Got mine to concede that a hoodie and denim jacket was necessary and appropriate given the sub-zeroness of the temperature.

I'm calling that a parenting win Grin

My DD must be odd.....most days she leaves the house in tights, leggings, trousers and socks on her bottom half and a tshirt, jumper, a jacket and coat on top (plus a wooly hat)

In my school, we have trouble prising the teens out of their coats, and our school is always heated to tropical temperatures.

Contrary creatures!

Has voluntarily put a long sleeved top on underneath the t-shirt of choice this morning.

Could this be a sign of the end of days?

Teenagers and toddlers are not dissimilar. I just used to pack extra clothing for mine when they were toddlers, rather than argue about it. Then when they said they were cold, they would be quite glad to find a coat in the bottom of the buggy.

I don't converse with DD (15) about coats, beyond observing that it's very cold outside. If she wants to be cold and/or wet, that's her lookout. So she duly trots off to school dressed as if it's 70 degrees. Agree with those who say they become a bit more sensible as they get older. DS (17) wears a long wool coat over his uniform. He is also partial to his scarf and gloves. This same boy wore shorts every single day when he was at prep school even when they were deemed old enough to wear trousers...
