CF at the cinema left me speechless

I went to the cinema today with DH today. As I went through the double doors, DH held the door open for a group of 4 women. As I waited for him with the box of popcorn, one of the woman helped herself to some. Then she had the cheek to,say “oh that’s nice”..

I'd have laughed. I think it's funny.

MyDcAreMarvel · 09/01/2019 12:01

Why would her hands be dirty I would t give it another thought, no big deal.

SnuggyBuggy · 09/01/2019 12:02

If it's a stranger you don't know where her hands have been to be fair

IhateBoswell · 09/01/2019 12:03

Cheek!
I once worked in a pretty scabby bookmakers when I was 18, and the only place to eat my lunch was behind the counter.
I had a tray of chips and gravy, and when I was serving someone the customer behind him picked up my fork and put a big mouthful in, practically sucking the fork as he pulled it out of his mouth 🤢
He looked a little like Cyril Smith too. I was too young, embarrassed and disgusted to say anything Angry

She probably had a warped sense of humour. My Grandfather did this. He was at the theatre and a woman came in late to sit next to him, disrupting everyone's view. She had a box of chocolates in her hand and my Grandfather offered to hold them for her and then offered them down the line - by the time it came back it was almost empty!

MorningsEleven · 09/01/2019 12:06

Just before Christmas some guy decided to "grave jump" a table that had just been vacated but not cleared. In the seconds it took me to go over with menus and clear the table, the skanky bugger started eating the leftovers of someone's dinner 🤮

StoppinBy · 09/01/2019 12:28

@morningseleven wouldn't it cross your mind that someone who did that may be homeless or really really down on his luck and broke? I would find that very sad, not disgusting.

As for the OP do you think that maybe they thought you were staff welcoming them in?

mooncuplanding · 09/01/2019 12:46

If she was out at a cinema having a bit of a laugh, I very much doubt she was carrying a deadly bacteria

Is your DH still alive?

See, it was all fine. Gave you something to get emotional about actually.

GoopIsALoadOf · 09/01/2019 13:00

No StoppinBy it’s disgusting.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 09/01/2019 13:15

I'd have laughed and said you're welcome.

1forAll74 · 09/01/2019 13:16

Quite funny, one needs a sense of humour.,, and why do so many people need to eat popcorn and other stuff in a cinema anyway.?

GoopIsALoadOf · 09/01/2019 13:19

StoppinBy so sorry! I thought you were talking about IhateBoswell’s story about the man eating her food in the bookies. Sorry, read that too quickly Blush

QueenOfTheCroneAge · 09/01/2019 13:26

I would have laughed at popcorn woman

I'm with StoppinBy on cafe man. I would have felt sad too, wondering about his circumstances.

Bookie chip bloke - ugh!

MoltenLasagne · 09/01/2019 13:27

I once did this with chips waiting at McDonalds - not entirely sure what I was thinking but waiting for my order at the counter and just nabbed a couple from a tray in front of me without really realising.

Difference is I realised what I'd done and bought new chips with a massive apology. Guy seemed mostly bemused about it but I was mortified.

MorningsEleven · 09/01/2019 14:22

Not where I work, no.

This is a huge bugbear of mine!! It always has been. It never occurs to me that I need to eat watching a film. However I now work in a residential setting with kids and we sometimes take the kids to the cinema. Our manager makes sure we have a shit load of pop, sweets and biscuits for the young people. ( we are allowed to take them in at our cinema) I have given up saying 'but we are only there for two hours and they will be having their lunch, (tea, whatever ) before they go ( or when they come back)' Honestly you would think we were going off grid for a weekend!!

Mind you whatever snacks people take in it will never be as bad as the takeaway Chinese some one once took into the old Cornerhouse to watch a film!!

SnuggyBuggy · 09/01/2019 15:07

I knew there would be what if poor/homeless/dying of starvation at some point

AlpacaPicnic · 09/01/2019 15:11

I seem to remember this move being recommended as a flirting technique for 'sassy girls' in an issue of Just 17 - - about a million years ago--

So she was clearly trying to steal your husband. Track her down and fight the bitch!

MissionItsPossible · 09/01/2019 18:25

I worked with a woman (who I was not close to or friends with at all) who walked past my desk, snatched some food from my plate (Christmas party food), grinned at me and carried on to wherever she was going. I was speechless!

SnuggyBuggy · 09/01/2019 18:31

I fear this is just the start of the collapse of social order

SavageBeauty73 · 09/01/2019 18:35

That's so funny.

I once helped myself to the popcorn of the person sitting next to me instead of my child's. I was mortified and they were very amused.

LynetteScavo · 09/01/2019 18:42

That would give me the rage. I'd probably chuck it at her and say "Have the fucking lot!"

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 09/01/2019 18:49

I would find it annoying. And they are clearly only doing it so people think they are oh so funny and sassy or something. When in reality they are a twat.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/01/2019 18:56

CF for sure!

@Tighnabruaich I remember as a child travelling on the underground or bus and purposely giving Bambi-eyes to anyone with a pack of chewing gum or sweets in the hope that they would notice me and hand one over. It worked often enough for me to keep trying!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/01/2019 19:04

I was eating a meal in a pub once and a drunk woman asked me if she could pinch a chip lol
