Went to see The Favourite. Didnt really want to go but h wanted to. Absolutely brilliant film.

BlackCatSleeping · 14/01/2019 12:12

It might be worth asking MN to add a spoiler warning to the title of thread.

I heard the book had a much darker ending. Literally!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/01/2019 12:12

if you think this is the worst film ever you clearly haven’t seen Fast and Furious 7! I was Furious after watching that Grin

I did, however, like Bird Box. My type of film. I also bought and read the book off the back of it - preferred the film.

@Nesssie Don't get me started on A Quiet Place. I loved the premise and it was well done, but I couldn't get past their immediate stupidity to give a damn. Your world has been taken over by aliens that are attracted by even the teeniest tiniest sound and will rip you to pieces. You've already witnessed one of your young children being killed by said aliens. You know that making a sound is exceptionally likely to mean you suffer a very violent death fairly soon afterwards. So you decide to have sex and have another baby. OK, right... Coz one of those is like the noisiest thing imaginable and the other usually makes some noise depending on the people concerned.

Nesssie · 14/01/2019 12:18

ShatnersWig Oh don't get me wrong, it has a lot of plot holes but I did enjoy it. Plus I can do sign language so that was another enjoyable element for me.

I though the wooden baby crib with the oxygen tubes was what they were going to use to gas the baby! Bit morbid but would be more sensible that trying to raise a baby in a quiet world.

I also thought they probably should have used the running water to drown out noise a bit more. I would be living under that waterfall!

iklboo · 14/01/2019 12:24

It was okay. Not the worst film I've seen. The ending was a bit meh though. Agree Babadook was about as scary as an episode of Mr Tumble.

Heartofglass12345 · 14/01/2019 12:51

I liked it but the ending was disappointing. You clearly haven't seen mother! Though. That was pointless lol.

Drogosnextwife · 14/01/2019 13:11

@golddustwomen

Another one that cried like a baby but then I cry at a lot of films. I also cried like a baby when she was going to pick which child was to look to see where they were going when they were on the boat, it was heart breaking knowing the little girl knew that Malorie wanted to chose her.

AppleBlossomArseCheeks · 14/01/2019 13:12

I really enjoyed it, was transfixed all the way through

Drogosnextwife · 14/01/2019 13:16

@BlackCatSleeping

Apparently in the book everyone in the school for the blind is blind because they have all made themselves blind, think that's the only thing that makes it darker, or so I read.

PuppyMonkey · 14/01/2019 13:23

It was perfectly ok, imho. I actually would have liked to see them expand a bit more on the premise and make it into a full series. Love a bit of dystopian nonsense, me.

midsomermurderess · 14/01/2019 13:24

It was entirely mediocre.

IhateBoswell · 14/01/2019 13:51

Alright build up, shite ending.
I don’t believe for a moment she’d name them Boy and Girl either.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 14/01/2019 13:53

I absolutely loved the book and I also enjoyed the film. It wasn't as good as the book but I thought they did it well.

JuneFromBethesda · 14/01/2019 14:32

Ah that's interesting.

I had the same thought halfway through but then realised it would turn into the Walking Dead / Fear the Walking Dead which lost my interest after a while as it just went on and on.

I love a dystopian disaster film too. World War Z is one of my absolute favourites. I hate to think what that says about me Confused
