Where do you most want to visit? Is there a reason?

I know it's one of those generic questions, I'm not expecting loads of replies, but it's nice to see a wider range of opinions! It fascinates me how different we all are!

I want to visit Tanzania and go to the Serengeti.

I want to go to India purely to experience Holi festival.

What about you?

Also more of Africa, especially Mali and Ethiopia, plus Argentina, Uruguay. Anywhere I haven’t been really and I have been lucky to visit over 50 countries.

MrsPear · 23/01/2019 07:29

I would love to see Egypt and India - but as a woman I refuse to take that risk,. There is a lot of unreported stuff if you follow non English news sites you would see.

Serin · 23/01/2019 09:52

Costa Rica.
South Island New Zealand (to see my pen pal).
Santa Cruz (California) to see my cousins.
Verona.

AgentProvocateur · 23/01/2019 10:16

I would love to go to Iran, and I’m working in the ME for a couple of years so it’s very accessible. Just not to people with U.K. passports. Sad

OKhitmewithit · 23/01/2019 10:48

A friend of mine has been to over 100 countries and I would like to be able to travel that widely. I've only been to 41

morningconstitutional2017 · 23/01/2019 10:49

I thought the USA was fascinating when I was a teenager but never went - I'm not sure if it would live up to the image.

I think Venice would be interesting but I've heard it smells! Plus the film 'Don't Look Now' makes it seem sinister and a coffee in St Mark's Square costs a fortune.

BitchQueen90 · 23/01/2019 10:53

Costa Rica. Cuba. Japan. Hawaii. Australia. Iceland. Madagascar.

I am not well travelled due to not having the finances, I haven't been out of Europe. My financial situation has improved over the last year so I am aiming to travel more now.

scaryteacher · 23/01/2019 10:54

The Falklands; Antarctica; Norway; Sweden (going there in April); Vienna again (end of Feb, more cake); Venice (read too many Donna Leon novels); Rome; Vancouver; Vancouver Island (again, loved it last time); Istanbul again, as there was so much to see and so little time; the Lake District; Skye; the Scottish Islands (Orkneys, Hebrides etc); Isle of Man; the Scillies; Seattle and Washington State; New England...need to win the lottery!

Buddyelf · 23/01/2019 10:56

Not many on mine, not a big traveler and I hate flying but there are a few places I really want to go
New York
Maldives
Norway - I want to see the Northern Lights (We tried in Iceland but had no luck)
Rome
Bora Bora
Egypt

Tika77 · 23/01/2019 11:05

Transylvania for its beautiful scenery and old fashioned cratfsmanship. (Especially the woodworkers and furniture painters).

DarlingNikita · 23/01/2019 11:34

Oh God, so many places, so little time and money!

Costa Rica
Patagonia, esp Chilean Patagonia coast
St Petersburg
Tashkent (have you SEEN the metro stations?!?!)
All the -stans for eagle hunting and horse trekking
Iran
Istanbul
Iceland
Canada, esp Vancouver and the Yukon
Portland, Oregon
Detroit
Buenos Aires
Central/Eastern European cities like Tallinn and Bucharest
The Inland Sea islands in Japan that have an art/sculpture trail
Hokkaido for the lavender fields (summer) and ice festival (winter)

That's not including places I've been to but would love to go back to (Shetland, Lisbon, India...)

HuggedtheRedwoods · 23/01/2019 11:44

Antarctica - for the whole experience, Falklands - for nature, and Nepal - the culture and to trek to the Everest basecamp, are currently top of my list but due to having 2 cats I'm restricted to very short trips as they have to go to a cattery which one of them finds stressful.

I still manage to travel but have to restrict it to 3 or 4 nights tops (long haul too, e.g. have done 4 night trips to California and China from the UK - basically doing as much as I can on very little sleep!) but would love to do a proper 3-4 week trip where I could take my time and take it all in. But I love my fur monsters more than do that.

Greycat11 · 23/01/2019 13:27

Madagascar to see the ring tailed lemurs.
I'd love to travel around all the Greek Islands too.

areyoubeingserviced · 23/01/2019 13:38

I have been all over the world (sixty five countries) but want to visit the following

Tokyo
South Africa
Ghana
Argentina
Brazil

LeSquigh · 23/01/2019 13:54

New York - just because NEW YORK!!

And somewhere I can see the Northern Lights.

delboysskinandblister · 23/01/2019 14:22

Aldi - We're out of bread

sansou · 23/01/2019 23:10

Hiking the trail to Machu Picchu, Peru
Travelling the South Island of New Zealand in a motorhome
Japan
Safari in Botswana

Actually, anywhere I don’t have a grumpy teenager trailing us moaning about being dragged on a once in a lifetime type holiday and missing his social life at home - like going to Cineworld with his mates! Grrrrr!

JaiNotJay · 23/01/2019 23:22

Japan. There's no one reason, I just think it would be fascinating and so different from anywhere I've ever been before.
Also Buenos Aires, mainly because I was obsessed with Evita as a teenager!
