What boring thing did you get ridiculously excited about buying?

Lighthearted!

I bought a new fancy mop today and it is the best mop I have ever owned (I honestly do have a life!). It reminded me of when we bought a dyson my DP took a photo of himself with it and we argued over which of us could use it first!

What stupid thing have you got stupidly excited about?!

I bought a new mop yesterday and it's shit. I'm hot-footing it to Argos today to get me one of those babies @showmethegin !

I love buying pears soap, it makes me very happy.

LokiDokiArtichoki · 29/12/2018 10:56

I always get excited about buying new towels. I replace* them every year and love choosing new colours

*dont actually throw the old ones out - I must have about 150 but as my ny resolution is to declutter I’ll have a lot to donate

LBOCS2 · 29/12/2018 11:00

Our new bin. 60l brabantia - life changing after upgrading from our 30l old one. It's so much better! DH and I literally walked around going 'it's just so big! How convenient!' For a few weeks afterwards. Oh dear.

slyoldfoxystoat · 29/12/2018 11:04

Staying alive which hairbrush was it?

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 29/12/2018 11:07

The brand is beurer from Amazon. On Facebook they were£30 and waiting for shipment from America I looked on amazon and saw this one and it was amazon prime!

thismeansnothing · 29/12/2018 11:09

I haven't got it yet (because it's not available till 6th Jan) but I'm getting a new kettle and 4 slice toaster from Aldi. We've had our de'longhi toaster for 9 years but we're down to only 2 of the four slices working and I've been putting off getting a new one as I haven't seen a 4 slicer that has a bagel setting (which I now find essential for doing cheese on toast. And. Well. Bagels) so I'm ridiculously excited that this Aldi one has this setting. Not only that I can get the toaster AND kettle for £50 roll on 6th Jan 🤣

A label maker 🏷

I bought it when I received a big promotion at work.

I still love it.

SilverBirchTree · 29/12/2018 11:12

I also get pretty excited about buying my groceries at Aldi. I like to go through the receipt and tell DH how much money we saved on each item Blush

Ijustwannadance · 29/12/2018 11:17

I once bought a wibbly stick with a kind of large bottle brush on the end, for cleaning radiators

Me too! Love it.

ThisWillBeTheYear · 29/12/2018 11:19

Containers. I have to stop myself buying more Sistema ones. The ones with compartments always draw me in and the fact that they all stack well together is lovely. And then there are the colours. And some have little trays that come out. And cutlery. I could go on. ~ fans self ~

Skubbe storage boxes from Ikea. They are fabric and zip up at the bottom and fit in all our drawers so it's actually a pleasure putting washing away now as all our clothes are so tidy.

I'm going back tomorrow for more!

RainbowCake · 29/12/2018 11:25

@RagingWhoreBag
I know you didn't ask me but this
is the one we got yesterday. £159 down from £299

OH is impressed with how it worked on the car upholstery.

NameChanger22 · 29/12/2018 11:26

I get excited buying paper napkins and wrapping paper. I have a huge collection of both, all beautiful designs.

vinegarqueen · 29/12/2018 11:27

@lemonredwood - had to sell ours on when we moved, to my great sadness, but you could fit a full load on the big one. It worked best if you hung thicker items over two bars though. Pants and socks fine on one bar. Although it is a pain I recommend getting the cover for it as it keeps heat in so stuff dries faster (I used a sheet but I do understand that this is not approved by Lakeland and thus if anything goes wrong it is in your court). Loved it as it could go on overnight and all the stuff would be dry without having to put radiators on!

bettyblueeyes83 · 29/12/2018 11:28

@Sunnysidegold do you have a link to the spice racks? I have cupboard envy!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 29/12/2018 11:29

I love this thread!

I contemplated that Vileda mop and bucket (the whizzy pedal looks fun Shock) but went with the easy twist in the end so I can use the sink as a bucket. I love it!

Also loving the Bieber/Shark, "Chas" Ohlson and LBOCS2's big bin thrill Grin

I adore Aldi too Grin

GingerbreadBlob · 29/12/2018 11:41

I don't get excited about buying anything - not even my new kitchen. I'm a freak!

LemonRedwood · 29/12/2018 11:53

Thanks @vinegarqueen. Are you talking about the Lakeland one though? I can't justify the expense of that. A pp mentioned the dry buddy which is cheaper and I need to know more!

Curlypop · 29/12/2018 11:59

Dyson cordless and my spray mop. Love!

RagingWhoreBag · 29/12/2018 12:19

Thank you RainbowCake Smile

vinegarqueen · 29/12/2018 14:50

@lemonredwood oops yes I am talking Lakeland! I hear good things about the dry buddy but can't personally vouch for it. Grin

GlowWine · 29/12/2018 14:58

Something completely different:
RM animal shaped stamps from 2016, a mint set from a specialist supplier. They will all be posted to people, the first one has already gone on a postcard to a monkey fanatic.

I love interesting stamps but I'm not a stamp collector.

Spudlet · 29/12/2018 15:02

We are going to buy a garden shed this year and make it into a playhouse for DS (logic being that sheds are cheaper than proper playhouses, DS won't get too tall for it, and when he no longer wants it, we'll still have a shed) and I am so excited 😳

Elflocks · 30/12/2018 21:33

Buying an angel for the top of our Christmas tree.
