Alternatives to that bloody Pig

Dd, nearly 3, is hooked on Peppa. She’s not allowed watch TV during the week, but the Peppa repitition at the weekend is driving me nuts. I quite liked it at the start, but now that we’ve watched every episode 5000 times, I’m inclined towards some nice roast pork.

I’m not in the UK so trying to find acceptable alternatives on YouTube/Netflix. So far she’s said no to that black bunny thing, that thing with the Elves (Ben and someone?) and Paw Patrol. Any other suggestions please? Preferably something that will not make me want to shoot myself in the head immediately. Grin

Thank you in advance

We love Masha and the Bear

Believability · 19/01/2019 16:00

My 16 year old will happily watch Peppa. Sorry!!!

IncomingCannonFire · 19/01/2019 16:00

Well she's 3 and presumably cannot operate the tv yet? So just put what you want on TV. David Attenborough or springwatch are educational.
Wink
Seriously peppa ain't too bad it's a bit of a piss take I think
However, Sarah and duck and hey duggee are good. Also dip dap if you can find it on i-player. Super wings, blaze and the monster machines, Ben and holly, octonauts, go jetters
Blippi Grin. My kid thinks his name is spelt B-L-I-P-P-I and wants to visit Blippis house.

Helpmedecide123 · 19/01/2019 16:01

Masha and the Bear is a firm favourite in our house

RomaineCalm · 19/01/2019 16:03

We liked Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Handy Manny and Jungle Junction.

All seemed marginally more bearable than Peppa, Thomas and Fireman Sam Grin.

GruffaloStick · 19/01/2019 16:06

We love Tee and Mo, it's not as condescending as Bing. Postman Pat is bearable. Hey Duggee and Sarah and Duck are great too.
Somehow my toddler doesn't know who peppa is yet, I'm hoping to keep it that way for as long as possible

GruffaloStick · 19/01/2019 16:08

Also have you tried the Julia Donaldson short films - Zog, Stickman, Room on the Broom etc. All approx 30 mins long which seem to hold the attention of a toddler

TeddyIsaHe · 19/01/2019 16:11

Hey Duggee definitely, I like it more then dd does.

Pingu is great.
The Trapdoor - my favourite as a kid and still love it now.

Lollygaggles · 19/01/2019 16:17

Abney and Teal is fab. Any problem can be solved with more porridge or bubbles! Grin

AnnDerry · 19/01/2019 16:42

See if friends with older children (now teens etc) still have their old DVDs of things like Tots TV or Rosie and Jim. They are old and somewhat stately compared to current shows, but stand multiple repeated views.

Rarotonga · 19/01/2019 16:46

Tumble leaf is on Amazon Prime and some episodes are on YouTube. My almost two year old loves it and I secretly do too!

Lollyice · 19/01/2019 16:50

Ds loves Morph and Oddbods on YouTube and you can watch with the volume really low!

explodingkitten · 19/01/2019 16:54

Miffy?

Jessicabrassica · 19/01/2019 17:41

My kids only discovered peppa pig when they discovered the TV had channels other than cbeebies. At 6 ds discovered milkshake but he was definitely a cbeebies boy until then. Are you able limit the channels watched in your house?

BiscuitDrama · 19/01/2019 17:42

Ben and Holly Smile

AiryFairy1 · 19/01/2019 17:45

Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom (jelly flood!!)
Hey Duggee
Ruby and Max
Twirly Woos
Octonauts

GummyGoddess · 19/01/2019 17:50

I quite like octonauts, dh and I sometimes find ourselves watching it when dc1 has wondered off to do something else!

What about cocomelon, bounce patrol or super simple songs on YouTube? None of them are particularly annoying.

No baby shark. Dc1 is obsessed to the point he tries to bargain with us for listening to it during nappy changing, nail clipping, teeth brushing, etc. I can even see him doing the dance in the mirror when I'm driving and it isn't even playing. It's playing now while DH supervises dinner!

GummyGoddess · 19/01/2019 17:53

Regarding the Julia Donaldson films, the gruffalo and gruffalo's child are kind of dark, dc1 (2 years) doesn't seem to mind but I can see more sensitive children being frightened.

Makinglists · 19/01/2019 17:56

Go jetters
Octonauts
Fireman Sam is good if you try and work out the sub plots about whose doing what to who.
Gigglebizz (if Its still around) was fab - one of the few preschooler shoes are really enjoyed watching too.

Never, ever do 'In the night garden' it is the road to insanity.

Drogosnextwife · 19/01/2019 19:48

Topsy and him, Katie morag

moomin11 · 19/01/2019 19:50

Thankfully my DD never really got into Peppa Pig but has always loved Bing which I think is even worse! The best thing she's been into is Team Umizoomi - quite watchable and teaches them about numbers, shapes and patterns.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/01/2019 19:51

My suggestion would be trial Billy and BamBam (my LOs fav)....Peppa won’t then look so bad Wink

TenThousandSpoons · 19/01/2019 19:53

Octonauts. I actually miss it now my kids are older Sad

ShimmeringIce · 19/01/2019 19:55

Second Team Umizoomi though merchandise is limited/extortionate. Pocoyo is mostly tolerable as long as you like Stephen Fry.
Avoid Max and Ruby at all costs!

melissasummerfield · 19/01/2019 19:56

Raa Raa the noisy litle lion has been universally loved by my 3 dc, as was tinga tinga
