@Greenandcabbagelooking I broke my ankle and foot with no idea how, walked on it for a week. Still no idea how I herniated my disc
My doctor looks suspicious now if I say "well I'm not sure how but.." Grin

Forceps birth injury, 7 years on putting anything up there (tampon, mooncup, penis) is an impossibility , even though I had corrective surgery 1 year later.

I got whacked on the forehead with a golf club when I was 8 (outs self!). I was plonked on the sofa with Scooby Doo on the telly and a packet of Frazzles and a cold wet flannel, no a&e. I still have bone damage, I look like one of those extreme tattoo people who have horns inserted under their skin Grin

I was a bit of a kamikaze child and am amazed I didn't have more broken bones, I'm made of rubber.

Ruptured Achilles tendon playing netball. Had surgery the day after, and was in plaster for 6 weeks. The worst thing about it all was having to go back to the hospital every 2 weeks so they could reposition my foot, then re plaster. The pain was off the scale.

Compound fracture with my tibia poking out the inside of my leg Envy not envy, still queasy when I think about it.
My leg is a complete mess still with an arthritic ankle and damaged nerves. Oh and slightly shorter than my other leg.

Brigante9 · 20/01/2019 20:49

Mine’s very gory, don’t open the pics up if you’re squeamish! I was catching in a mate’s horse, big lump of a mare, probably about 700kg. She decided to knock me down to get to another horse, trampled my leg, sheared off half the calf. Skin graft, 3 months off, subsequent blood clot, bleed in my skull, God, that hurt.

Pics are after 3 debridements (clean ups/necrotic skin removed) Surgeon said it was the worst injury he’d ever seen. Not a useful comment to say to me!

The black hole on the last pic is where the skin graft failed. Took 4 months for it to heal from inside and close.

AleFailTrail · 20/01/2019 21:32

The bone of my right upper arm broke when I flipped a quad bike at a track at about 3MPH. It was a clean break, right under the ball of the joint.
Then the entire thing dropped out and dislocated.
Found out in the next six months of healing (dr one in Cornwall’s temporary measure became dr. Two in Blackpool’s permanent even though dr one had advised against it) I’m fairly ambidextrous.
Yes, it took six months to heal and the Blackpool doctor wouldn’t allow a pin operation because I was a 15 year old girl and it would leave a nasty scar. If I’d known then what I know now I would have insisted on it.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 20/01/2019 21:36

Ruptured ectopic pregnancy and almost full blood loss. Unrecordable BP and barely a pulse in Resus, but a very quick thinking surgeon fluid resuscitated me simultaneously getting me into theatre to stop the bleed.

lynnepot · 20/01/2019 21:39

Sprained arm and kidney stones.

Elfinablender · 20/01/2019 21:44

I've been pretty lucky really, no big injuries. Few broken toes and fingers, a handful of stitches here and there. Not bad considering how clumsy I am.

Stereomum · 20/01/2019 21:48

Stroke at the age of 32, husband away on deployment with three young children.

Catcrazy008 · 20/01/2019 21:49

Car accident
Broken eye socket, nose, both cheek bones, upper jaw and left hip
Hurt a lot.
Operation to rebuild my face was even worse!

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 20/01/2019 21:54

@waterlego I've had that. Had to be operated on and the packed full of dressing to heal from the inside out as it was deep. District nurse had to come every day to repack it. Was very very painful before and after the op. Has never returned though thankfully and it was 25 years ago.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/01/2019 21:55

Sprained ankle. Not especially serious but I was on holiday so spent 5 out of 7 gloriously sunny days being wheeled around in a child's buggy. I was 11 years old and pretty mortified!

PivotPivotPivottt · 20/01/2019 21:57

Nothing. I've never had to go to A&E. I have probably jinxed myself now haven't I?

I was wrapped in cotton wool as a child and always wanted to break my arm or leg so I could have a cast and crutches and attention

Chesneyhawkes1 · 20/01/2019 21:57

I've broken my left collar bone twice, my left wrist, my right leg but the worst was a hairline fracture to the skull I guess.

I was a little tom boy as a child, always climbing trees and doing tricks, obviously poorly, on my bmx.

Fingers crossed, as an adult I've been ok so far.

MorningsEleven · 20/01/2019 22:01

I had a habit of knocking teeth out due to running full pelt into inanimate objects as a kid. As a result, some of my teeth are significantly younger than I am.

Also had a significant PPH with DC1. When I woke up from my crash section with DC2 (I'm shit at giving birth) I said "Did I bleed to death?" Fucking idiot 🤣

MsBekaa · 20/01/2019 22:03

Triple disc slip picking up the laundry from the floor, two of which had to be replaced a year later in a 5 hr op.

Most serious injury you have ever had in your life?
Celeriacacaca · 20/01/2019 22:05

Serious burns to leg. Skin grafts and isolation in hospital for three weeks.

blueangel1 · 20/01/2019 22:54

Motorbike accident many years ago. We were broadsided by a car doing nearly 70mph and I was flung over the roof of the car. Compound fracture of tib and fib, and the bones were sticking out. My foot was also partially severed and I would have bled to death had I not been near a hospital.

This was before the days of using retractors on this sort of injury, so one leg is slightly shorter and my ankle joint is almost totally fucked. I have very little movement in it and I limp to this day.

The long term consequences of this lot started some years ago. My foot and ankle are riddled with arthritis and I've had two herniated discs because I bear weight unevenly. My good hip has also borne the strain of me compensating for the bad leg and I don't think that's in very good shape either. Don't go on motorbikes!

blueangel1 · 20/01/2019 22:56

@MamaHechtick you sound like my injury sister!

TheTempest · 20/01/2019 23:19

Oh so many!
Broken both wrists, left ankle, right leg, both collar bones, all fingers on my left hand. All in separate accidents including falling off a bench in school!
Birth of my DD- SPd caused permanent hip damage. Masked by the slipped discs and only discovered recently waiting for a partial hip replacement. Massive pph 2 days post 7 day labour then crash c section, technically died in theatre and emergency hysterectomy. PTSD from the whole experience and left me with depression and anxiety.
Arnold Chiari malformation diagnosed last year after a mini stroke caused by a migraine?!
Scoliosis from spd untrested, caused 3 slipped discs in my back including l5/s1 that then turned into Cauda Equina. I was incredibly lucky though as I was at a ball up near London on a posh do at the time and so was taken to the leading neuro surgery hospital and operated on the next day. Few minor side effects but mostly healed really well from.
Gynae probkems again from the Birth which left me partial incontinent. Had an op last year and can actually not see myself all day now 😁 all that and I’m on early 30’s! Still working and living and getting better mentally.

NooNooHead1981 · 20/01/2019 23:27

Two minor head injuries and concussions/ post concussion syndrome, which resulted in very severe anxiety, a mental breakdown and then another acquired brain injury in the form of a drug induced involuntary movement disorder called Tardive Dyskinesia as a result of the stupid antipsychotic medication I was given during my breakdown. I’m still enduring the effects of the concussion and movement disorder now 4 years later. It was the most traumatic and awful experience I have been through and I honestly would have rather broken both legs than been through that hell.

An ectopic pregnancy and removal of my right tube. This was a piece of cake compared to the head injury and post concussion syndrome.

I’m sure my brain is totally buggered. Any more injuries to it and I will be a walking sodding vegetable.

Verbena87 · 20/01/2019 23:34

Childbirth. Emergency forceps delivery of 10lb9oz back to back baby which required an extended episiotomy, then post-partum haemorrhage requiring a blood transfusion. Burst stitch and infected stitches during healing and longer-term I’ve got pelvic nerve damage, pelvic organ prolapse and suspected levator avulsion (pelvic floor muscles ripped off the bone).

Good job he’s a nice baby Grin

Ollivander84 · 20/01/2019 23:38

It's crazy how many people have cauda equina considering it's meant to be quite rare. The hospital I was at were very quick to spot it, possibly because they missed my friends had a giant fuck up with solicitors involved and also I told them I had it

BlueEyedBengal · 21/01/2019 00:14

Crushed and tore off my right ring finger tip and nail and had to be rushed blue lights to another hospital for plastic surgery. Unfortunately they could only repair but the nail bed was left and it's taken 18 months for it to regrow some shape.
