What boring thing did you get ridiculously excited about buying?

Lighthearted!

I bought a new fancy mop today and it is the best mop I have ever owned (I honestly do have a life!). It reminded me of when we bought a dyson my DP took a photo of himself with it and we argued over which of us could use it first!

What stupid thing have you got stupidly excited about?!

I have a Shark Lift-Away steam mop (and I even sent DH a text to see if it had arrived while I was at a Justin Bieber concert Grin . Ha! Bieber . 2nd to a Shark)

I get stupidly excited over detergents . I only buy certain brands , so if I see something new (in the chosen brands) I'm sniffing it to see if it'll make me buy it.
At the moment I have colour powder/colour liquid/bio powder/sensitive powder/ delicate liquid and an EcoEgg !

vinegarqueen · 28/12/2018 23:34

Heated clothes airer from lakeland, before we moved. In fact, Lakeland really is my boring shop of dreams.

WobbleTime · 28/12/2018 23:35

Carpet cleaner (washes the carpet and upholstery). Should have been £300 and got it for £150. It’s fab. And I’m not into cleaning at all and I enjoy using it. Carpets look brand new!

showmethegin · 29/12/2018 01:09

@70isaLimitNotaTarget What's an eco egg?!

showmethegin · 29/12/2018 01:10

@vinegarqueen I've been looking into those, how long do they take to dry a full load?

SirNilsOlav · 29/12/2018 01:16

I'm not vinegar but I also have and absolutely love the heated airer!

My disclaimer is that I do 90% of wash cycles late night, habit from when I had cheaper night electric! So I've not timed exactly as I finish, load airer then it's bedtime but the majority of stuff seems to dry over night for me. Depending on how big a load I do it sometimes doesn't all fit but I can normally hang the smaller thinner stuff that dries okay by itself on the normal airer then the stuff that needs a hand on the heated one.

Birdsgottafly · 29/12/2018 01:19

A dry buddy, it's been a life changer, though. I much prefer it to a heated airer.

A magnetic square for the kitchen, you can put knives etc on it.

Internal shelving and undershelf racks for my cupboards.

Argos version of a kallax unit.

Birdsgottafly · 29/12/2018 01:22

Bicarb and Hydrogen Peroxide, gets rid of smells from anything, flooring, carpet, great whilst I've got kittens and I let my rabbits have a hop about indoors, over winter. Likewise Elbow Grease stain remover.

WhatOnEarthDoIDoNow · 29/12/2018 01:35

I can't wait till I can buy a pressure washer Grin I'm not even 24 yet and get giddy thinking about it I promise I do have an actual life but they're fun to use and soothing to watch.

fifipop185 · 29/12/2018 01:39

@WhatOnEarthDoIDoNow I looooove our pressure washer. So satisfying to use!

I've just ordered a nice refillable notepad for work, in purple. Cannot get any more boring than that. I do love my stationery. Grin

WhatOnEarthDoIDoNow · 29/12/2018 01:42

@fifipop185, Love some nice stationary scribbles that matter do really pretty notebooks. They're not refillable though. I'm currently looking out for a proper fountain pen that squeezes the ink into it rather than the cartridges.

RagingWhoreBag · 29/12/2018 02:27

@WobbleTime can I ask where you got your bargain carpet cleaner from and was it recent? I need one but can't justify £300. At half price I might just stretch to it.

Upsy1981 · 29/12/2018 08:42

After months of having a barely functional freezer, I am ridiculously excited about my new chest freezer that is coming next week.

Sarcelle · 29/12/2018 08:54

Anything that relates to a storage solution. I got these little plastic unlidded containers in various shapes from Chas Olsen which fill a drawer so I can store all my jewellery (of the costume variety). Such pleasure when I open the drawer and see it all arranged and findable.

Sunnysidegold · 29/12/2018 09:31

A spray mop. Makes me clean my floors much more regularly so they stay nice and clean. Especially the light tiles in the kitchen. Just chuck the pad in the wash when you are done. It was 15.99 in b&m.

Ikea spice racks for inside cupboard doors. I bought the jars too and labelled them all.and have them.in alphabetical order. The rest of my house may be a mess but opening that cupboard makes my heart sing! Oh and the labelmaker I bought.

showmethegin · 29/12/2018 09:31

@Birdsgottafly thank you for the tip! We have a kitten who is suddenly have a "ooh spare bed nice place to wee" phase so will be testing that out

@LookImAHooman razor hook link, it’s an add-on item I’m afraid.

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000TOADD6?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title&tag=mumsnetforum-21

LookImAHooman · 29/12/2018 10:27

Thanks - ah, it’s a similar suction one. Will see if there’s some sort of over-door version.

LemonRedwood · 29/12/2018 10:28

I need to hear more about the dry buddy as Lakeland haven't discounted the heated airer enough for me to actually buy it!

Can you fit a full load on it? 2 full loads? Is it noisy when it's on? How small is it when folded away?

RogueV · 29/12/2018 10:29

I’ve just purchased a Dualit toaster and kettle. Can’t wait till they arrive Grin

Shockers · 29/12/2018 10:30

I once bought a wibbly stick with a kind of large bottle brush on the end, for cleaning radiators.

So much fun!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/12/2018 10:33

showme

It's a plastic capsual filled with some sort of pellets ( i've used other brands before , can't remember where I got them) you use instead of detergents. Your clothes dont get the build up , rinsing is easier and less fading.
There's no smell (which some people like I suppose) but you can get lavender or floral ones .

I use them in DH black clothes mainly but the EcoEgg is in a laundry bag because they are notorious for spilling (though I think its when they're opened and refilled)

I bought a Slow-Cooker recently , much delight . Made chilli, pasta sauce , soup, heated the Christmas Pudding Xmas Grin

Pressure washer on the patio slabs is a work of wonder .

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 29/12/2018 10:37

I bought an ion brush from Amazon after seeing one on Facebook. It is amazing. My hair is smooth and shiny after just a few uses. I love it.

ThisWillBeTheYear · 29/12/2018 10:38

Ummed and ahhed about getting a washer dryer as I hadn’t seen many good reviews but don’t have room for separates. I put it on a timer overnight and by the morning laundry is washed and dried. Marvellous.

Xmasfairy86 · 29/12/2018 10:43

Cordless vacuum! I love it and will tell anyone who will listen about it 😂😂
