The monstrosity that is... All Bran!

I bought some thinking "that would be a healthy alternative to my usual toast laden with butter".

Oh my word!!! How can they sell such a disgusting tasting product? I'm pretty sure it's popular too. Why are there people choosing to eat this stuff? I'd rather be eat cardboard 🤢

Are there any All Bran fans on here? What are you adding to make this taste edible? I have a full box here. Do I need to throw it away or is there something I can add which will dramatically change the taste?

It's awful. Put it out for the birds.

Bran flakes are more palatable.

Aph413 · 10/01/2019 12:40

You can make a cake out of it Grin

greenelephantscarf · 10/01/2019 12:41

it's tasty with berries & yoghurt.
guarantied to make you fart all day

shumway · 10/01/2019 12:41

Leave it to soak in the milk for ages and it goes mushy kind of like weetabix.

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 10/01/2019 12:41

Send it to me I love it. DH puts a handful on top of his normal cereal.

toomanypillows · 10/01/2019 12:44

DS (aged 9) LOVES it. It's his cereal of choice. He sometimes eats it milkless :)

Onebrokentoe · 10/01/2019 12:45

My friend used eat it with ice cream if she was constipated.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/01/2019 12:45

My DH loves it but he mixes it with muesli then adds a load of berries so i am not sure he can really taste it.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 10/01/2019 12:46

I bloody love this stuff. Like, it's my cereal of choice. But I don't buy it because I would eat the whole box in one sitting.
...saying that, the Kellogs version isn't half as good as the supermarket own versions - which may be called high-fibre bran?

MamaLovesMango · 10/01/2019 12:47

I supplement my dogs food with All Bran because she’s fat. Definitely not suitable for human consumption. You want bran flakes, much tastier!

dogmum0 · 10/01/2019 12:47

I love it! Just with coconut milk and Brew

Notmytelescope · 10/01/2019 12:48

There is a lovely recipe for bran muffins - you sort of soak it with buttermilk overnight. delicious!

AppleCrumbleCake · 10/01/2019 13:03

I love it - so does my daughter who calls it ‘worms’!

I eat it with Rice Krispies. (2 thirds all-bran, 1 third Rice Krispies)

Delicious!

AppleCrumbleCake · 10/01/2019 13:04

Oh, and I agree, the cheaper supermarket own versions are nicer than Kellogg’s Smile

Ezzie29 · 10/01/2019 13:06

I love it, but I do put sugar on it so not exactly healthy, I don’t get it often for that reason

halfwitpicker · 10/01/2019 13:07

Make sure you soak the bowl afterwards. Otherwise it sets like concrete.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 10/01/2019 13:08

I wouldn't eat it as a bowl of cereal, but I quite like it with yoghurt and fruit as a topping.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 10/01/2019 13:16

Yes, @AppleCrumbleCake - I'm glad you agree!

Calvinsmam · 10/01/2019 13:17

Dh eats it like crisps, I find it all over the house.

cluxy · 10/01/2019 14:13

My mum used to make a lovely malt loaf out of it - in fact, she still does and packs one in her suitcase when she's going abroad in case she feels the need for some extra fibre when she's away.

CurcubitaPepo · 10/01/2019 14:17

My mil makes a cake using all bran. She calls it toilet cake.

vampirethriller · 10/01/2019 16:21

I knew a man once who's mother made banana cake with it. It was like eating a fruity peat briquette.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 10/01/2019 16:45

"fruity peat briquette" Grin

It was the main cereal of our household growing up Sad Grin
I remember my mum making the cake and declaring it delicious.

I still detest it to this day.

ItchySeveredFoot · 10/01/2019 16:49

I love it. I have it with oat milk. It's really helped keep on top of my ibs symptoms since I started eating it.

Knittink · 10/01/2019 16:50

It's horrible. All cereal apart from muesli/granola is either vile or insanely unhealthy. Sometimes both. I'd go back to the toast if I were you. I've given up breakfast altogether (a.k.a. 16:8 fasting). I don't miss it and it was always my least healthy meal of the day.
