Weight/metabolism- am I really abnormal?

Hi
I'm wondering if anyone else shares a similar body shape/metabolism to me.

As a child I was very very thin, very underweight. So much so that I was carted off to gp and given all sorts of potions but I was just honestly never hungry. I was made to stay school dinners in an effort to get me to eat but I just never had any appetite and eating when I was t hungry made me gag. I remember once being forced to eat a trifle at school and it coming straight back up Blush

This is me! I've just started cutting down on food, stopped alcohol for a bit and have stopped eating chocolate crap and have lost half a stone. I hate my stomach

In the morning I'll take a pic of the scales.

Veg I don't drink so I can't cut that out, don't take sugar in my tea so can't cut that out either, bit of a bummer. However, I walk everywhere, do a physical job, do the school run twice a week and if I get chance I'll swim once a week (not possible at the mo, running round after ill parents at the mo). When I do swim I walk to the pool and home again, unless it's raining, I'm not that evangelical! (about 4 miles in total?) I don't go to the gym because I don't have time and besides, I don't want to!
Cutting down and upping the fruit has worked a treat for me.

rytonsister · 23/01/2019 20:20

When I said I look a size 16 I meant it. This is me in a size 12 jean and a large slim fit jumper. I will post the scales in morning to show I'm around 10st 5 at min. I am 5ft 4 (or do I need to stand in front of the custody height chart at work to prove that too?)

I'm not sure you look a size 16 but you do look as though you are carrying more weight than suits your frame. I hope I haven't offended you by saying that.

I'm the same height as you and quite a bit heavier - need to tackle it and starting on the exercise on Saturday along with changing my awful eating habits. I'm naturally pear-shaped so the excess weight distribution is different.

rytonsister · 23/01/2019 20:40

Wowfudge not at all offended I need people to see the reality of what I'm saying . I am fat. I jumped on Scales this morning and was 10st 5.

Dp who is very healthy and fit says bmi is outdated and its waist measurement that is the indicator to health. (Fat round middle) Clearly you can see from pic my waist is vastly more than it should be for my body .

Why are you very anemic? You eat meat & don't seem to describe any risk factors for being very anemic. Ditto with the folate. Why do you have such poor iron absorption?

rytonsister · 23/01/2019 20:48

I presume the anaemia is from very heavy periods now.

I have a regular cycle and periods last 5 days but days 2 -4 are awful and very heavy. I have to Change a super plus tampon every 2 hours min and use a pad too for leaks plus (sorry for tmi here ) but my blood loss is heavy with what looks like chopped liver. This is not what I was like before my pregnancy loss at 14 weeks. But it is now. And I presume that's why I'm anaemic. ?

OP posts:
rytonsister · 23/01/2019 20:50

Oh and I'm also on PPI meds which inhibit iron absorption.

Sorry about your pregnancy loss.
Is OP the sort of candidate (history) that benefits from uterine ablation, anybody know?

rytonsister · 26/01/2019 12:52

The blood sugar diet book came today and the recipe book. Going to give it a go. Need to shop and think some of it will be really hard when I'm working but nothing ventured....

Thank you. (Giving up my couple of vinos g&t is gonna be hard!)

You sound very like me, though I’m taller at 5’9

I was often talked to about anorexia, I tipped 7st in my twenties. Similar back story food wise

About 30-35 I suddenly increased from 8’10 as an average to 11st. I’m within the healthy weight range yet really flabby! Not just saying that. I’m ok in my skin but I can see I’m weirdly fatty. I had gestational diabetes at 10st when pregnant, my mum developed diabetes in her 40s and has never been overweight in her life.

shutuppeppa · 26/01/2019 13:01

Just seen the pic, we are very similar... though I have long limbs

rytonsister · 26/01/2019 17:23

Shutuppepper

At least we aren't alone! Been on iron for a couple of weeks now and just starting to feel less fatigued.

The sugar diet book has an 8 week meal plan in the back so for ease think I'm just gonna follow to the letter and see how many weeks it takes to lose 22lb. Feel quite positive reading it and certainly in days off it will be fairly easy . Working days may be more of a challenge I think as there is no snacking and every made from scratch including crackers ( no bread or carbs ). Never tried courgetti but will be ! No pasta or rice . The alternatives look interesting! But ready to try anything now to reboot my metabolism and get my blood sugar down

Two things worked for me, low carb and intermittent fasting. Nothing else had any effect. Low carb was hard a first but settled. Fasting days are quite effective as well
