If you have had bad cellulite on your thighs and managed to get rid of it, how?

I'm prepared to do lots of exercise, eat sensibly, cut down on alcohol etc but does it work?

Thought I should add I'm not overweight but not very toned!

I have read that body brushing is supposed to be the only thing that helps.

Anxiousandtearful · 03/01/2019 13:42

Would love to know the answer to this !

BarbaraofSevillle · 03/01/2019 13:42

I've had best results from lots of hard cycling. Ride up a lot of hills. Or probably any exercise that works your leg and arse muscles to the max.

BifsWif · 03/01/2019 13:43

Lots of water, minimum toxins - alcohol, smoking etc.

Spinning helped mine but I think if you’ve got it, you’ve got it.

losenotloose · 03/01/2019 13:47

I've been doing spin classes for the last 8 weeks so hoping that helps.

I'm not being rude but I kind of want to hear real life experiences rather than 'well body brushing is meant to help.'

Body brushing works really well for me.

SingingSands · 03/01/2019 13:52

There was a channel four programme on a few years ago with groups of woman trying different measures to get rid of cellulite on their thighs and bum and only group that had marked, clearly visible results were the body brushing group, who brushed every day in the shower.

I resolved immediately to go out and buy one and start brushing my cellulite. But I didn't because I kept forgetting. I did take up running and joined a fitness class though and millions of squats/weighted lunges/resistance band squats etc later seems to have helped a bit!

Daisydoesnt · 03/01/2019 14:03

I've always been slim (I'm size 8 and about 8 stone) but I have had bad cellulite on my bum/ back of thighs since I was about 18. This summer I went on a real health kick, determined to get rid of it.

I signed up for a course of Lipofirm (8 sessions, sessions are about ten -14 days apart. They are very expensive but worth it!!) I also took up running at the same time, ditched caffeine, and also body brush when I get back from running. I think the combination of those last three have made a noticeable difference to the skin on my face which is glowing & pink - I think my circulation has definitely improved there if no where else. And i am sure that improved circulation must also have an effect on the cellulite.

Anyway, the cellulite has gone except for one dimple on my right thigh. I can't say which one of those things got rid of the cellulite, I think it was the combination of all them. And by the way I only really noticed an improvement after 4-5 months.

Ok, so maybe body brushing does help! For some reason I find it really hard to stick to it, more than exercise.

Any more encouraging experiences??

Mine definitely improved with weight lifting, but also a high protein diet to help build the muscle. I also add a little bit of cardio in for a warm up, but don't focus on it.

I have tried body brushing with both a brush and bobbly massage brush but never stuck to it long enough to notice a result.

All gone down the drain in the last few months of pregnancy and cellulite city has exploded all over my thighs! So I cant wait to eventually get back into it.

EssexGurl · 03/01/2019 16:10

Another vote for body brushing. You need to get into a routine, though. I do it before my shower then use Nivea in-shower moisturiser so I don’t have that faff after my shower. That saves time. I really noticed the difference in the summer.

McIntyre123 · 03/01/2019 16:13

I use a body brush by skinny tan it is large and round and used together with their tanning products the cellulite on my thighs reduced pretty quickly! I swear by it. Hope this helps!

WhoTFIsAlanBrazil · 03/01/2019 16:18

I second what @Jigglyjugs said

My cellulite has been vastly reduced in the past 2 years or so (I am about to turn 40 just to put it into context). Mostly due to heavy lifting (I have taken up powerlifting) and changing my body composition through diet (high protein, moderate carbs, low-ish fats).

I don't do any cardio other than a bit of walking here and there and occasionally running to catch my train.

I did try body brushing years ago (I did no exercise at all back then) and it didn't work for me. I was what you would call skinny-fat (quite slim but flabby); I am the same clothes size now but with visible muscle tone and I think that's what made the difference.

losenotloose · 03/01/2019 17:22

I did wonder if weight training would help. I'd love to get into it but have no idea what I'm doing and can't afford a personal trainer. Thanks for all the replies!

I think I just stopped looking!

groundcontroltomontydon · 03/01/2019 17:44

Taking off my glasses helped

parrotonmyshoulder · 03/01/2019 17:46

Maybe that’s it - you hit 40 and your eyesight wanes a bit, leading to lovely smooth skin!

parrotonmyshoulder · 03/01/2019 17:47

I also have quite filthy mirrors...

PouchofDouglas · 03/01/2019 17:48

Spin surely?

NannyMcfanny · 03/01/2019 18:48

I found that cutting down on sugar and bread, and skipping helped me. Skipping stimulates lymph drainage which is good for cellulite apparently, but I saw results.

handslikecowstits · 03/01/2019 19:10

This stuff: www.drugs.com/pro/lymphomyosot.html

Was given to me by my doctor for something else entirely and the cellulite vanished. I think it's to do with lymphatic drainage.

RockinHippy · 03/01/2019 19:57

For me, vitamin B12 injections got rid of it all. With hindsight, I hand always had it, but noticed it came & got worse the more ill I became. I had rate B12 injections for health reasons, but realised after my loading dose that the cellulite had all gone. It might make some sense given that B12 helps clear Homocysteine, which is sort of toxins in the body

Shadow1986 · 03/01/2019 19:58

Always had horrific cellulite on my thighs since a teenager. I still have a bit but no where near as bad. Mine is all down to exercise, I exercise usually 4/5 times a week.

losenotloose · 03/01/2019 20:01

Some interesting replies here. What kind of exercise do you do shadow?
