Waterworld or splash landings?

DD wants to go to a water park, can any one recommend which is better put of eater world or splash landings?

2 older dc who can swim confidently and love slides and one younger dc age 6 who isn't quite there yet.

Splash landings is closed over Feb half term, so if you’re going tomorrow it will have to be water world.
I’ve never been to Water World but I’ve often looked at it-however as Merlin annual pass holders we get Splash Landings cheaper so it always wins Smile

Dextrodependant · 23/02/2019 16:31

We are looking for next weekend so both are open.

Would you day splash landings is good for older DC?

Water World is a bit gross to be honest!! I prefer splash landings

I agree, WaterWorld is really grubby. We went last half term and were queuing out the door to get in. If you can wait, go to Splash Landings.

endoflevelbaddy · 23/02/2019 16:45

Splash landings is open at the minute, not sure if it's closed next week but we've just got back from our half term break there.
My 6 and 9 year old loved it, but never been to waterworld so can't compare.

SmarmyMrMime · 23/02/2019 16:46

I think Splash Landings. Done both with Brownies. The lazy river bit works better than a pool, and there was more for weak swimmers to explore.

Water World is a bit disjointed. I once went with an 8yo non-swimming relative and we left early as there was very little to do. She was too big for the play area, the pool part was rammed with older children/ teenagers (half term) and she could only go on a couple of water slides. I object to the lockers eating £1 too, particularly when you end up losing a second £1 after getting shampoo and towels out.

I'm a fan of Water Meadows in Mansfield.

Dextrodependant · 23/02/2019 18:36

I don't fancy a grubby pool. I hate the thought of swimming pools at the best of times.

Sorry I didn’t make it very clear-splash landings isn’t so much closed as only open to hotel guests over February half term-it’s part of Pirates and Princesses take over.

I would say there’s plenty for all ages to do at Splash, and looking at what everyone else is saying it’s seems to be a better place to go. We like it anyway Grin

dalmatianmad · 23/02/2019 18:44

I've been to both, splash landings is nicer but alot smaller. Better for younger dc.

My teenage dc prefer waterworld as the slides are bigger and the outdoor pool is good.

sighrollseyes · 23/02/2019 18:51

Splash landings all the way! Waterworld is cold and grubby

Ladylimpet · 23/02/2019 18:59

I was going to go to waterworld on Mon, but been put off after reviews. Think we'll go to water meadows instead. Dss, is just happy to be in water, and looks like it has a play centre thing there too.

Hughes12345 · 23/02/2019 19:00

Water world was disgusting when we went. Couldn’t get out of there quick enough.

BifsWif · 24/02/2019 07:15

Water meadows is my local pool and I don’t really get the love for it. It’s a council run pool, the water is freezing and it’s also grubby. There is a (very small) play area next to the cafe that you have to pay extra for.

There has to be somewhere better surely?

BifsWif · 24/02/2019 07:16

If you can travel a bit further Doncaster Dome is meant to be really good?

waits for someone to come and say it’s grubby

Zoflorabore · 24/02/2019 07:26

We've been to waterworld many times, we live in Liverpool so it's around an hour away.
My dc are 15 and 8 and both love it.

It's tired for sure but with the amount of visitors that's expected. I have OCD and have left places before due to feeling dirty etc but have never felt this with WW.

Another good place to go to is Blackpool Sandcastle. Expensive but worth it.

millimat · 24/02/2019 08:15

I like both but agree with pp that teens will prefer water world. Where are you traveling from?

Dextrodependant · 24/02/2019 10:23

Traveling from Liverpool so sandcastle is do able too.

The issues mentioned are whats throwing me. Splashlandings didnt look as exciting as waterworld but waterworld looks tired on pictures. We last went 3 years ago and it was a bit grubby then to be fair.

No point travelling to mansfield from liverpool for the sake of water meadows its just a regular pool with occasional waves and sometimes the slides wont be broken the baby pool is so hard to get into while holding a baby / toddler as its got a mountain of tile to climb over first.

Water world is gross and quite dangerous, i slipped over there while pregnant (spectating) and ended up getting pushed along by the queue of people behind me whilst on the floor and very visably pregnant. Staff saw me didnt bat an eyelid.

Splash landings is so much more fun

Zoflorabore · 24/02/2019 15:14

Op have you been to the Southport water park recently? I think it's pretty good and has something for all ages.
Ds (15) has been obsessed with water parks for as long as I can remember. We've been all over the place and I honestly think WW is worth the trip. We've had several groupon deals for it too. It's a lot more expensive than it was only a few years ago and parking is no longer free.

Zoflorabore · 24/02/2019 15:20

Re:Blackpool. Dp took 8yr old dd yesterday to the fair as it's half price until the end of March but the parking was £18!!
He found a car park for £4 but many others didn't and it turned into an expensive day.

millimat · 24/02/2019 18:16

Also keep your eye out as there's one opening in Rhyl very soon Wink

millimat · 24/02/2019 18:35

Fwiw I don't find Waterworld very grotty.

Dextrodependant · 24/02/2019 19:06

I have never been to the Southport one. I will have a Google of it.

I think the water meadows one is a bit far.

@millimat it'll never beat Rhyl Sun Centre for awesomeness. Oh, the memories!

Zoflorabore · 24/02/2019 20:09

Oh Rhyl :) loved it as a kid. We last went when ds was 7 and I was a few months pregnant with dd and didn't go in. That was 2010. An absolute shame they shut it.

Op definitely take a look at Southport one, it's pretty good and obviously a lot closer.
