Am I the only one whose festive season isn’t a whirlwind of parties and visitors?

The Sunday papers are full of articles about surviving the party season, having housefuls of people etc.

Are people honestly out every night of the week/having people over every night etc?

Surely most people don’t know that many people (unless they live where they grew up or have very big families, I suppose? Even then, surely it’s not actually like they are honestly going from party to party for weeks on end?)

Starting to feel like an asocial freak!

No you're not. At home there's just me and my OH, his family live about an hour and a half away and mine at local but I'm an only one.

We did nice things at the start of Dec, had his family round for a meal, had a lovely day with loads of booze and food, went on some nights out with our friends but the last couple of weeks have been really dry!

On Christmas Day itself we opened our gifts just the two of us in the morning which was lovely. But I was working the afternoon as I'm a nurse without children yet so normally volunteer. OH went down to his family for the afternoon and Boxing Day, I worked Boxing Day too and then went with my parents to a family buffet at tea time which I have to say left a lot to be desired BlushHmm

I kept seeing on social media all our friends having these big tables full of people and a giant turkey in the middle and wine and I felt extremely jealous. I would have loved a house full all having fun with loads of food and some games. Christmas Day evening I was in bed with the cat after work! Blush

Maybe one day when I have Christmas Day or Boxing Day off it will be different and I will do a big dinner for both of our families or a Boxing Day buffet. Just wasn't my year this year Hmm
