Can bailiffs take things without warning?

I've come to visit a family member and I always keep my car at their address as I've not long moved out but can't afford to drive my car.

There's a sticker from their Housing Association threatening to take my car in a number of days. My license is addressed here, my bank and I still receive other letters.

Can they do this without even warning me first?

I'm thinking to move my car elsewhere to stop it from happening.

Is it bailiffs or the HA removing a non resident vehicle?

potatoscone · 19/01/2019 12:18

Where is it parked exactly?

Bailiffs have nothing to do with housing association parking.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:20

The sticker on my car is from the HA. Saying that bailiffs are taking the car away.

Are you SORN?

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:20

No info about the bailiffs. Is it just a threat?

If the car doesn't belong to the person who owns the debt then they can't take it. Whose debt is it?

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:21

It's not SORN, but I was told the DVLA would have nothing to do with it if from HA.

They can seize your car for a debt, and if they’ve put a notice on your car, they WILL.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:22

There is no debt which is weird.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:22

But what what reason? And without warning?

OP posts:
BentNeckLady · 19/01/2019 12:23

Is it parked in a communal car park or on your relatives drive?

Reaa · 19/01/2019 12:23

Call the HA and ask them what the sticker is all about.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:23

It's communal

OP posts:
Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:24

I will call the HA. Just want to k ow if bailiffs can take tho vs without there being a warning first.

Well then they’ve every right to remove your car that you’ve dumped on their land.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:26

I'm asking if it can happen without warning therefore it would be their right.

OP posts:
potatoscone · 19/01/2019 12:28

Does it specify 'baliff'

potatoscone · 19/01/2019 12:29

I'm asking if it can happen without warning therefore it would be their right.

What are you asking if it can happen without warning? You have had warning, that's why you have been able to post about it.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:29

No specification

BentNeckLady · 19/01/2019 12:30

How would they notify you if you’re not the tenant?

Flippidyflap · 19/01/2019 12:30

They have warned you though. They’ve put the sticker on telling you that if you don’t move it they’ll take it. It would probably be best to move it to your new house so that it is off their land.

potatoscone · 19/01/2019 12:31

No specification

So it doesn't mention bailiffs at all?

Not being funny but this is like drawing teeth. What does the thing actually say?

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:31

What are you asking if it can happen without warning?

There's no statement of which debt. I am registered at the address (It's my mums). They could have sent a letter to clarify why this is happening. They've vandalised my car screen window with a massive sticker.

So it doesn't mention bailiffs at all?

It says baillifs. But info on bailiff company.

Robinana · 19/01/2019 12:33

I'm not on my mum's tenancy. I was at uni so I would stay with her when not term time but car always registered at her address.
