I have no hobbies. What are yours?

I've just realised that since having the kids 7 years ago, I've basically given up all my interests except reading. I'm a bit lonely I think and I can't even remember what I enjoyed doing pre-kids. I'm sure I watched loads of films and saw friends more. But now I feel a bit thick, a bit left on the shelf and wonder where I'll find time for a hobby. Yet actually, if I ditched my phone and reading blogs etc I'd have more time. My kids have been very dependent on me and perhaps I've been too good at being attentive and now want to get some of me back or discover new stuff. Money is a usual excuse.

Rowing (only possible now ds is a teenager)
Book club.
I have a friend who is in a cookery book club - not quite sure how it works but sounds cool.
Walking - I'm in a big informal WhatsApp group of female walkers, you just post if you fancy walking and someone will pretty much always be free to join in.
another vote for singing, did it in the past, it's the best.

StillMedusa · 04/02/2019 19:46

Walking is my hobby... usually end up at a pub...😂

mamaduckbone · 04/02/2019 19:52

I’m in a book club which is just an excuse for a gossip with my friends really as I read all the time anyway, but it is at least social.
I also took up samba drumming about 18 months ago and really love it - you have to really concentrate and it’s so uplifting.
That’s about all there’s time for with work and kids but I felt like you and now I feel like there’s a little bit of time that’s just for me.

mineofuselessinformation · 04/02/2019 19:57

I suffer from anxiety and find 'diamond painting' very soothing - and the pictures I make are quite satisfying.

mamahanji · 04/02/2019 20:01

Ovo My inner witch is trying not to jump up and down at the thought there are other wizarding folk who cross stitch 😂😂

PRoseLegend · 04/02/2019 20:01

I enjoy polymer clay.
It's quite a forgiving medium, and you can put it down and pick it up again when baby stops crying etc because it doesn't dry out like air-dry clay.
I make little dragon and cat figurines mostly, and I have also made some "stained glass" out of liquid clay and chalk pastels. It's fun.

QueenOfCatan · 04/02/2019 20:08

Knitting, crochet and studying currently. Once number 2 is here and settled I plan to go back to climbing and swimming :)

DaedricLordSlayer · 04/02/2019 20:08

At the moment horses, video games and reading

When the DC were little, I joined a newly formed women's Morris troop, it was great, practiced once a week, had dance outs all over the place, got to meet some great and lovely people and went to cèilidhs and barn dances.

VanillaSauce · 04/02/2019 20:09

Hiking, cycling and gardening. I really need to find some more winter friendly hobbies. The snow and ice have really stopped things. On the other hand my house is nice and clean.

DaedricLordSlayer · 04/02/2019 20:14

Oh and where I use to live, a friend set up craft nights, she'd pre prepare the bags of material we'd need and we'd pay a fiver then get pissed and make Xmas cards/ gift boxes ect....

I miss my old life sometimes

I go to the gym 5 times a week and fry to see friends at least once a week. I also love reading and have an hour a night on MN! A friend has just got into paddle boarding so I'm going go try that this year too.

Other than that, the kids keep me busy (even though they are now 11 & 13) and I'm happy not to have every hour of every day filled with something!
