Alternatives to that bloody Pig

Dd, nearly 3, is hooked on Peppa. She’s not allowed watch TV during the week, but the Peppa repitition at the weekend is driving me nuts. I quite liked it at the start, but now that we’ve watched every episode 5000 times, I’m inclined towards some nice roast pork.

I’m not in the UK so trying to find acceptable alternatives on YouTube/Netflix. So far she’s said no to that black bunny thing, that thing with the Elves (Ben and someone?) and Paw Patrol. Any other suggestions please? Preferably something that will not make me want to shoot myself in the head immediately. Grin

Thank you in advance

I sympathise. My DD said her first word this week. It was Peppa.

NeptuneNellie · 19/01/2019 19:58

AppleKatie · 19/01/2019 19:58

Team umizoomi
Fireman Sam
Gigglebiz
Fireman Ted (and the others in that series)

KipperTheFrog · 19/01/2019 20:05

raa raa the noisy lion
Twirlywoos
Hey duggee
Postman pat
Ben and holly (although I see you’ve tried that)
All firm favourites of both the 1 year old and 4 years old.
4 year old also loves my little pony and blaze and the monster machines.
Avoid max and ruby at all costs!
We have a 3 episode limit for all programmes here, except hey duggee. Ensures we don’t go insane with any one programme.

I don’t want to alarm you either but when my 5 yr old was watching peppa pig, my 9 yr old shouted ‘hey! Come quick! It’s a new episode of peppa pig!’ To my 11 yr old who ran over to the sofa and they all watched it, entranced.

Motown Magic on Netflix- and then she will also be educated on the best musicians!

femalepresentingnipples · 19/01/2019 20:19

We like Dora the explorer. It’s all very wholesome if a bit repetitive. It’s nice that the main character is female while the boy is the sidekick.

BabloHoney · 19/01/2019 20:21

Sarah and Duck.. I happily watch it whether the kids are in the room or not. Chills me right out

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 19/01/2019 20:24

Another vote for Marsha and the Bear. The wolves are hilarious!

MadeForThis · 19/01/2019 20:25

No one has mentioned Calliou yet. Like it myself!!

Singlenotsingle · 19/01/2019 20:26

Llama llama is my dgd's favourite

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/01/2019 20:29

DS liked Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Come Outside. Even though he is now 18 he still likes Balamory and Tikkabilla - doesn't watch it on his own, but if he's with his little nephew.

Foodylicious · 19/01/2019 20:31

Shimmer and Shine

QuestionableMouse · 19/01/2019 20:33

Nephew is obsessed with Steve and Maggie.

brizzledrizzle · 19/01/2019 20:35

Serve her bacon sandwiches and tell her that Peppa is no more?
She'll go off one or the other.

tomhazard · 19/01/2019 20:35

Masha and the Bear. There's not much dialogue Grin my 3 year old loves it and the 6 year old also enjoys it

MarieKondo · 19/01/2019 20:37

All the Julia Donaldson books in film versions. I love the animation and the sounds are soothing. Stick man, the Gruffalo, room on the broom ect

FlyingCat · 19/01/2019 20:40

Hmm about 50% of the recommends above my daughter didn’t get into until 3.5/4... for a straight transfer from peppa i’d suggest maybe 64 zoo lane or tinga tales as nice gentle (and reasonably parent friendly) options.

Sienna9522 · 19/01/2019 20:40

My daughter loves Peppa and Ben and Holly equally. She’s also watched a series called ‘spirit’ which is about about a horse with the name of the title. She chooses her preference now ‘pig’ ‘ben’ or ‘horsey’. She’s 2 in a couple of months. I find it adorable. I liked all the shows the first 10 times, now I’m going insane! She’s big into sharks and ‘fishys’ though so nemo and shark tale are also hits.

FlyingCat · 19/01/2019 20:42

Oh, and my kids all think the peppa pig them tune has lyrics...

‘Peeeeppa pig,
Slice her up thinly and cover her in mustard,
Peeeeeppa pig’

Grin
TheWeatherGirl1 · 19/01/2019 20:50

Sarah and Duck, even I can bear it

Sproutsandall · 19/01/2019 20:51

Grin Thank you all so much! Flowers Just after I last posted, DD decided she was bored with Peppa and needed properly entertaining, so I haven’t been able to follow up until nowI really appreciate all the suggestions, and also the sympathy. Smile I will do various trials tomorrow as it looks like we’ll be snowed in anyway. Thanks again.

When DS was small he loved Peppa bloody Pig. As he got a bit older, maybe about 5, I really noticed his behaviour change after he watched it. He became really brattish and arguementitive.
Luckily he discovered ‘Brum’ and peace was restored!
I’m not sure if they still show it but I recommend it if you can find a DVD on Amazon on something.

Moominfan · 19/01/2019 20:59

Sesame Street and muppets are all on YouTube. Elmo has his own spin off now
