Arghhh what are these spots?? (Pics included)

I've been developing these spots since about August last year. First noticed a few on my back and then they appeared on my belly and neck/collarbone area.

They aren't painful or itchy at all, literally no other symptoms apart from these weird spots. They're more browny than red. The first pic is my belly (sorry Grin) and the second is on my neck.

I've looked into ringworm but they're not itchy or scaly.

I'm in my mid 20s so probably not age related, in good health, no sun beds etc.

Am I about to turn into the next Spider-Man???

The 2nd pic looks like ringworm

justasking111 · 19/02/2019 20:19

The first picture I have those, an age thing I recall my Mother getting them and panicking when they started turning up. The second picture I am baffled. Go see your GP

TheSmallestEgg · 19/02/2019 20:21

I thought it could be ringworm but it's not raised, itchy or crusty at all? They're completely flat with the same texture as the rest of my skin?

It looks fungal, maybe see the pharmacist?

Frostyapples · 19/02/2019 20:23

Could be a fungal infection a bit like ringworm - can't remember the name but my daughter had it a few years ago- cream from the gp fixed it

Fluffyears · 19/02/2019 20:23

My dad had something similar on his back. A dermatologist told him to use Selsun shampoo, the selenium sulphate cured it.

Sunflower1989 · 19/02/2019 20:25

Ask a professional. Pharmacist might know or even your GP/triage nurse if need be.

Here's the ones on my back

Second pic looks like the ringworm my teen had, that wasn’t itchy Or scaly either. Cleared up with OTC Clotrimazole cream. Do you spend time with animals?
You could go and show a pharmacist or book to see GP.

Pinkiii · 19/02/2019 20:29

Its a fungal infection, i had this on my chest and back last year, GP prescribed a cream and it went away thank god Smile

TheSmallestEgg · 19/02/2019 20:30

I've got 10+ years of acne/acne scars on my back and chest so it makes it harder to work out skin discolouration/changes etc but thanks everyone, I'm going to pop to the pharmacy later in the week and see what they think of it!

It looks like something I had, I treated it with head and shoulders shampoo. Just rubbed some on and left it for a minute or two before showering each day.

TheSmallestEgg · 19/02/2019 20:32

Don't spent any time with animals, it seems anti fungal cream is the way to go. I'm relieved it's hopefully a simple cure!

It could also be a type of eczema (discoid) which can be misdiagnosed as ringworm

happyasasandboy · 19/02/2019 20:34

I had something that looked the same as this for years with no idea what it was. Eventually a complete stranger said he'd had it and it was fungal and so to try athletes foot cream.

Two applications of athletes foot cream and it was gone. If it's not in a sensitive place then it's worth a go!

Stinkytoe · 19/02/2019 20:34

Tinea versicolour

sushisuperstar · 19/02/2019 20:35

I've had that - go to the docs and they will sort you with some cream.

TheSmallestEgg · 19/02/2019 20:35

I have Head and Shoulders shampoo so I will try that! It's a bit tricky trying to stretch around and get my back though Grin

Eczema does seem to run in my family and discoid eczema looks very similar to what I've got so that could be it!

I used to have these, in my cleavage of all places. They'd come and go and it was years before they completely went. GP said apparently they're more common on darker skin, where they appear paler, and it is a fungal infection but not harmful or anything to worry about. I was prescribed cream but stopped bothering with it and they went on their own in the end.

TheSmallestEgg · 19/02/2019 20:36

Happy - love the idea of a complete stranger diagnosing you Grin

Pandasarecute · 19/02/2019 20:39

Possibly pityriasis rosea? I had this, initially it was diagnosed as ring worm then when the treatment did nothing and I went back I was told it was pityriasis rosea. Particularly if it spreads get it checked (and let us know!)

Lightofday · 19/02/2019 20:41

Look like underboob rash. Stick some thrush cream on it twice a day for 3 days n if it is fungal it'll go away.
