Yes and yes. We spend New Year with friends and for the last few years all the dcs have stayed up (ours are 13 and 9). We had a nice meal and a few drinks, the eldest 2 watched a film, the youngest 2 made dens and had a massive nerf battle then we watched madness on BBC and spotted fireworks as we walked home.

My two party girls have seen the new year since youngest about 5 ish. We go to local friends or they to us and kids friends too so nice and everyone happy

MrsJBaptiste · 01/01/2019 10:32

Yes, our two are 11 and 14 and have seen the NY in for as long as I can remember. We all got to bed at 1.30ish, hence why the kids are still flat out in bed.

We always see friends and alternate parties at each other's houses. The adults drink far too much and the kids stay holed up with the PS4, X-box, etc. We do all play a few games though which can be loud as there are often 20 of us!

Yep. We spend it with friends and take it in turns to host. We have 2 9yr olds and 2 4yr olds between us and they're all allowed to stay up and have done since they were tiny. This year the 4yr olds crashed about 1pm and we carried ours home about 2ish.

*1am!! Not pm

FickleFingers · 01/01/2019 10:49

Yep our 12 & 8 year olds saw the new year in with us, had a lovely takeaway and watched a film and then they saw the fireworks out of the window!!!
To be honest I feel sorry for the kids that get ushered up to bed at normal time every year (I was that kidSad) when all of their peers are talking about it at school they know they have missed out......

They've been staying up since they were about 8 and 6. We don't really celebrate it so it's just nibbles, board games, a movie on TV and watch the fireworks at midnight. We watched a bit of the Madness concert last night but I can't stand Jools Holland's show. We used to stick our head out the front door at midnight but none of our neighbours ever do so we stopped bothering.

drowningincustard · 01/01/2019 11:26

Yes ours are 5 and 2. We watched a nice film, then took took a walk to grandparents who are very close then pipped to our neighbours for the midnight hour. We wrapped up to go stand in garden and watch/listen to fireworks. A final tot of whisky for adults and then all off to bed. Was lovely. We are just getting up now at 11.15ish

Mine are 7 and 10. They stayed up for the first time this year. We just had a quiet evening: food, board games and Books Holland.

Last year my ds (10) tried to stay up but was totally exhausted by 10pm and gave up and went to bed.

AlphaJuno · 01/01/2019 11:44

We went out for a curry with some friends and took baby and 10 yo dd. 12 yo ds stayed home because he was no doubt having fortnite withdrawals after being away at his dad's the previous night. Came home at about 7.30 and cooked ds some tea. They stayed up but were in their rooms and I went and said HNY to them. I was actually sat in darkness feeding the baby to see in the new year.

elQuintoConyo · 01/01/2019 12:19

We had dinner with friends and three 7 yos. DS went to bed at 1.30. We were dancing to Just Dance on YouTube and playing a kind of pictionary with Lego game, there were 9 of us. We also had 12 grapes each, one for each bong of the midnight clock, DS had halved mandarin segments. It was great fun.

Today is picnic on the beach, beach rugby and chasing the dog.

HNY everyone Wine

anxious62 · 01/01/2019 13:01

Yes, DS stays up. He’s our first foot.

NotCitrus · 01/01/2019 13:11

We have a party each year. 10 and 11yos hid in their room, 6yo kept dozing off then coming down until about 11,then appeared in time to clink glasses, kiss everyone, and then decided to go back to bed. 8yo crashed out about 9pm.
