Seriously freaked out

Dodgylooking · 15/02/2019 20:28

I hope im posting this in the right place because im seriously freaked out but this is something i havent got a clue about. So DD is 3 and for about a year has been telling me about "scarf man". Ive never really thought much of it tbh and just passed it off as a toddlers imagination but in the last couple of months she started going into more detail and its starting to freak me out. Out of interest i asked her what scarf man looked like and she said she didnt know because the scarf covers his face. This scared the hell out of me because anything hiding its face cant be good. She told me he keeps waking her up and talking to her, i asked what he said and one of the things she said was he wanted her to close her bedroom door (we leave her door ajar at night) although she doesnt seem to be afraid of him, more inconvenienced than anything. By this point i was suitably terrified by this point but was trying not to give it to much thought until DP told me that tuesday night hed had a very restless night with lots of nightmares and had woken because DD was stirring abit to find a man with a scarf over his face stood in the doorway of our bedroom. He says he only saw him for a second and then he was gone, then looked at his phone to check the time, it was 6:15. Over the last few months ive been waking up at 6:15 (not anywhere near my normal wake up time and i work lates so normally sleep till my alarm at 8) and cannot get back to sleep. Fwiw ive never really given anything of the supernatural much thought, dont know whether i believe or not and have never experienced anything so i really have no idea what to do about this but im scared he may be some kind of threat to my daughter. Any advice from anyone?

i regularly see my dad and nan who have both passed away, maybe it's someone who lived in the house before or a relative in disguise, as they say, the dead can't harm you, only the living can 🤷🏽‍♀️

pregnantforever · 15/02/2019 22:24

I don't want to say much about the details because it's very outing but I've spent 3 years in a haunted house with under 5s and everything witnessed was seen by both dp & I.

We had emergency mediums out after putting up with it and reassuring each other for ages that we didn't believe.
Everything stopped that night they came out to get rid of him. And for about 5/6 months it was ok until he came back and it escalated. We have since moved house, rapidly!

I feel so sorry for anybody in this situation who owns their house as we were out and moved so quickly, although it's not a choice I'd have made if we weren't desperate.

We had gorgeous neighbors and were only metres from the school.

Advice we received was to call the emergency mediums (we went to local spiritualist church & explained situation, they gave us the number and they came back later that week), to say the Lord's Prayer each day, other people advised to put bibles & crystals under beds & sage the house.
We were scared so we did make the kids say the Lord's Prayer each night before bed, we tried to make it like a game to recite the words, we were terrified. We're not even religious. None of us are christened although that's something I'm thinking about now.

I think these situations are more common than you think, it's just hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it because you look nuts.

I regularly say to my other half "if I'd have lived in that house by myself I'd have just put myself on medication or something and questioned my mental state, but because we saw it all together at least there's that"

OMG 😲 I got freaked out just reading this! They say children are the ones who usually see things the most as they are more 'accepting' to it. I've seen things before and it's terrifying. Maybe you should get someone in to move this spirit? The whole part where you said 'he asked her to shut the door' 😥 I wouldn't even wanna live there, this must be so hard for you 😣. Maybe get a median in (if you spell it like that). My mum saw a median and of course didn't know any background but the stuff he was saying was accurate! They can also help spirits move on x

Jesus Christ

No, I don't think he wore a scarf Grin

DS2 is convinced that he did a bunch of stuff "when he was older". He was always one of those babies who had that 'been round before' quality about him, so we joked about him being the All-Father for a while. Now he has frequent stories to tell me about his Uncle Grandfather, and it gets creepy.
We've concluded he's a 3 year old with an overactive imagination/a reincarnated Viking, but I've had to stop re-reading American Gods for the fourth time because it's freaking me out. It's definitely making me think too much and night time is the worst for that.
Our brains are incredible things, our subconscious makes links we can't always track - it sounds like there are lots of slightly freaky-sounding ideas flying around and it's creeping into everyone's imaginations. I really don't think there's anything real you need to worry about if DD is happy in herself.

i regularly see my dad and nan who have both passed away,

Do you though? 🤨

sweetpeach91 · 16/02/2019 01:10

Oh man that's given me the chills!! And the fact you've all been waking up at 6.15 on the dotShockShock

Salt the house, sage it, get a priest in and if all else fails- burn it.

Update us if anything else happens op!

sweetpeach91 · 16/02/2019 01:14

@pregnantforever what did you all witness?Shock so glad you're out and doing okay now, I 100% would have left like you did. Did you find any history about the house?

Theconifers25 · 16/02/2019 09:22

I wish I'd never read this nowConfused

HeadfirstForHalos · 16/02/2019 11:37

I wouldn't get a median in as a pp suggested, I hear they're kind of average.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 16/02/2019 11:38

I used to see things as a child and I still experience things now. I think it's possible she is seeing something but honestly she's only 3 and it's more likely to be a combination of bad dreams and overactive imagination. Sometimes my kids the same age as yours, say stuff that doesn't really make sense but that's just them being kids.

Parthenope · 16/02/2019 11:41

Headfirst Grin

Skinwalker · 16/02/2019 11:41

I would not assume ghost, I would think paedophileShock please protect your child

Kittykat93 · 16/02/2019 11:48

@Skinwalker

Protect her child how?? Are you suggesting an actual paedophile Is in the op's house?? I very much doubt it.

Skinwalker · 16/02/2019 11:59

well,it is far more likely than a ghostHmm

RaffertyFair · 16/02/2019 12:07

well,it is far more likely than a ghost

Eh? A paedophile that has been visiting the house at 6.15 in the morning, was seen by the DP but vanished .....

My money is not on a ghost either Wink

EwItsAHooman · 16/02/2019 12:23

Paedophile sneaking into the house is as likely as ghost and both are so unlikely as to be impossible.

It's a 3yo with an imaginary friend and OP has taken that idea and ran with it.

WeCameToDance · 16/02/2019 13:18

Its far more likely to be a child with an overactive imagination and your dh may have had sleep paralysis or just wasnt fully awake yet. I can see why you would be spooked though, cant say I wouldn't be in the same situation. My 3 year old keeps mentioning someone called 'Spooky' to me. Well this Spooky apparently likes ice cream and is orange and black. I think I'll take my chances with Spooky over Scarf man Grin

MitziK · 16/02/2019 14:46

Spooky sounds like Tigger in Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie, so at least your hunny is safe.

Scarf Man could easily be somebody the LO has seen out and about or on TV, whether it was somebody wrapped up against the cold or a daft teenager with the stupid mask thing on to look all Gangsta - it's got into their dreams and, because somebody leaves for work or is delivering/emptying bins at 6.15am, they are waking up right at the end of a dream about him.

Your DP is just dreaming because of the suggestion over a long time - and waking up for the same reason.

If it makes you feel any better, change the locks, but it's not anything to be freaked out by.

Dodgylooking · 16/02/2019 17:05

Maybe ive just been watching to many horror films. Definitely not watching insidious for a while
SkinWalker im pretty sure a paedophile isnt regularly breaking into my house.
Thanks for all the rational thinking, its definitely calming me down alot

Brownbootscoldheart · 16/02/2019 17:12

Can you set a camera up in her room? Use a baby monitor and tell her to call you if she’s awoken?

MiddleClassProblem · 17/02/2019 04:38

Well... it could be The Doctor looking for her/his next companion Wink

whilethechiefputsshineonleith · 17/02/2019 10:22

this has actually freaked me out big time pregnantforever id love to hear some stories about your house. x

whilethechiefputsshineonleith · 17/02/2019 13:25

is the scarf man there everynight? or is it only sometimes. x

GerryblewuptheER · 17/02/2019 13:30

Omg

I think I'd be equal measures scared but intrigued. Do some research on the house. See what was there before it was built. Previous residents etc
