Pondering something different for next year - a week in the sun, no cooking, stuff for older teens to do. Tell me about your dream destination please Smile

We're flying to the Algarve for a week tomorrow.

It's cost us £1k for 5 of us including flights, villa hire and car hire.

Can't wait. ATM it's 17 and sunny.

I spent my Xmas in a resort hotel in North Cyprus. Yes the weather was changeable but we did have some sun. It did get past 20 degrees and there were a few people on the beach and in the sea but not us!

The hotel was AI but not full of drunken idiots. It was quiet, relaxing and beautifully decorated. Lovely touches from the hotel, a goodie bag from the management on Xmas day and champagne and sweets in the lobby.

On Xmas day they did table service Xmas dinner in the ballroom with cabaret. Lots of people in black tie regalia. Gorgeous food.

DH and I bought each other spa treatments instead of presents and had our treatments on Xmas day as well as a lovely relaxing swim after breakfast.

We have 2 toddlers and they didn't enjoy it as much as I did but I kept thinking, why haven't I done this before!

I worked as a rep years ago in the canaries and I don't remember any of the hotels there doing Xmas as well as this one did and it was a massive surprise from a country I didn't think celebrated Xmas and exceptional value for what we got.

We went to Mumbai , crazy busy but a great experience and then down to panjim which is well paced to visit the north and south
Mainly Candolim and Colva
Lazy days sunbathing then out for mea in evening
However if you are younger / and or more energetic the beach shacks have music on / dancing / food ti the small hrs
Also a nightmarket in n goa on a sat
Weather was great
It is also cheap to eat out

Just noticed you said late teens , if they are into music / socialising then they should enjoy the beach shacks in the eve but they start pretty
We had no kids with us so it was a different type of holiday

Went to Cape Verde a couple of years ago. Lovely weather and overall holiday but I would say not that Christmassy. Highly recommend it though.
