We don't do anything big, usually it's a Chinese, movie and a sleepover/cinema style set up in the living room, usually by 12 we've either all drifted to sleep or are really settled and hear the fireworks to tell us it's new year. This year we're going to visit family for lunch so instead of a Chinese when we're home we'll have a bit of a buffet tea and then do the usual. We've basically done the same thing every evening from the 22nd onwards and it'll continue for a few days after new year. It's been a tough old year so We're definitely enjoying the rest of the time x

Going to a friend party. Can’t waig

Fooferella · 30/12/2018 14:43

I forgot to say that at some point we will be tuning into stv's Scottish new year celebration with Jackie Bird which always makes me laugh because it looks like the LEAST FUN PARTY that was ever thrown. The look of boredom and misery on their faces by the time the bells ring is incredibly amusing.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 30/12/2018 14:44

For the first time in years I’m off to the pub with some friends. Should be fun, but if it gets boring there’s a takeaway on the way home and gin in the cupboard.

My boyfriend is out with his friends, all my friends seem to have parties to go to so it’s looking likely that I’ll be at home with my teenage DS unless he chooses to go to his dad’s.
I’m liking the idea upthread of going to the cinema if there’s anything good on. If not it’ll be a take away, a bath and Netflix catch up!

maskingtape · 30/12/2018 16:27

I'll be spending it the same way I always do - completely alone, watching TV and eating too much.

calamitycake · 30/12/2018 16:34

Our Christmas/NYE sounds almost identical to yours OP! The children have loved it!

crosser62 · 30/12/2018 16:38

Have a fab nye everyone, think of us nhs staff working hard Grin
Night shift nye and New Year’s Day night here.
Hopefully our Jacobs join will be lovely, hope even more to get time to have any of it.

Starlight90 · 30/12/2018 16:38

Having been ill over Christmas ive cancelled my NYE get together. So ive already ordered a chinese take away for DH and the kids and gonna spend it on the sofa in my PJ.im still not up to eating meals so ill probably just have some cheese and crackers.

thebaronetofcockburn · 30/12/2018 16:39

FA. I have an absolutely dire cold.

EssentialHummus · 30/12/2018 16:40

We’re having a traditional Russian NYE, with a horrendous soviet film that Must Be Watched on 31 December, multiple renditions of ABBA’s “Happy new year” and various salads drowning in mayo. It’s not my thing but I’m a bemused outsider (and it does wonders for my Russian!).

drspouse · 30/12/2018 16:41

DS broke all the babysitters so film and bubbly at home! We have sometimes in the past gone out to dinner or once a lovely concert, but nobody really seems to have parties that we are friendly with!

drspouse · 30/12/2018 16:41

Oh but we do have some nice steak in.

TroysMammy · 30/12/2018 16:42

Just my DP and myself. Vension casserole for dinner and the grand opening of the money box we've been saving £2 coins in all year.

Lolly17 · 30/12/2018 16:46

I've never really been big on New Years.

We will be putting our toddler to bed at around 7:30 then me and OH will be cooking a meal together, followed by wine to see in the new year. That's bliss to me!

orangeicecream · 30/12/2018 16:47

Nothing.....saving money as in debt 💷

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 30/12/2018 16:52

Well I'll be finishing work at 6:30 then kicking about for 3 hours until DH finishes work so I can pick him up and drive him home because the trains finish early. Might have a glass of wine and bring in the bells with the cats and DH. Then up on New Year's Day to drive DH to work, drive back home and then go back at night to pick him up. I seem to be running a taxi service!

NerrSnerr · 30/12/2018 16:52

Our 4 year and and 1 year old will be in bed so we'll just watch a film, get a pizza and share a bottle of wine. We used to go out every year pre children but now it's far too much of an effort (and we are too tight to pay for babysitters)

LucyInTheSkyy · 30/12/2018 16:56

Cheese & crackers and board games. Pjs from about 10. Straight to bed after we've seen the new year in. Partied hard last year and spent the next week suffering for it. Want a quiet one this year!

happypotamus · 30/12/2018 16:58

I will be working a night shift. If we are lucky we will get chance to stop for a minute and see in the new year with a cup of schloer and a few crisps.

pineapplebryanbrown · 30/12/2018 17:02

I think a takeaway and movie night snuggled on the sofa then walk to the fence of a very posh school about 1 minute away and watch their massive fireworks display then go to bed at about 12.10.

granadagirl · 30/12/2018 17:04

Same as every year
Bath, pj’s take away and couple glasses wine with few chocs thrown in. Flicking tv from sky to prime see what movies are on.
Not arsed about seeing 12 passed that now at 61 lol

colourfuls · 30/12/2018 17:24

I usually go out with my friends but I'm staying in this year with my 2 year old and 6 month old, looking forward to slobbery baby kisses at new year ❤️

Idontmeanto · 30/12/2018 18:21

Teenage dds have parties to go to. DS is desperately needing his routine back and will go to bed. Dh and I have got an m and s dine-in meal and will go to bed at a sensible time.

Cheesymonster · 30/12/2018 18:56

DH will be working a night shift so it will be just me and 6yo DD. I have got a little bit of buffet food in for us (and Prosecco for me!) and we'll just watch some films. I doubt I'll make it till midnight! Have booked tickets for Mary Poppins Returns for New Year's Day which I'm really looking forward to.

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 30/12/2018 19:12

My dB, SIL and their four dc are staying with my parents for a few days. To give my folks a break we've invited them all to us tomorrow evening and to stay the night. As we were inviting them we've asked dsis and dn too so there will be 5 adults and 7 overexcited dc (ranging in age from 3 to 10) all jostling for somewhere to sleep! It's going to be a mad house...

Ah It'll be fine and I know we'll all enjoy ourselves but if I'm being completely honest I felt obliged to invite them all and really would have quite happily just come home from work and vegged on the couch in my jammies. I'm a bit over Christmas and family at this stage Blush.
