore the fact this is the first time I've done a proper fridge clean since Christmas.
Best before 8th Jan but I've just spotted leftover red wine from our Sunday lunch and thinking a lump of Brie would go rather nicely and it's just mould or is this pushing it even with cheese? Would take the skin off to be safe Wink

🤢 it's a no from me

Colourpencils · 12/03/2019 19:44

No from me too and I normally eat stuff well past its sell by date

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/03/2019 19:45

Cheese is literally milk’s attempt at immortality. I’d eat it without another thought. Have eaten cheese and yoghurt literally months out of date and both they and I have been fine.

How does it look? If normal Brie-like, I’d get it down.

Hefzi · 12/03/2019 19:46

Eat without a second thought - skin and all!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/03/2019 19:46

How the Jeff did you manage to overlook it? I bought a delicious Sainsbury Brie in a wooden box (and it had wrapping round the cheese) but even in a sealed bag it still bloody announced itself every time I opened the door .
Until I slid it into the Brie Baker and ate it !

ivykaty44 · 12/03/2019 19:46

Definitely yes, it’ll be fine

Singlenotsingle · 12/03/2019 19:47

Taste it. It's probably fine. Some cheeses last for years and at least it's been in the fridge.

MonkeyfaceThereturn · 12/03/2019 19:48

Wtf is leftover wine?

I'd be more worried about that alien freakish thing than the cheese Confused

QueenEhlana · 12/03/2019 19:49

Brie? No. I've noticed that even a couple of weeks out of date it tastes rank.

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/03/2019 19:50

You have left over 🍷 from Sunday Shock
I would eat the brie, in fact I've still got some from Christmas which I will be eating

TheoriginalLEM · 12/03/2019 19:51

Listeria anyone?

SurgeHopper · 12/03/2019 19:51

Hell no

BigStripeyBastard · 12/03/2019 20:05

Yes. Unless it smells overly of amonia, it will be perfectly fine.

foobio · 12/03/2019 20:06

I'd check it for imposter looking mould, taste a bit and if it's ok, cook it rather than eating raw!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/03/2019 20:07

Yes if it smells ok.

DustyMaiden · 12/03/2019 20:12

Anyone who hasn’t cleaned their fridge in three months must have a strong stomach.

Walkmehome · 12/03/2019 20:14

No not from January. Straight in the bin!

mydogisthebest · 12/03/2019 20:20

I would eat it although I would, obviously, check it first by smelling it and tasting a tiny bit.

I eat out of date things like cheese, yoghurt all the time. I often eat yoghurt months out of date.

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2019 20:21

I would

Viebienremplie · 12/03/2019 20:26

Of it smells ok and hasn't gone mouldy or wet/sticky on the outside rind I would definitely eat it.

Happynow001 · 12/03/2019 21:01

🤢

Saltycinnamon · 12/03/2019 21:05

I don't think I'm cleaning my fridge enough - or maybe I'm just eating everything in it?! Is it gross not to clean out your fridge v often? Mine looks fine! I bung the milk & juice tray things in the dishwasher every week or so but that's it.

64sNewName · 12/03/2019 21:09

I think this really just depends on a lot of factors, like what kind of Brie it is and what the packaging was like and whether your fridge is good and consistent in temp.

I’m wincing at months ood yoghurt though. I once ate some a few days out of date by accident, and it was instantly clear it was off Envy

Mrscog · 12/03/2019 21:12

I only clean the fridge twice a year - do people do it more?!

I would give the Brie a go but would feel more confident if it was cooked!
