I've tried everything labelled "sensitive on skin" etc and nothing helps. Thinking of trying the Eco Egg but don't want smelly washing!

make sure it has no scented stuff in it only use white pure fabric conditioner. If all else fails non bio

Pissedoffdotcom · 25/01/2019 20:57

DD had shocking eczema as a tot & could only tolerate Fairy. Thankfully grown out now. Non bio is the way forward ime. Eco eggs (again ime) are shite

rosydreams · 25/01/2019 21:01

thats so odd for my family fairy was the worst. My dad once bought it instead of the usual stuff and we reacted so badly so it.He ended up having to do all the laundry all over again =p

Bet he regretted that one haha. I guess it depends on the child. Everyone used to tell me to use E45 & some other well known cream (brain fog) for DD...then look like i was lying when i said it made her worse 🙄

redredvino · 25/01/2019 21:09

Fairy non bio for us too, comfort pure. I have a friend who has a baby boy with terrible eczema. He's recently been hospitalised, she uses the egg. I've tried but it just wasn't washing the clothes

Vinorosso74 · 25/01/2019 21:09

Simply Pure tablets (I can't link but the bag is a pale pink). Sainsburys sell them and they helped me DD. Surcare is ok too but I find these wash better.
Fairy was bad here also-too much perfume. Also avoid fabric softener.

Pillowaddict · 26/01/2019 02:45

We use fairy but recently eco egg with a bit of eco laundry liquid and its absolutely fine, clean and nice smelling, just not strong/perfumed. Both dc have eczema, and me.

mantlepiece · 26/01/2019 03:04

Odly it’s Surf in our house. I tried all sorts over the years and had given up to be honest, found out by accident really. If I use anything else now back comes the eczema with a vengeance!

As people say though, what works for one doesn’t work for another.

Buntybearbess · 26/01/2019 03:37

Ecover is what my friend uses, my skin is best with Daz, can't use anything else without a break out and an allergic reaction.

WinterHeatWave · 26/01/2019 04:10

Trial and error!
Fairy non bio, and an extra rinse here. No conditioner.

We also used soap nuts for a bit - typically using soap for whites and towels, but the soap nuts for colours.

TheSerenDipitY · 26/01/2019 04:58

not sure if you have it there.. but i think Lux flakes are meant to be good

mywigwamneedsnewflaps · 26/01/2019 05:18

I'm an itchy and can only use fairy non bio , no conditioner
I only use a little scoop of powder as nothing is very dirty

PineappleTart · 26/01/2019 05:19

All can use is persil non bio, no fabric conditioner. Learned years ago not to try anything new

artisanscotcheggs · 26/01/2019 05:25

Surcare.

ParadiseLaundry · 26/01/2019 05:28

We saw improvement in DS's skin when I started using Bio washing powder and tumble drying the clothes which would be lying next to his skin. Obviously can't know it was that for sure but it certainly didn't make it any worse.

Contrary to what a lot of people say works for them we've found that a small amount of fabric conditioner is essential too. It's as if the scratchy touch material makes his skin worse. We use fairy and avoid heavily scented ones.

Eczema is so hard, isn't it? What works really well for someone can make others a lot worse!

CharlyAngelic · 26/01/2019 05:28

Surcare, liquid form . I get it in Sainsbury’s.

CharlyAngelic · 26/01/2019 05:29

I also only use half the recommended dose.

tectonicplates · 26/01/2019 05:36

Bicarbonate of soda.

IGNORE that advice ( hopefully deleted) I am in wrong thread with it .

GreasyFryUp · 26/01/2019 05:55

Yes to less powder and maybe try a soap based one (try looking in a whole food type shop). Bio D, Sonnett etc.

MaggieFS · 26/01/2019 06:05

Ariel works for me, but I had to try a few to work that out. Non bio is a fallacy which was invented by Persil (it's cheaper for them to make as it doesn't contain the really good cleaning bio stuff) which doesn't exist in most other countries and people with dermatitis get on just fine! Most likely it would be a reaction to the specific fragrance so it's a bit of trial and error sadly to find one which works, ditto for fabric softener.

Fozzleyplum · 26/01/2019 06:07

When DS had eczema, I gave his washing an extra rinse and stopped using fabric conditioner, as it irritated his skin.

OhTheRoses · 26/01/2019 06:10

Persil non bio and comfort pure.

WhoTFIsAlanBrazil · 26/01/2019 06:12

We used Surcare, it was really good for DD. It isn't scented at all and made a real difference straight away.

She has grown out of her eczema now though, so I have reverted back to standard detergent because I missed the smell
