It’s mine.
I’m getting ahead for Monday as we are out tonight and get back late and I start at 8am tomorrow.
The bread is that half and half stuff, scrape of spread, onion chutney, naice slice of ham and handful of salad leaves. 25 gram pack of crisps and the other bits.
That’s all I’ll eat from leaving the house at 0720 to getting home at 5pm. I’ll have a bowl of Weetabix and semi skimmed milk at 6.45 and several mugs of tea during the day.
A neighbour of ours was here (returning our cat carrier she borrowed yesterday) when I was prepping it (and incorrectly thought it was for DD, who has school lunches every other week, her choice). She commented that her DD’s school would deem it unhealthy.
Surely it’s not that bad! The crisps are 120 calories fgs.

Would you agree this is a really unhealthy packed lunch..

My word, there’s more healthy in that meal than I eat in a week! I’m not a grass lover in the slightest. I think you know the only unhealthy item is the crisps. The variety is good for you though, mix of colour, fibre and proteins.
Just be careful of grazing for too long though, the saliva and citrus in your orange can be bad if eating over long periods

Nodrama999 · 13/01/2019 14:11

Also, are the children at the school just eating steamed fish and cabbage if this is deemed as unhealthy?!

Creas35 · 13/01/2019 14:16

I would have similar plus 2 chocolate bars as well most of the week and a fatty lunch on a Friday.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 13/01/2019 14:17

Looks fine to me. What's unhealthy about it? The crisps?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 13/01/2019 14:17

What does her DD eat for lunch?

WorraLiberty · 13/01/2019 14:21

You must've asked her why?

newcupcake · 13/01/2019 14:24

Absolutely fine what id call a normal packed lunch

missmouse101 · 13/01/2019 14:24

Looks absolutely fine but don't know why ham can't just be nice (not bloody naice , aarrgh!)

ALemonyPea · 13/01/2019 14:24

I really wish some of the children at the school I work at had lunches like that. You'd be amazed at some of the crap their parents allow them to eat.

Apart from the nuts, that'd be allowed at my school and all the schools my DC go to.

I'd be starving if that's all I had for the day though. Can you not eat your weetabix before going to work?

Knittink · 13/01/2019 14:26

Really unhealthy?! No. If you wanted to be super healthy, I guess you'd avoid the ham (processed meat=bad), the raisins (massively sugary) and the crisps (obvs). But in the grand scheme of things it's hardly terrible!

HelloViroids · 13/01/2019 14:26

Crisps are banned at many schools, as are nuts... but you are an adult Smile

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 13/01/2019 14:27

When are you coming over to make mine for tomorrow OP? Grin

Knittink · 13/01/2019 14:28

I'd have thought the ham worse than the crisps, given that processed meat is now proven to have carcinogenic properties.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/01/2019 14:30

I did say it was mine, she raised her eyebrows.
She will not be borrowing the carrier again!! 😳😳

Your neighbour sounds like a right busybody. If I were returning something to a neighbour's house and saw that their packed lunch consisted of giant Nutella sandwiches with a side order of deep-fried Mars Bars dipped in sprinkles, I think I'd be able to resist commenting, it being absolutely none of my affair.

BlackForestCake · 13/01/2019 14:38

giant Nutella sandwiches with a side order of deep-fried Mars Bars dipped in sprinkles,

That's tomorrow's dinner planned

halfwitpicker · 13/01/2019 14:40

Love me a lunchbox thread

EdWinchester · 13/01/2019 14:40

Apart from the crisps, I'd say it's pretty healthy.

OopsInamechangedagain · 13/01/2019 14:42

Sounds quite a carby day (note I am not saying there's NO protein in there) but if it doesn't leave you hungry then what's her problem? I certainly wouldn't say it looks unhealthy as such.

pisspawpatrol · 13/01/2019 14:47

I wouldn't have both crisps and nuts, but i'd say it's perfectly healthy.

bloggingmumny · 13/01/2019 14:47

It's OK but you have two fairly unhealthy smacks and of course ham isn't that good. Dried fruit has a lot of sugar in it. Are the nuts roasted? Looks like more than one serving.

onalongsabbatical · 13/01/2019 14:47

Nowt wrong w'it lass.
Summat wrong w'it neighbour though.

No idea why I felt moved to do that in that accent.

Perfectly fine lunch. All these things in the context of a whole diet, I presume she knows naff all about your overall diet? Honestly some people just like to judge what other people choose to do with their own stomachs.

carrotflinger · 13/01/2019 14:57

Rude neighbour. Don't know why people think their opinion on such things is wanted.
Eff off.

PlumpSyrianHamster · 13/01/2019 14:59

Your neighbour is rude! It's fine. Any meal excepting quinoa with lentils and dust will get savaged on MN, though. Why just 'a scrape of spread', though?

PlumpSyrianHamster · 13/01/2019 15:01

Everything is fine in moderation. There's no 'bad' food, only too much of it.
