The nicest sound in the world

There's a thread for us misophonia sufferers on the most irritating sound in the world. Let's try and cheer ourselves up, what's the nicest sound?

I love the sound of rain
Thunder
Michael Jackson acapella
The clip clop when a horse is walking

What others have said; rain, laughter, the surf.

Also, we live in the country and I love when the weather allows us to throw open the windows (especially in the morning and evening) and just listen to the 'country sounds'; birds, wind in the trees, cattle, sheep, the occasional dog barking, Lucille the donkey down the lane, a far off train whistle. I even love hearing the occasional tractor put-putting down the road to the fields.

DanglyTassles · 24/02/2019 17:06

Owls at night

Yy to babies laughing and waves plus the noise of a lively stream.

dementedma · 24/02/2019 17:09

Gurgling stream,
Crackle of a log fire
Rain on the windows at night
Bird song
Waves on the beach
Bumblebees
Cat purring

lottielady · 24/02/2019 17:12

A cork being pulled.
Waves hitting the shore.
A crackling fire.
A chuckling baby.
A primary school playground.
A well-played guitar.
Church bells.
A fart in the bath 😂

wanderings · 24/02/2019 18:09

A purring or sleeping cat.

I also like hearing bits going up the vacuum.

The dustbins being emptied.

The swoosh of a netball going through the net, and the clapping. (Even goals scored by the opposition, as long as there aren't too many!)

Wrapping presents: the sounds of scissors and Sellotape. And my favourite thing of all: listening to DH wrapping my birthday or Christmas presents, which I can hear very clearly, because I'm there with him. (I can't see what he wrapping up, because I'm blindfolded! Wink)

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 24/02/2019 18:14

Pigeons cooing
My dog drinking from his bowl
Rain on Windows

Drogosnextwife · 24/02/2019 18:16

Waves
Rain
The birds in the morning
My kids laughing

I also love the smell of the rain and the smell first thing I the morning. Often stick my head out the kitchen window for a sniff in the morning 😂

noideaatallreally · 24/02/2019 18:35

The final bell in July that starts the Summer holidays.

Waves breaking on a shingle shore.

Blackbirds.

The churchbell in the French village we stayed at.

My babies chuckling.

The intro to Annie's Song and the opening lines of Daydream Believer.

The first lawnmower of the Spring.

AfterSchoolWorry · 24/02/2019 18:38

My daughter when she was a baby/toddler used to laugh in her sleep.

It's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. 💞

SpanielEars070 · 24/02/2019 18:38

Early morning bird song.
Rain.
Waves/sound of the sea.
Wind through the trees.
Laughter.
Church bells ringing.
And sometimes, the sound of complete and utter silence.

WillGymForPizza · 24/02/2019 18:42

Church bells ringing

Daisychainsandglitter · 24/02/2019 20:47

I like the sound of rain.
I also stay over in London with work fairly frequently and I find the noise/vibrations of the underground below strangely comforting

Eastie77 · 24/02/2019 20:56

The pitter patter of DS' feet running towards the door when he hears me returning home from work.

Dhalandchips · 24/02/2019 21:02

Tipping coal into the Empty coal scuttle, boings!

Skittlesandbeer · 24/02/2019 21:08

The sound of the front door shutting behind DH & DD, meaning they’re off somewhere and I’ve got blissful time alone in silence!

Oh, the sounds of a boat out on the water- the lapping and the ‘clinking’.

But no doubt my favourite sounds are more to do with silence, since becoming a parent!

ShortandSweet96 · 24/02/2019 21:09

Ok this is a weird one

When I lived with my mum we lived on a main road, outside my bedroom window was a big loose drain.

I love the sound of lorrys going over the drain. I used to have my window open every night so I could listen to lorrys (and cars) go over it and it was crash loudly.

I also like anything white noise, I fall asleep when DP gets the Hoover out.

Ive fallen asleep a few times in bed when I dry my hair, to the point I burnt my leg so had to stop getting into bed ro dry my hair as it was dangerous!

I love the sounds my 18mo twice makes when she chatting with me. There is nothing more lovely than having a chat with a toddler that doesn't know many words yet!

I also love the tapping sound of DP playstation controller when he plays with his headset on.

I HATE listening to rain though, not sure why I just can't stand it.

justthecat · 24/02/2019 21:15

Heavy rain on our velux windows , started to hear the birds chirp in the morning recently or the owls at night.
Most importantly not my alarm tomorrow as half term 😁

MissClareRemembers · 24/02/2019 21:39

Wind blowing through trees.
Rain falling on the roof of my DC’s attic bedroom.
The dawn chorus.
My stove top kettle whistling.
The sound of doors being closed on radio dramas. Just something very satisfying about that!
An orchestra tuning up.
Leaves crunching underfoot in a woodland.

Longdistance · 24/02/2019 21:48

If I have my bedroom window open, in the morning I can hear the faint sound of the APU of the aircraft at the nearby airport. It reminds me of my flying days @saddo

Toddlerteaplease · 24/02/2019 21:51

Cats purring/ meowing at me.
Babies giggling

Bigonesmallone3 · 24/02/2019 21:53

Silence

SomeDayPerhaps · 24/02/2019 22:31

Shortandsweet - you literally have the opposite to misophonia. I wish I was you!

Otters! We saw some otters a couple of weeks ago and the wee nose they make were fabulous!

safariboot · 24/02/2019 23:02

DM's voice.

Holst's Jupiter. Brightens up even the dullest of car journeys.

A boiling kettle. Because it means time for a cuppa.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 25/02/2019 08:11

I love the happy chirp cats make when they are pleased to see you.
