IKEA best buys - hit me with yours!

I'm about to do an order from IKEA as I don't have a car. I have to pay for delivery, so plan to get as much as possible in one go.

I love organising (Marie Kondo style), and am looking for your best IKEA buys to help me organise my house (including nursery). What bits and pieces from IKEA have you found useful?

Other non-organising-related but useful buys also welcome!

Thanks!

@Furrycushion my bf does too! He gets halfway round and hates it and wants to leave so rushes me through there every time while I'm still moseying around the flowers and asking if he'll buy me all of them next time we come in... Grin

Next time we go I'll double check but I'm sure I saw wrapping paper there just before Xmas. Didn't look this week when I went although they do seem to be updating areas other new stock now so maybe it's just that? Hmm

Those big plastic bags that you put things like duvets in then use your vacuum to suck all the air out to store away. Very handy.

cocomomo · 11/01/2019 20:33

I love the bathroom caddy! @TattiePants what's it called?

@KungFuFriday what a great tip!

Their kitchen "tongs" they actually call them tweezers in Ikea but people laughed when I called them that on another thread 😂.
Their plant pots are good for the price.and their real plants but not sure if they do them online.

These waterproof bed liners. You dont know they’re there and they just wash normally. Have them on all kids beds.

Blue bags ... perfect for grass cuttings etc, I can lift them when full to get them in the boot of the car and out again at the tip Grin
Ginger biscuits

Jorgezaunders · 11/01/2019 21:06

They've currently got velvet curtains for £40 a pair, 2 m50cm drop. Good value.

beachyhead · 11/01/2019 21:09

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the oval shaped cheese grater thing with plastic tub attached? GrinGrin

TheOtherToupee · 11/01/2019 21:27

I freaking love IKEA!

We have a host of Hemnes items:
Bedside tables
Tall Chest of drawers
Shoe racks
This open wardrobe thing
Display cabinet (for sewing fabric and pattern storage)

All curtain poles in the house are IKEA, they have a double pole system which is perfect for voile / curtain combos

Eket in the kids room for storage. The raised plinth is a nice detail compared to the kallax

IKEA wall system thing in the laundry cupboard, which I love!

And finally my sewing space may as well be sponsored by IKEA, I've used their kitchen countertops for creating a long desk, as well as there pegboard system on the wall.

Oh, and the huge amount of shelves and ribba picture frames

Sighs wistfully at the time I was only a 30 minutes drive from IKEA

ForalltheSaints · 11/01/2019 21:27

I have a bookcase that is 30 years old.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 11/01/2019 21:36

Rotary cheese grater. £3. Absolute life saver.

mammmamia · 11/01/2019 22:44

Antilop high chair

DIMPA storage bags

www.ikea.com/gb/en/search/?k=DIMPA%20storage%20bag

I use them to control unruly duvets and pillows in the linen cupboard.

And to store the cushions for garden furniture during the winter.

cocomomo · 12/01/2019 09:47

@WH1SPERS is that the one another PP referred to, which you can hoover the air out of to make it really small?

OP posts:
WH1SPERS · 12/01/2019 09:50

No, it’s just a zip closing . I’ve not used vacccum bags from Ikea .

WH1SPERS · 12/01/2019 10:08

The DIMPA bags are huge but not very strong ( as you’d expect for £3). They would ony be suitable for laundry, clothing, bedding, cushions, Christmas decorations etc

Tobermory · 12/01/2019 10:17

@TattiePants I was talking about those exact storage boxes this morning to DH. Saw them during our last wander round IkEA but didn’t really how much I NEED some!
What are they called? Do they come in different sizes do you know? Looking for storage for kitchen cupboards- spices, baking small stuff

IroningMan · 12/01/2019 10:26

Everyday stuff: freezer bags, hinged roasting tins.

Storage: kallax with drawers. They fit loads in.

Furrycushion · 12/01/2019 11:54

The dimpa bags are brilliant. We keep our winter/summer divers in them, garden cushions, out of season clothes. DD uses them to transport her clothes to uni as they just gold up & don't take space like suitcases.

DerelictWreck · 12/01/2019 12:21

Skubb boxes, their grid storage thing that you can hook boxes and racks into, clipits and shelf brackets

Rowgtfc72 · 12/01/2019 13:26

Oo! Going tomorrow for sauce pans. What should I be looking for?
We have a beautiful wooden kingsize bed with four storage drawers from ikea topped with a very comfy hòvag mattress!

secondhanddreamsdealer · 12/01/2019 14:00

So many....

The best high chair ever aka Antilope chair

Kallax obviously. You can style it and restyle it as the range of storage boxes is so great. I've recently changed them to awesome bamboo boxes they just released and they look fab in my bedroom

Bedding - 100% cotton. The best.

The crocodile bath mat for kids

Those clips for closing bags

And Godmorgon bathroom series. Great for small bathrooms - especially the cabinets

secondhanddreamsdealer · 12/01/2019 14:02

Oh and Lack floating shelves and those thin picture shelves which I'm addicted to as they are so great for space efficient displays

KatharinaRosalie · 12/01/2019 14:25

Not storage but Flodalen towels are fabulous, better than some fancy ones that were 10 times the price.

Same with Briljera knives - expensive compared to other IKEA stuff, but amazing.

All kids' toys here are in SAMLA boxes. Sturdy and stackable, and they are see-through, so you know what is where.
