Did anyone else give their DC a valentines card?

I remember as a kid (about 5ish) getting a card, a box of dominoes and some after eights off my Mum's boyfriend at the time.

Always wondered if this was a thing.

I got DS (aged 4) a valentines card and simply put inside "You're my little Prince. I love you more than the plant earth (something he says to me) Love Mummy"

I obviously got DH a card.

Am I odd?

My husband’s mother still buys and sends an ‘anonymous’ card for him on Valentine’s Day. Personally I find it a little odd, given he’s a grown man with a family of his own but it’s not a battle I’m interested in fighting.

We don’t actually bother buying making sure the meal plan includes ‘something nice’.

We got DD a heart shaped biscuit and she was delighted. DM used to get me and my siblings heart shaped chocolate or a chocolate lolly when we were younger and I've carried it on.

I forgot to get something for my DC this year - usually very much 'on it'. Feel awful as they've given me lovely handmade cards & given grief all evening for 'neglecting them' 🙈!!

Vargas: it isnt sweet, it really isn't. Don't say I didn't warn you if she snaps and sticks you with a kitchen knife now. You'll totally deserve it.

Well aren't you lovely lightofday Hmm

Personally I would only ever get a card for my husband. My sons childminder and later nursery made cards for Valentine's Day in the past, from him for us. It was nice but again I don't see today as something to do with children or parents.
But each to their own

I got my husband, my 2 children and the dog a card. Hubby got me some chocs and we all shared them. We also celebrate Valentines Day as a day of love for each other, doesn't have to be romantic. I can think of much worse things going on in the world.

DS5 insisted on flowers for his teacher - a bunch of daffodils and we made little cards for every child in his class with a small sweet taped to the back. Blush I know its OTT but it just felt nice to do something nice.

I get the DCs cards and a little heart shaped choc.
I do it because my Dad always did it for me, and like a PP, when I was a teen who was very low in confidence and was never going to get a romantic card from anyone, that little gesture made what could have been quite a depressing day into a happy one.

When 2yo DS opened his card this morning he said “oh Mummy, you are such a lovely kind Mummy!” How can that be a bad thing?!

I was going to get my DC one, and I didn't then my youngest made a fuss of me and made me one!! I felt so bad..
