What facial moisturiser do you use at night?

Just curious to know what others use as an overnight facial moisturiser?

I find most of the specific night moisturisers are too heavy and cause breakouts. Also, it seems most daytime moisturisers suitable for my age (40 in a few months) have SPF which also cause me to breakout if I use overnight.

I've got the stage where need to use something. Any suggestions for a lighter night time moisturiser?

Nivea in the blue tub.

I use a hyaluronic serum followed by The Ordinary 5% Retinoid. No need for a seperate moisturiser. Once a week ish I use Alpha H Liquid Gold and nothing else.

Clinique moisturising lotion.
Expensive but well worth it (no wrinkles yet).

Eucerin 5% urea replenishing face cream. I am using Retin-a so need something quite moisturising, but anything heavy really does not suit my skin. This is a light lotion texture, sinks in quickly and makes skin feel soft and nicely moisturised. Sometimes I will smear a very thin layer of aquaphor over the top too, that really locks the moisture in. Both cheap and available in most chemists.

Another vote for Nivea Classic (will start applying to boob crease immediately though... haven’t been doing tha5 yet,,)

Wildcate · 06/03/2019 20:36

that yet

BuffaloSpringfield · 06/03/2019 20:40

Advanced clinicals collagen. Cheap, huge pot, not too heavy, no.spf. no smell, works a treat.

Redwinestillfine · 06/03/2019 20:47

I use simply argan night oil. Smells amazing and makes my skin look amazing but I have dry skin so not sure if that would work for you.

Chocmallows · 06/03/2019 20:49

Nivea Q10 or Body shop vitamin E cream.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 06/03/2019 20:51

Liz Earle night serum

Annie2311 · 06/03/2019 20:52

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil rather than moisturiser. It’s like a drink for your face and the lavender smell really helps me feel sleepy

Pinksands1 · 06/03/2019 21:01

I don't always remember/am too tired to do it every night but when I do I use nivea soft in the white pot. It makes my skin silky and smells so lovely and fresh too.

I really rate the Boots botanics (botanicals?) brightening night cream. Packaging is pink and white. Not too heavy, but still seems to have a bit of oomph behind it. I have quite oily skin, but it's only sort of "surface oil" so I still need a good moisturiser.

alltoomuchrightnow · 06/03/2019 22:54

I'm nearly 48
Oily and v sensitive, some rosacea, but not typical mature skin
I put on Decleor's Prolagen gel (not a moisturiser) wait for it to dry then put on Child's Farm moisturiser. It's very light and doesn't burn my skin and is an absolute godsend for the eczema I get on forehead, brows and hair line but isn't greasy at all. Basically I use it all over face and neck

RoboticSealpup · 06/03/2019 22:56

Bio oil

IggyPoppers · 06/03/2019 22:59

Elemis pro collagen marine cream but I'd like to try the matrix cream from Elemis

vampirethriller · 07/03/2019 07:59

Aldi Lacura Q10 Renew. It's brilliant.

YorkieTheRabbit · 07/03/2019 08:07

Elemis matrix. DP bought me a beautiful gift set for Christmas, it’s not something I’d have got myself. It is very nice Smile

sushisuperstar · 09/03/2019 12:44

@presentcontinuous is it any good? I've just bought one as I can't afford my usual which is £49.

AwdBovril · 09/03/2019 12:50

La Roche Posay sensitive. No SPF in it, I use it night & day. Fab stuff.

OxanaVorontsova · 09/03/2019 12:54

I use AlphaH liquid gold a couple of times a week with nothing else, retinol serum a couple of times a week and Origins night-a-mins the rest of the time, Origins drink up intensive mask once a week if I need it. I liked the Aldi Caviar but found the scent too overpowering for me.

Tilikum · 09/03/2019 13:02

Aldi Age Renew night cream (the one in the red box). Their Caviar line is a bit too rich for my skin but this one is just perfect. I mix in a few drops of The Ordinary Borage Seed Oil / Rosehip oil and go to bed looking like a slug.

DeRigueurMortis · 09/03/2019 13:07

Another person who uses M&S ultimate sleep cream.

I think it's brilliant (and I've tried loads of much more expensive products including La Mer).

HaventGotAllDay · 09/03/2019 13:10

I use various serums and treatments beforehand (those are what make the difference apparently not the moisturiser which just moisturises (d'oh) ) but I used to love L'Occitane Divine and Neal's Yard Frankincense. Did either make a difference? The NY, yes. The Divine- nope.
Been using Nivea blue pot since my skin got wind chapped at Christmas and it looks the best it has for years. I'm NOT saying that's because of the Nivea - it's more likely to be the bit C serum, the Hyaluronic serum blabla, but it also shows that the £80 Divine wasn't doing Jack either!
I tried the M&S sleep cream last year and it's the only cream ever to have bought me out in an allergic rash. I can take any kind of perfume/chemicals usually, but the M&S ate my face!

presentcontinuous · 09/03/2019 13:22

@sushisuperstar I've been using it on and off for years and it seems to suit my generally normal bordering on dry sensitive skin. I don't look like and old hag yet!
