Seriously freaked out

I hope im posting this in the right place because im seriously freaked out but this is something i havent got a clue about. So DD is 3 and for about a year has been telling me about "scarf man". Ive never really thought much of it tbh and just passed it off as a toddlers imagination but in the last couple of months she started going into more detail and its starting to freak me out. Out of interest i asked her what scarf man looked like and she said she didnt know because the scarf covers his face. This scared the hell out of me because anything hiding its face cant be good. She told me he keeps waking her up and talking to her, i asked what he said and one of the things she said was he wanted her to close her bedroom door (we leave her door ajar at night) although she doesnt seem to be afraid of him, more inconvenienced than anything. By this point i was suitably terrified by this point but was trying not to give it to much thought until DP told me that tuesday night hed had a very restless night with lots of nightmares and had woken because DD was stirring abit to find a man with a scarf over his face stood in the doorway of our bedroom. He says he only saw him for a second and then he was gone, then looked at his phone to check the time, it was 6:15. Over the last few months ive been waking up at 6:15 (not anywhere near my normal wake up time and i work lates so normally sleep till my alarm at 8) and cannot get back to sleep. Fwiw ive never really given anything of the supernatural much thought, dont know whether i believe or not and have never experienced anything so i really have no idea what to do about this but im scared he may be some kind of threat to my daughter. Any advice from anyone?

Yeah I wouldn’t be thinking supernatural at all Confused
I’d be thinking far worse tbh

You learn so much on Mumsnet. I never knew there were Emergency Mediums. What are they, the 6th emergency service?

Mummytumm · 17/02/2019 13:51

My daughter used to talk to 'someone' in her bedroom. After some research, it turned out it was a character off Peppa Pig. Please check what is on the TV/which characters in books your child has access to, it will just be an overactive imagination. And the power of suggestion is very strong, hence why your partner may have thought he 'saw' scarf man. And isn't it funny these things happen the second someone wakes up? Subconscious/conscious mind overlapping in the split second you wake up.
There will be a rational explanation for this.

Sorry but this nearly made me spit out my coffee Grin

Your local church may send a well meaning vicar or priest who will insist on saying prayers. But you will probably need to approach the local bishop's office as they are likely to have access to the more successful mediums and will assess your needs accurately.

BettyUnderswoob · 17/02/2019 14:29

I wouldn't get a medium in as a pp suggested, I hear they're kind of average 😂

flumpybear · 17/02/2019 14:30

Check your loft

Mumbunsandhuns · 18/02/2019 07:16

Hope you are all ok I wouldn’t like this!

Cheetahssitonfajitas · 18/02/2019 07:35

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 18/02/2019 07:50

Dodgylooking · 18/02/2019 12:01

As far as i know its not every night just every now and then.
Our whole estate used to be an isolation hospital before ww2. Makes it soooo much creepier

I told my parents pretty much the same thing throughout my childhood. It was sleep paralysis.

E20mom · 18/02/2019 12:05

Check out the symptoms it's pretty textbook.

JaneJeffer · 18/02/2019 12:36

Turn the heating up full blast so it's too hot for a scarf.

Patroclus · 18/02/2019 14:35

Our mad next door neighbour got some sort of exorcist in. The house had been built in the 80s and he was the first owner.

JaneJeffer · 18/02/2019 14:52

Yes but what was there before Patroclus?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 18/02/2019 14:57

You're going to need a young priest and an old priest Wink

sagradafamiliar · 18/02/2019 14:59

I see an old woman dressed in rags, sometimes she gets up into my face and screams. It's as real as you reading these words.
It's not an over active imagination, it's a widely accepted form of sleep paralysis.

Shock I would crap my pants every time.

IvanaPee · 18/02/2019 17:20

Toddler with a good imagination.

DP who is dreaming of toddler’s chatter about scarf man.

And your body clock waking at 6.15 then waking DP or vice versa.

Come on! It’s not that much of a stretch is it?

redzebra10 · 18/02/2019 18:59

you've met my mom then Grin

Patroclus · 18/02/2019 19:00

Actually, it was built on the land of an old plague hospital ha.

onlywanttosleep · 18/02/2019 19:12

I did search for this but no joy. I remember a poster on here a while back telling how their toddler had been terrified by "raisin man", a man with a wrinkly face who they saw in the corner of a room. That room was avoided by all, until one day "raisin man" was spotted in the lounge and turned out to be a bluebottle :)
Just saying that what children report, and truly believe, may not be as scary as you think.

flapjackfairy · 19/02/2019 21:22

Was it all quiet last night ?

tinatsarina · 19/02/2019 22:39

I'm intrigued to see if it happens every night or not.
