Waterstones seem to do quite well. Our nearest one sells books but also has a cafe using local produce, regular book signings/readings and 'meet the author' type events, and they have pay-per-session weekly clubs on such as Lego Club, book club, creative writing, D&D, gaming nights, etc.
I think Debenhams will go, possibly New Look or Top Shop. There'll be a new shop to rival Primark.
Community clothing schemes and swap shops will become popular, where you can take (for example) clothes your DC have outgrown and swap them for the next size up for a nominal fee. I think weigh shops where you buy dry goods like coffee, flour, pasta, etc by the scoop might make a come back too as people look at how much needless packaging they're using.
Prices will go up. There'll be more nannying from the government as fat tax, calorie tax, and salt tax join the sugar tax.
May will go and so will Corbyn. As soon as new leaders are in place there'll be a general election with a hung Parliament and weeks of drawn out negotiations before we find out who has 'won'.
There'll be riots in the early summer as Brexit either goes through and makes everything that bit shitter or collapses entirely and has to be cancelled or the results of the above election are announced. There are a lot of angry people and a lot of disaffected people who are just waiting for a spark to set them off.
Wills and Kate will announce baby number 4. Queen Elizabeth will pass away after a short illness and Philip not long after. Harry will move to America with Meghan not long after Charles is crowned.
More schools will announced shorter school days to cope with cuts in funding and some will trial "collective home education" with pupils being taught as a class but from home via live streaming/video link because it's cheaper to give every child a laptop and a video link than it is to run and staff a school building.
Flamingoes, squirrels, and monkeys to replace llamas, unicorns, and mermaids.
Food trends will be smoked/smoky everything including desserts, tea and coffee, delicate floral flavours as the opposite trend to the smoky flavours, and Japanese foods and flavours like matcha, miso, soybean, etc. There'll also be more and more bars and restaurants declaring themselves to be 'phone free' zones with mobile phone use either limited to specific sections (like the old smoking sections) or prohibited on the premises.
