Holiday club - Would you expect food to be provided?

If your child attended a holiday club, which would you expect

  1. To have to provide all food / snacks. (i.e packed lunch)

  2. For the club to provide food.

Club is open 9am - 5.30pm and is £25 a day.

Depends on the area. Around here £25 could be with or without food.

KnitterOfSocks · 11/03/2019 20:18

£25 would be without food round here. I've used several over the years and generally food isn't provided.

I would expect to provide a packed lunch, but for the club to provide morning and afternoon snacks...

If early drop off, maybe breakfast to be given but I would expect to pay a bit extra for this...

What sort of snacks would you expect.

Also thanks for the replies, it's very helpful.

I would expect the children to have to take a packed lunch with snacks provided by the holiday club.

septemberismyfavouritemonth · 11/03/2019 20:25

Price never includes food in my experience

Vanillamanilla1 · 11/03/2019 20:25

I work in A holiday club
£18 for the session ..8am-6pm ..no breakfast but we provide lunch , a hot snack of beans on toast or jam or a variation of something tinned mac or spaghetti bolognese about 4pm ( Something tinned and microwaveable ) ) always with toast ...fruit around 5pm
Drinks juice / water always available
My daughter goes to one ( not one I work in )
£27-£30 and we have to provide all lunches and snacks nothing is there for them

BrieAndChilli · 11/03/2019 20:27

Our school holiday club is £30 a day and you have to take a packed lunch
They provide snacks - bagels, toast, crumpets, fruit, biscuits, crisps, etc varying each day. On a day they watch a film they might have popcorn, on a hot day they might have ice creams/lollies etc

TSSDNCOP · 11/03/2019 20:28

No food

KrazyKatlady · 11/03/2019 20:29

I wouldn't expect any food to be provided. Every holiday club my kids have been to (this kind of price and over) they have had to take a nut free pack lunch/snacks

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 11/03/2019 20:30

Where we are it’s £45 (different providers) and no food.

Flippidyflap · 11/03/2019 20:31

Ours is £25 a day and we have to send a packed lunch but they provide a snack in the morning and afternoon. It’s open from 8-6. I’m happy with that because they don’t have the facilities or staff to be cooking lunch for all the children.

IceRebel · 11/03/2019 20:32

Screenshots this comment. We don't offer food but have had grumbles about this from parents / carers, i'd hate to see what they'd say if we were £45 and still didn't offer food. Grin

Ours costs similar to that and they provide snacks but not lunch.

IceRebel · 11/03/2019 20:34

This is what our research told us, but I wondered if it had changed in recent years.

£40 and no food here,

IceRebel · 11/03/2019 20:42

bagels, toast, crumpets, fruit, biscuits, crisps, etc varying each day.

We wouldn't offer crisps and biscuits, but fruit could be an option going forward, although probably not a popular one with the children.

No food here when we paid £20. Paid £33 at the last one and got a hot lunch, swimming lesson and tennis lesson!

BluebirdHill · 11/03/2019 20:45

20-25 a day here with child bringing a packed lunch, but snacks provided.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/03/2019 20:47

I'd expect to provide packed lunch and snacks, but water available if they finished their drink and wanted more.

puppymouse · 11/03/2019 20:47

We provide lunch and two snacks for DD when she goes. 8.30 to 4pm.

puppymouse · 11/03/2019 20:48

£23 a day I should have said.

IceRebel · 11/03/2019 20:48

but water available if they finished their drink and wanted more.

We have drinks available all day, no restrictions on these and we encourage the children to keep hydrated. Smile

Never had food provided! Cheapest club is 9-3 and zero extras provided at £18 per day, most expensive was £38 for 8-6 and they provided snacks morning and afternoon but we had to pack lunch
