If you have had bad cellulite on your thighs and managed to get rid of it, how?

I'm prepared to do lots of exercise, eat sensibly, cut down on alcohol etc but does it work?

My 7mo babies have cellulite. I remember reading about cellulite in a magazine aged seven, experimentally pinching my thighs and being horrified by the dimples. Babies and small kids don't consume a lot of toxins. I reckon it's just a fat pattern.

Losenotloose - I started my exercise/weight loss by joining a gym and doing spinning 2/3 times a week, in addition I started outside running. I then stopped spinning and concentrated on running and did body pump in addition. I now just do a HIIT class 3/4 times a week but I can see cellulite coming back a bit so need to get back on the running I think.

I've still got mine but I think it's got worse since I started drinking more coffee (was off it for a year or so). So maybe no caffeine would help?

Quite a mixed bag of experiences. It seems different things work for different people.

Maybe spend less time sitting around looking at your own arse?

Screamqueenz · 03/01/2019 21:09

I gave up alcohol for 3 months and it went completely.

Giving up sugar and running a lot (I run about 40km a week). Over Christmas after overindulging and eating more rubbish and drinking more, it has definitely worsened.

I would say I had moderate cellulite to start with before changing my diet and exercise, now I have pretty much none.

@losenotloose there are plenty of beginners videos for weight training on YouTube, anything from at-home kettlebells training to powerlifting (MegSquats is a good starting point).

The key is to work the whole body with compound movements (squats, deadlifts, Lunges, bench press, overhead press etc.). Start with a weight you can handle for 3 sets of 5-8 reps, then gradually increase the weight to keep it challenging

Unfortunately it’s genetic and some women are more pre-disposed due to hormones. Even as a very slim 20 year old I had it. I body brush before a shower each morning then massage and knead my thighs whilst rubbing in moisturiser afterwards. Lots of water also helps but I seem to have really poor circulation in my thighs which are often icy cold and that doesn’t help.

FangTasticBeast · 04/01/2019 00:03

My friend started weight lifting and it’s totally gone

Lots of people have recommended body brushing to me as well. I’ve just bought the stuff but haven’t used it yet 😳

BWatchWatcher · 04/01/2019 00:09

I agree, when I noticed my baby son had it I decided to stop caring about cellulite.

RockinHippy · 04/01/2019 01:57

I agree it's genetic & that slim people, especially women get it too.

My old friend was obsessed with cellulite, she was a red head & reckoned it goes with the genes, but she hated it, so always noticed it in others. She was a make up artist & worked with many supermodels & she loved that some of them had it too

AFridgeTooFar · 04/01/2019 17:42

Can anyone reccommend a decent body brush which won't break the bank?

skippy67 · 04/01/2019 17:45

I got my brush from Body shop.
