I've just been reading the thread about people not being able to do simple jobs around the home e.g, changing a bulb/plug, and it got me thinking about when I was around 7-8 years old, not only being fully competent and able to rewire an electrical plug, but also jamming into the electric sockets wires from the video player in my bedroom that didn't have a plug (blue wire into left bottom wall socket hole, brown wire into right bottom wall socket hole) and the tv plug kind of wedging them in over the top after seeing my DF doing the same thing with other small electricals.

WTF did I do this? I thought at the time it was probably ok as DF did the same when a plug was missing, but part of me knew deep down it was wrong! TBF DF did go full on gobshite tell me off when he noticed, and unplugged them, muttering he would 'get me a plug', but then forgot, so I never received said plug, so just jammed the wires in again. I would go barmy if my dc did this, and am cringing now at nearly frying myself and thinking I could have caused a house fire too, (to be fair, this was early 80s, so slack on health and safety).

Please tell me I'm not the only knob to have done something so stupid, I've only just thought of this for the first time in decades and feel so daft. How did I not see what I could have done?

Took loads of drugs, mixed drugs, mixed drugs & alcohol. Just idiotic.

As a child I used to run on my scooter very fast then throw myself off onto our front lawn to practice landing safely as I was convinced that I was going to be a stunt-woman when I grew up.

A woman passing by saw me and knocked on the door to tell mum so I had to stop. Needless to say I never got into the film industry.

I used to chew the bars of my cot - painted pre-lead free paint. Played on building sites, played in playparks with concrete bases. Sat in the front of a car with no seat belts, the list goes on. I was a child of the 60s and 70s. I'm surprised anyone of my generation or before survived to continue the species

When I was 19 I was travelling around Canada and I phoned up a tourist office near Quebec to ask about hostels (no internet!) The woman who answered the phone said, why not come and stay with me and my husband instead? So I did.She lived in the middle of nowhere. Still not sure why I did that!

Some risky online dating incidents which looking back now I shudder with the thought of how dangerous and stupid I was. I lied on my profile and said I was 18 when I was actually 16/17 too.

Lots and lots of drugs in very risky scenarios, dodgy flats, squat parties, going back from clubs with randoms, travelling in cars with people driving while high. Again, dangerous and stupid.

It is amazing really that nothing ever happened.

As a kid there was a large, abandoned and isolated house near us. We used to practice demolition on it; using ropes to pull down walls, trashing it while still standing inside. We were thrilled if we actually got something to collapse. It was eventually razed to the ground because of the danger it posed to stupid children like us.

Swimming in the canal / weir (and I wasn't the best swimmer )

Used to sneak out spare clothes so I didn't go home wet, my folks would have been furious.

It actually makes me feel physically sick now and I always feel funny when I walk along the canal.

Also did the playing on building sites / scaffolding.

Had an unprotected ONS (on pill but no condom).

Walked home alone in secluded areas after a night on the town - so post 2am.

They are my most foolish that I can think of atm. I wouldn't do either of them now.

Drinking ridiculous amounts as a young teenager and camping out, sleeping in random houses, fields etc while my mum though I was having a sleepover with friends. Once I got to 18 and started going to pubs - again drinking a ridiculous amount and going back to strangers houses.

We used to jump the river. We also used to play on building sites and climb around the half built houses. One day, a few years later, a wall collapsed and a young girl lost her leg.

Yeah, stupid choices in ONSs and copping off with randos and going off with them whilst off my face and unprotected sex too (on pill but wasn’t always forceful about condoms). If my daughters behave similarly I will have their guts for garters (although saying that, my parents didn’t know what a twat I was doing because I routinely lied like a motherfucker).

Picking up random drinks at smoking area when entering club again. So stupid when I think of it now it makes me cringe.

Oh Jesus I have so many. I was pretty wild from around 14 onwards as I was in care and nobody really cared what I was up to; drinking so heavily that I'd wake up in bed with absolutely no memory of how I got there, taking 8 ecstacy pills at a free party when I was 16, playing chicken on the railway line that ran past the bottom of the garden (when I was about 8), numerous occasions of willfully climbing into a car being driven by someone who was so pissed they could barely stand.....oh my days I look back over those almost 10 years and I don't recognise myself, it's like recounting somebody else's carnage youth. I would absolutely not act like that now, I don't even drink any more.

Wading in the streams in the woods. If it was a hit day sometimes we'd sneak spare shorts and t shirts and swim through the underground pipes on hot days. They werent sewage pipes or anything but they were a fairly tight fit in places where rocks and rubble partly blocked them and it was breathtakingly dangerous. My mum would have gone ballistic had she known.

Sticking a knife in the toaster, not washing vegetables, binge drinking when I was young. I'm very risk adverse now though!

God, taking various drugs and getting in at 6am via a lift from a random, several ONS's between 15-24 (no condom, obviously), sleeping in different places to where my parents thought I'd be... I'd kill my two if they did any of this! 😨

We had a beck at the back of us that the council decided to cover over. A concrete tunnel about 3 feet high was made then covered in earth and grassed over. It was probably about half a mile long and we used to dare each other to walk from one end to the other. I am so claustrophobic now I wonder how I ever managed it.

I drank water from a random pond once as a child, also ate organic mud pies. 😅

Took paracetamol when going on a night out to 'make the booze work quicker'

Drunk cooking - only did that once though as I scared myself that badly

Once (drunk) walked along the tram tracks to make sure I found my way home

I have laughed reading these! I think I have done all - even getting drunk and wandering around Bangkok on my own. Can add New York on my own when it was a murder capital.

Also bunking off school to spend the afternoon at the house of a creepy middle aged CB radio enthusiast - a group of 14 year old school girls!
