A song has been annoying me all day, and I cannot for the life of me remember the title. I’ve typed the lyrics in and it’s just coming up with another totally different song, or a nursery rhyme!
All I can remember was that it was in Cold Feet ages and ages ago when I first heard it. It sounds quite a melancholy, sad song. The chorus is ‘Star light, star bright, first star I’ve seen tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might....’! That’s all I can remember , and when I type it into google, Madonna’s Lucky Star comes up!

It was sung by a male voice. Perhaps the artist was the Brothers? If anyone can help me find this song I would be very grateful!

Lucky star by Madonna? And a cover maybe!

RebeccaL2 · 19/01/2019 22:50

No it is not that song unfortunately!

youngestisapsycho might be onto something.

Starbright was a song by Kenny Loggins and sung by Jim Brickman.

RebeccaL2 · 19/01/2019 22:51

No, it’s definitley different verse lyrics to Madonna. Madonna is the reason why I’m having such a hard time finding it, it’s just coming up with lucky star (definitely not a cover)

Could it have been a Righteous Brother song? They were out in the 60's

The Everly Brothers "Bye Bye Love" mentions stars.

Or there's "A Teenager in Love", that mentions asking the stars up above.

MunchMunch · 19/01/2019 22:59

You can ask Siri if it can name the song by humming it. Although she couldn't identify me humming a song tone deaf

If you google Cold Feet soundtrack, it comes up with Amazon cds to buy with a list of the songs, see if that jogs your memory?

GlitterPixie · 19/01/2019 23:01

Starlight Starbright by Eva Eastwood featuring Peak Brothers?

RebeccaL2 · 19/01/2019 23:03

I’m tone deaf as well don’t think Siri would understand me 😅 no it wasn’t the everly brothers. And there was definitely no woman’s voice on this track, just men!

I'm sure Snow Patrol have a song "starlight, starlight..." or it could be "starlight, star bright...". Can't currently find it but can hear that bit in my head. Did it sound like Gary Lightbody at all?

Dear prudence has it!

RebeccaL2 · 19/01/2019 23:32

Thank you so much! You’ve found it Dear Prudence! How did you find it? Through google? I tried typing it in but it still wouldn’t come up - I think I’m useless!

I knew Mumsnet could help me and put me out of my misery! 😁

What's the cover version that's on an advert or something?

DearPrudence · 19/01/2019 23:45

Yes, googled daydream and starlight star bright and found the lyrics. But once you'd remembered the daydream part and that it had brothers in the artist you were 90% there.

Very happy to distract myself from my streaming cold while I wait for the night nurse to do its stuff.
