Cokey. But I th8nk it’s Oakey, not Hokey.
Incey wincey spider definitely.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/12/2018 11:25

Cokey. Pokey is a Cornish ice cream flavour.

Galvantula · 25/12/2018 11:26

Cokey

AnotherPidgey · 25/12/2018 11:38

Hokey Cokey. An unusual lack of significant disagreement for this type of thread Grin

CigarsofthePharoahs · 25/12/2018 12:11

Def Hokey Cokey.
However is "Ohhhh, the hokey Cokey" and repeat or "Hokey, hokey Cokey" and repeat as DH and I can't agree.

Coldhandscoldheart · 25/12/2018 12:32

It’s ooooh, Hokey Cokey cokey. So you’re both wrong ;)

disneyspendingmoney · 25/12/2018 12:43

You do know that the cokey but refers to cocaine and comes from 1920 Harlem dancehalls and the pokey, well that's obvious too.

The joys of nursery rhymes, politics, death, war, plague, sex and drugs

hugoagogo · 25/12/2018 12:51

Hokey Cokey!Xmas Smile

NothingOnTellyAgain · 25/12/2018 12:54

Hokey Cokey obviously I mean what on earth?

Also Ohhhh, the hokey Cokey is correct.

TheRhythmessCarolMan · 25/12/2018 13:28

Xmas Grinwell it's unanimous then. I've obviously been hearing it wrong my entire life 😂

CigarsofthePharoahs
It’s Ohhh, the Hokey-Cokey (three times) followed by knees bend, arms stretch, rah! rah! rah! (Well, I assume rah! not Ra!; but maybe it IS rounded off by casually invoking the Sun God Hmm)

Whatever tune are you using Coldhandscoldheart that you could fit ooooh, Hokey Cokey cokey in?! I suppose a short[er] ohhh lets you get the extra syllable but do people - particularly the wee children who are the Hokey-Cokey demographic - not trip over the words? (Tiny chance total lack of sleep & trying to ignore post-op complications/illness has me overthinking this, yes...)

Also, I now really quite want to do the Hokey-Cokey (not a euphemism) & possibly also play some other toddler group/nursery/Infant School favourites for the craic: In And Out The Dusky Bluebells and maybe There Was A Princess Long Ago. If we play The Farmer’s In His Dell I don’t want to be the dog though: I used to end up with bruises from overenthusiastic patting when I was wee...

Isn’t it something to do with Catholics and Protestants and the Reformation: Holy (Hokey) Communion (Cokey)?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/12/2018 08:21

Hokey pokey is an ice cream.

user1495884620 · 27/12/2018 08:31

Hokey pokey sounds like a porn version of the hokey cokey. "In, out, in, out, you shake it all about." Confused

TheRhythmessCarolMan · 27/12/2018 08:45

So apparently the Hokey Pokey is American/Australian/New Zealandain. Perhaps they couldn't get round the words of the tongue twisting Cokey.

("Ya doo tha ice cream flavour and ya turrrn around....")🎶

Cokey. If you've got a kids party mix lying around, listen to the lyrics.

Incy Wincy. Agree with PP, it's only itsy bitsy if you're talking about a teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini (that she wore for the first time today).

DaedricLordSlayer · 27/12/2018 09:04

Ohhh I've gone all misty eyed, and have an erge to gather the family so I can recapture my yoof. 'there was a princess long ago' was one of my favourites, not because of the princess bit, but dancing and ducking under arms.

DaedricLordSlayer · 27/12/2018 09:06

sorry forgot to say....

hokey cokey and incey wincey

Santasshoe · 27/12/2018 09:10

Cokey

ChesterGreySideboard · 27/12/2018 09:12

Do the Shoogley woogley and you turn around

Where are you getting that from?

Philomensapie · 27/12/2018 09:13

Cokey

Paranoiasettingin · 27/12/2018 09:18

Cokey. Pokey sounds a bit rude Grin my friend used to say hunky dorey instead if honkey dorey but thats another story. Okey dokey OP?Smile

Paranoiasettingin · 27/12/2018 09:19

Sorry other way round- she used ti say honkey instead of hunkey! Typying fingers....

3out · 27/12/2018 09:30

Slow coach or slow poke?
The kids say the latter, and as PPs have said, it’s a little cringey 😂

FestiveNut · 27/12/2018 09:32

Isn't slow poke a pokemon? Or did I make that up?
