When did you dye your hair?

Bit personal but what age was you when you dyed your hair and why? I've got quite nice brown colour hair but the greys are starting to really show and I'm starting to feel like I need to dye my hair but not sure, I'm 31 and never dyed it before xx

To People that have dyed their hair so young say at 10 etc or form teens do you regret it ? Because surely you’ve never relaly had time as an adult to have your own natura colour before it turned grey ?!

My natural colour was mouse which I didn't like. I always dyed mine a natural looking chestnut which with freckles suited me.

Stopped dyeing in mid-30s when I developed an allergy to the dye. Now a blonde-grey which was a nice surprise!

Oh and OP my hair was always soft and shiny when I dyed it.

BitchQueen90 · 20/01/2019 18:57

I was 13 and I've been dyeing it ever since.

Before my wedding, so I was 36. Very dark and wanted my hair up. I only have a few but all in the front typically.

I think I started at 15...and stopped at 48 when I decided enough was enough.. fed up of roots, and colours (whether I did it or had it done at the hairdressers) never being quite right.
3 years later I am streaky white, brown, grey and shades inbetween, growing it and am enjoying seeing it change as I age. I have been blonde, brown , red , green (oops) and every shade of highlights over the years but I do love the freedom of my natural hair!

Mabelface · 20/01/2019 19:19

First used henna when I was 21 and I'm still red at 49,although I use normal dye now as it's less faffy. Red suits me much better than my natural mousy brown.

Nnnnnineteen · 20/01/2019 19:26

Never have. Lucky to have hair that makes me happy and now the grey is coming (45) I'm interested to see how it goes. And I'm inherently lazy - if I can't find inclination to go to the hairdresser, I'm unlikely to find it regularly enough to maintain different coloured hair.

hatethinkingofusernames · 20/01/2019 19:26

When I was about 13, been blonde for years and last week I went grey/silver it's actually really nice I'm just worried it's gunba fade really fast! How funny I'm paying to go grey and others and paying to hide the grey. Always want what we don't have 😂

ManicUnicorn · 20/01/2019 19:30

About 17. A few years back I grew it all out and had a break. I don't really have much grey, only a few silver strands in my crown, but Ive had them for years and I die my hair because I like doing so not to cover anything up anyway. My hair is a really dull brown colour naturally.

viccat · 20/01/2019 19:51

Dyed it dark and red tones a lot in my late teens and throughout my 20s. Then pretty much stopped in my early 30s. I have some greys now but I like it - my face looks younger than I am so at least they make me look a bit older, hopefully! Plus I'm too busy and too lazy now to spend time and money on it every 4-6 weeks.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 21/01/2019 01:43

I stopped dying at about 30.

I'm now 45 and grey all-ovdr.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 21/01/2019 01:43

All-over.

PyongyangKipperbang · 21/01/2019 01:56

Started dying at 13, still at it 32 years later. The grey started a couple of years ago.

domton · 21/01/2019 02:03

Dark brown hair. Dyed it from mid 20s, got feed up of dying it about 4 years ago at about 35. I thought u hast been totally get some i was about 30 and i was right. Have been natural silver for about 3/4 years now i think. Hated the dying regime, though i do it very occasionally now with a silver dye, for conditioning. :)

RedRedBluee · 21/01/2019 05:23

15 I dyed it a slightly darker shade of brown.
Then red, then auburn, then brown again, then blonde.
Ten years later I’ve decided to just leave it alone and let it all grow out.

Booksandpens · 21/01/2019 05:42

I died it when I was a student, but haven't since. My scalp is so sensitive, it's probably not a good idea for me! And because I barely go to the hairdresser once a year, it just wouldn't look good for long. I'm not too keen on my natural hair colour though, so I'm thinking about cutting it quite short. No white hair yet that I've noticed (apart from my facial hair Hmm by the way, how did that start growing so fast???)

Dontstepinthecowpat · 21/01/2019 05:43

I’ve been going grey since 16 so since then, by 21 my regrowth has been completely grey. I’ve gone blonder through the years as easier to disguise. I was very happy when platinum grey was on trend but it wasn’t kind to my hair so back to stepford highlights for now. I’ve had every colour previously.

vampirethriller · 21/01/2019 11:32
  1. I've always dyed it either red or black, it's naturally brown but I started going grey aged 17. It's pure white now (under the dye) and I'm 36. I'm not ready to let it grow out yet!
NorthEndGal · 21/01/2019 11:39

Started at 17, stopped at 40
I have a few sparkle hairs, they just look nice and glittery, so I dont mind
I just am not fond of the growing out stage, and realizing I actually quite like the colour of my hair in the raw
