Whoops! I think I drank that a little too fast. What have you discovered this Christmas?

I've just discovered that Prosecco and Advocaat makes a lovely cocktail. (I think I'll call it Snowball Royale).

And when you've finished the prosecco, Lidl 's Strawberry & Banana Smoothie also makes a lovely cocktail with Advocaat.

Oh, yes, and I'm a lightweight GrinHalo

my personal favourite:

Amaretto
Prosecco
cherries in kirsch

Add a cherry and a spoon of the kirsch into the bottom of a champagne glass, add a dash of amaretto and top up with prosecco - tastes JUST like a cherry bakwell tart!! FAAAAAAAR too easy to drink

Knittink · 27/12/2018 17:54

Bleurgh! Way to ruin prosecco! I can't be doing with all these sweet, creamy drinks - I prefer my booze to be booze, not dessert. Grin

Knittink · 27/12/2018 17:55

Ooh that sounds good though, Unreasonably - I love cherries!

I have m and s eggnog

What can I have it with?

JellySlice · 27/12/2018 18:02

Ah, well, you see, Knittink, there's prosecco, and there's Prosecco. Prosecco is delightful and definitely to be enjoyed unadulterated. But then there's mediocre prosecco. And it is criminal to waste an open bottle, even plonksecco.

Cherry Bakewell cocktail

Ooh I’ve discovered a lovely Christmas cocktail - it’s called a ZaZa and a member of the household staff at Sandringham told me Her Maj loves it and I should give it a go.

It’s half gin and half Dubonnet (dodgy looking 70’s cocktail ingredient but don’t let that put you off...), with ice and a slice of fresh orange. It’s delicious and I have one on the go as I type Smile

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 27/12/2018 19:18

The Bakewell tart thing sounds amazing. Placemarking so I don't forget.

Last Christmas I discovered that half creme de cacao and half creme de menthe in a shot glass tastes just like an after 8 mint.

This year I discovered the joy of a hip flask full of Glenfiddich I stashed in a bag before a couple of gruelling days at the in laws Grin

Knittink · 27/12/2018 19:27

there's prosecco, and there's Prosecco

Yes, I'm with you there, but if I'm going to adulterate some mediocre prosecco, I'd still rather do so with something not too sweet and definitely not creamy. I think Baileys and advocaat are works of the devil!

sparkli · 27/12/2018 19:32

@DuggeesWooOOooggle apparently it's known as 'gin and it'!

sparkli · 27/12/2018 19:33

My new, very lovely, NDN handed in a bottle of homemade limoncello on Christmas Eve. I can confirm it is amazing with prosecco!

greenpop21 · 27/12/2018 19:35

Salted caramel vodka anyone? Hic.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 27/12/2018 19:59

Sorry sparkli what's a gin and it? I don't think any of the drinks I mentioned contain gin?

MIL bought me a litre of the stuff though and I'm not a big gin drinker so a couple of gin cocktail recipes would be great!

purplepingu · 27/12/2018 20:07

Marks and Spencer Clementine and Cranberry Bucks Fizz. Was that nice we went to buy three more bottles on Boxing Day!

cheerylilthing · 27/12/2018 20:14

For kahlua I'm partial to it with coca cola/diet coke
They did some sampling at a festival I worked at years ago & I'm pretty sure that my favourite concoction they made with it was simply kahlua, ginger beer & lime (like the vodka cocktail but with kahlua)

Longdistance · 27/12/2018 20:17

Amaretto in hot chocolate to warm your cockles 😋

NumptyMum · 27/12/2018 20:21

@cheerylilthing thanks for the tip re ginger and lime, I love ginger beer. I'd been wondering about coke but my local Asda had sold out before Christmas! Will add both to the new year shopping list...

April2020mom · 27/12/2018 20:21

I had three or four glasses of wine last night. I’ll try some of these Christmas drinks next Christmas.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 27/12/2018 22:21

christmas gin and tonic....gin (obvs) clementine tonic water, ice and half a satsuma. yum. plus if you have four it is one of your five a day Wink

DragginBallsEEEE · 27/12/2018 22:30

Creamy drinks make me sick.

I'm here for the fruity/fizzy cocktails though.

Fresta · 27/12/2018 22:37

Add a shot of cherry brandy to your mulled wine- you won't regret it!

mamaduckbone · 27/12/2018 22:44

Sloe gin with clementine and cinnamon tonic and a slice of clementine...very fruity and festive Xmas Smile
