All my windowsills are naked and I want something canny on there that doesn't look shit and cheap, but doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
What's on yours?

Dust, mostly.

treaclesoda · 12/01/2019 20:50

Nothing.

Well, sometimes a cat...

I like a naked windowsill Smile

meladeso · 12/01/2019 20:50

A pot plant or too, decorative glass bottle / jar in bathroom

meladeso · 12/01/2019 20:50

*two!

Littlelambpeep · 12/01/2019 20:50

I have a nice house plant and books on one. Another has a lovely clock.
Another has a jug and blackboard type sign (menu thing for kitchen)

SweetPeaPods · 12/01/2019 20:50

A 6x4 photo frame and a candle

LuluMelons · 12/01/2019 20:51

A dead spider and ladybird. I need to clean my kitchen.

Bluelonerose · 12/01/2019 20:52

Cats decided stuff does not belong on a window sill Hmm

Antiquevintageandrusty · 12/01/2019 20:52

Not very much at all as I have got roman blinds in the recesses.

treaclesoda · 12/01/2019 20:53

I think if you're putting something decorative on a windowsill you need something that looks equally nice from all directions, rather than something that has a front and a back.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/01/2019 20:58

Stones collected by DS when he was small.
Occasionally a cat

TheFaerieQueene · 12/01/2019 20:59

Nothing. I hate clutter.

recently · 12/01/2019 20:59

I miss windowsills! All mine are on the outside.

sproutsandparsnips · 12/01/2019 21:01

Kitchen windowsills have handsoap, washing up liquid and a little box with drawing pins for notice board and spare metal studs for togs.
Others have nothing.
Conservatory has a couple of (dusty) candles.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 12/01/2019 21:05

The cat or the bits of fluff she leaves behind

southnownorth · 12/01/2019 21:06

My cat usually.

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 12/01/2019 21:07

Kitchen has 2 plants, pot with kitchen utensils (not ever to be used) some sand art dds made and 2 decopage houses they decorated over Christmas. That's shared over 3 Windows. Bathroom has 3 tiny cactus in pots. Dd1 has a small white bench with a fairy she painted at a pottery place with lego flowers around it. Dd has nothing today but often sets up her toys on hers

Veronicat · 12/01/2019 21:09

Hundreds upon thousands of spider plants.

delboysskinandblister · 12/01/2019 21:12

white Orchids

Frogletmamma · 12/01/2019 21:18

An orchid, a knife block, some garlic and ginger. Dettol cif pack of cleaning cloths and sponges. Dead moth. Not classy but I have a small kitchen. Thanks for drawing my attention to the dead moth though. It had a rather unceremonious burial in the.kitchen bin.

Same. I had an uncoordinated poor excuse for a cat that would attempt to leap athletically on to the sill and miss or hit and fall off, taking curtains and everything else with him. After 4 vases and far too many other bits ended up smashed on the floor i learned and gave up. I had him for 16 years, and although he died 4 years ago i am completely out of the habit of windowsill ornamentation.

Tigger001 · 12/01/2019 21:22

A piggy bank, beatbo, hair brush, baby wipes, tape measure, one jelly shoe, paired socks, window scraper and my mobile phone.
I keep aiming to have a clear bay window but it just gets used as a shelf for things taken from my toddler

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/01/2019 21:24

So much! Various god and goddess statues, a backlit polar bear scene, a metal house, 2 snow globes.

BF888 · 13/01/2019 00:55

Different things in different rooms but generally:- orchids or bouquets and crystals (large ones)

I have large vases with eucalyptus in, I change this to sometimes berries. I would have pampas grass in the vases but don’t want my neighbours thinking I’m a swinger (not that there’s anything wrong with that if it’s your thing)

I also have ornaments (not cheap ones) with phot frame and candles.

If you want some nice bits that don’t break the bank but look good I’d go to homesense (or home section TK Maxx) it can be hit and miss but some great finds.

Hen2018 · 13/01/2019 01:07

Lots of orchids and a few hyacinths. Upstairs, football trophies.
