The nicest sound in the world

There's a thread for us misophonia sufferers on the most irritating sound in the world. Let's try and cheer ourselves up, what's the nicest sound?

I love the sound of rain
Thunder
Michael Jackson acapella
The clip clop when a horse is walking

OP posts:

The noise our puppy makes when he wakes up - it's like a cross between a yawn and a gurgle and it's just adorable.

The noises the DC made when they were babies asleep on me.

The sound of lawnmowers mowing. It's batshit, I agree, but I love the sound.

rainydogday · 24/02/2019 13:06

Skylarks on a summers day
Dawn chorus
Lawn mowers (with the smell of cut
Grass)!

MotorcycleMayhem · 24/02/2019 13:06

@TheArtfulScreamer1 good luck!!

I love big storms, the sound of rain thundering on the roof, high winds and trees creaking.
The sea and all its noises
Perfectly in tune orchestras - hairs on the back of the neck time

KitTheCat · 24/02/2019 13:07

Crunchy snow
Baby giggling
Cat purring

ooooohbetty · 24/02/2019 13:09

Children playing. I love the chattering and laughing sounds from children in playgrounds.

Grinchly · 24/02/2019 13:32

Cat purring
Dawn chorus
Clip clip of horses' hooves and jingle jangle of their tack

puppymouse · 24/02/2019 13:40

Definitely rain through an open window if you're warm inside.

I'd also have said clip clop of hooves until I took my horse's shoes off and realized how much better off he is barefoot. But I love the flubbbbbthhh sound he makes when he relaxes and exhales.

I love the little yip sounds my dog makes in his sleep when he's having a dream.

I love the sound of a lawn being mown on a quiet sunny day.

Cagliostro · 24/02/2019 13:41

Toddler DD2’s gluggy gulpy noises when she’s feeding. Makes up for the pinching, twiddling and kicking me in the face :o

squashyhat · 24/02/2019 13:42

The first planes coming into land in the morning at the nearby airport. I like to think of their long high cold journey across the Atlantic to get here safely.

I live on a golf course. The satisfying thwack of a ball well hit is good. Equally the sort of dull thunk usually followed by swearing when it all goes wrong Grin

Moonflower12 · 24/02/2019 13:43

The clip clop definitely (along with the smell) of horses. The wickering they make when they see you.

TSSDNCOP · 24/02/2019 13:45

The moment the plane engines rev up just before take-off

"l love you mummy"

bananasandwicheseveryday · 24/02/2019 13:49

My baby grandson babbles away and has just learnt to blow raspberries. That, and the sound of his laughter, are the most wonderful sounds I have ever heard. And him breaking out into a huge smile and putting his arms out to me for a cuddle, is without doubt, the most beautiful sight.

Quiltedflossy · 24/02/2019 14:00

definately waves on the shore

Birdsong on an early spring day

cats purring

Hard rain on the window when you're snuggled up indoors

probably weird to some but I like the sound of pan pipes

AdoraBell · 24/02/2019 14:01

Children playing/laughing
Strong waves crashing into rocks
Birds
Babies snoring
My dogs snoring
Waterfall
Parrots and monkeys at the edge of the jungle in Venezuela
Rivers either raging or trickling down a mountain
Dolphins splashing while following a boat
Lightning sizzling as it hits the ocean

PutyourtoponTrevor · 24/02/2019 14:07

The wind in the tall trees

Waves

My dog snoring

Millie2013 · 24/02/2019 14:14

Ponies munching hay ❤️

groundcontroltomontydon · 24/02/2019 14:25

At the start of a marathon when the chatter dies down and you can just hear thousands of trainers hitting the road

LavenderBelle · 24/02/2019 14:26

My one isn’t really a nice sound, but my DH grinds his teeth in his sleep. It used to get on my nerves when we first slept together but I have a lot of nightmares lately and sometimes I wake up in the night and I can hear him grinding his teeth and it’s a comfort because I know he’s there.

I love the sound of grass being cut, sounds stupid, but if I wake up early and I can hear my neighbours working on their garden it’s lovely and makes me feel all summery.

chemenger · 24/02/2019 14:28

Purring cat.
Rain on a (waterproof) tent at night.
Wind though trees.

haverhill · 24/02/2019 14:29

Seagulls
Pigeons cooing in the roof and hearing it in the fireplace.
Blackbirds
Gentle wind through leafy trees
Laughter

countingto10 · 24/02/2019 15:11

My horse nickering to me.

MitziK · 24/02/2019 15:15

The blooping noise a completely happy, warm and contended cat makes when it's sleeping more on its back than its side and you gently touch its soft, warm belly as it rests against you.

The noise DP makes when he's doing almost the same to me in the morning, his arm is draped over me and we're perfectly warm and sleepy.

Sometimes, I get to hear both --because the TwatCat has taken advantage and snuggled into my front, DP is snuggling into my back.

Birdsong in the early morning.

A cool breeze in the leaves of a silver birch.

The lazy buzz of hundreds of bees in the rambling rose in the last week of May.

Crickets and grasshoppers in a meadow.

Lambs in the field.

Nighttime by the sea.

Crows surfing the currents on a blustery day.

user1andonly · 24/02/2019 15:34

I've got the house to myself right now which is really rare so the lack of other people's noises is just lovely. I'm sat by an upstairs window and can hear the odd bit of birdsong and that's about it. Perfect!

I love the noise guinea pigs make, not so much the squealing, although that's very cute but just the little mumbling and chattering they do when they are pottering around, especially when it's a big group of them.

Squickety · 24/02/2019 15:36

Complete silence is the best sound (or non-sound) ever. Closely followed by Ddog's ridiculously cute snores.

WoollyMummoth · 24/02/2019 16:00

The sound of a key in the lock as one of my lot is coming in from work or school.
The wind whistling down the chimney.
The muffled sound of my kids just doing their thing in their rooms.
The sound of dh making up crap lyrics to songs in the kitchen and laughing to himself when he thinks no one is listening.
Oh and bits going up the vacuum!
