I mean think we’re equal, great, don’t objectify usnor take advantage of us. Just thoroughly like us as a sex.

For me, I get good vibes from Jason Momoa, George Clooney, Andrew Lincoln and the guy who plays Black Panther.

I haven read it but surely hes trying to sound like one of the lads when we know he probably isnt. I do think he supports women though.

Im not interested in Clooney strangling himself. It sounds completely made up.

Chris Martin is a good guy. Theres been loads of rumors about Andrew Lincoln not been a good guy.

theLadyofShallnot · 23/12/2018 00:14

Not Nicky Campbell. Oh no. Most certainly not. He took great delight in making me look like an idiot in front of hundreds of people. Really chummy with the blokes though.

Nick Knowles was the same. Not a fan of those two at all.

Frankie Boyle was completely respectful.

Andy Murray - absolute diamond in my eyes and Glinner seems fabulous too.

Would love to meet Keanu.

I want someone to assure me that Greg Davies is as bloody lovely as I think he is. Smile

BubonicBudgie · 23/12/2018 00:18

Glinner 🍷

MattBerrysHair · 23/12/2018 00:18

EachandEveryone

Someone who bangs on about how much they like the video to such an awful rapey song just to be considered 'one of the lads' does not respect women. Have you seen the video? It's very young women being ogled by older men who are in very close proximity. It's incredibly demeaning.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/12/2018 01:32

I can’t believe I forgot Terry Crews!

I am wary of any man who proclaims himself a feminist tbh - see for example Matt Damon, who while I’m sure is perfectly pleasant tends to take a ‘I’m a dad of girls!’ stance about everything like it means something.

Joss Whedon is a dick. I’m not convinced by Jason Momoa but I can’t say why. Part of it is undoubtedly because I don’t really trust any man.

Lomondstripe · 23/12/2018 01:46

Whoever said Joss Whedon...sorry to disappoint!

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.vice.com/amp/en_uk/article/xwwag7/joss-whedon-fandom-and-being-betrayed-by-what-you-love

Bradley cooper known to be violent, is he not? Oddly when you google now not much comes up but I swear this has been brought up before alongside Michael Fassbender!

I felt really let down by the way I saw James MacAvoy behave on a chat show - proper leacherous and sleazy then divorce was announced days later.

Idris (not Doris, thanks, autocorrect...) has recently said that men need only be afraid of Me Too if they have something to hide. I mean, the bar is so low it’s on the floor if we’re calling that a win but sadly I think it is given the state of showbiz.

Andy Murray always seems to do his best where he can and seems a stand up guy - knows how to laugh at himself which always helps.

My two that would really bother me if something came out are Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan - i know dornan has form for some pretty unsavoury works when it comes to women (The Fall, 50 Shades, Death & Nightingales) and made a comment re ‘training’ as a stalker for The Fall but I think it was a contextual or not really thinking how it would read in black and white thing. Would break me if Cillian came out as a baddie!

AmIthatbloodycold · 23/12/2018 01:50

I just came on to say Andy Murray too

He's not afraid to say what he thinks

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 01:57

My two that would really bother me if something came out are Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan

I agree that both of these two seem lovely. Jamie's interviews in particular and how he lives a very quiet life with his family make him extremely likeable.

I actually think most men are pretty respectful, just a minority who are not. I don't think you can judge anyone on one comment about a video. I know people who didn't realise the whole blurred lines thing being about rape. Many people don't really listen properly to a song. I like the song, I obviously don't agree with rape. It's just a song.

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 01:59

see for example Matt Damon, who while I’m sure is perfectly pleasant tends to take a ‘I’m a dad of girls!’ stance about everything like it means something.

I think Matt Damon is a good guy. Just bring a dad of girls doesn't make you a feminist , no, but I do think people jumped on some comments he made and some people seem desperate to take offence and make someone appear bad.

Lomondstripe · 23/12/2018 02:02

I thought that - a la ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ - that the lyrics had been taken the wrong way? So with baby it’s cold outside, the ‘problematic’ part was that she felt she had to demur and pretend she wanted to go because girls aren’t supposed to be up for a good time, not that she really wanted to go and was being forced to stay. Likewise thought Blurred Lines, although still gross (that video...) was more about a man trying to persuade a woman who was already halfway there to cheat, rather than force her into something?

Sorry to derail but just wondering if I had picked the whole song up completely wrong!

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 02:02

Shawn Mendes is another who seems an absolute gentleman. Very respectful of everyone and no one seems to have a bad word to say about him. He's very young but seems very mature, always talks about his mum and sister.

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/12/2018 02:13

Harry Hill.

KeiTeNgeNge · 23/12/2018 04:25

Matt Damon is a sleazy misogynistic arse

RJnomore1 · 23/12/2018 04:39

Anthony Joshua? Any dirt on him?

Seems to treat his mum really well which is usually a good sign

And has anyone mentioned Obama yet?

nannytothequeen · 23/12/2018 04:40

Terry Wogan RIP

Sexnotgender · 23/12/2018 04:55

Another vote for Andy Murray!

And the lovely Glinner obviously.

It’s a horribly short listConfused

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 04:57

It’s a horribly short list

I think there will be a lot of men on the list. Most will just be quietly living their lives with their families.

PipGoesPop · 23/12/2018 05:02

You can't judge a book but it's cover or a celebretoe by it's public persona. Unless you actually know these people how can you tell? How many times have you heard stiries about celebs darlings being total cunts off screen?

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 23/12/2018 05:40

Sorry to disappoint about Anthony Joshua.
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/anthony-joshua-sexist-niece-son-british-gq-interview-a8238006.html%3famp

Waves @hellotojasonisaacs - agree Simon and Mark and our Jason!

Yes to John Hamm, Keanu & Ruffalo (I hope!).

Daniel Radcliffe? He has been very supportive of Emma Watson & I haven't heard anything bad about him and seems to be a thoughtful and bright.

Great thread!

MsTSwift · 23/12/2018 05:52

Ken Bruce makes some pretty feminist statements in his cosy chats. Remember him being scathing about the blurred lines video

MsTSwift · 23/12/2018 06:03

Ponders on what makes me perceive a celebrity to be a decent man. For me
Obviously treats women as people
Actively speaks out on women’s behalf (Andy Murray)
Not a cock in his personal life ie doesn’t bin same age wife for 20 / 30 something
No evidence of laddishness / sleazy comments

Know Patrick Stewart speaks out on dv but his wife could be his daughter which puts me off him abit

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/12/2018 06:06

I think one of the depressing things about this discussion (aside from the fact that we even have to have it) is the fact that if you'd asked a few years ago I'd have been saying thing like 'Louis CK' because he used to do a stand up routine that talked about how surprising it was that women would ever agree to date men, considering how much of a threat to women that men are, statistically. And look what he turned out to be like...

Matt Damon supported the Afflecks. Yuk.

Joss Whedon cheated on his wife with younger actresses he was in a position of power over. And gave CC shit for her pregnancy.

Louis CK was a tremendous disappointment.

Morgan Freeman got caught by the #metoo stuff.

Jason Bateman defended Jeffrey Tambor.

Every man I like turns out to be a misogynist arsehole. But if David Tennant, Tom Hanks, Ryan Reynolds, Cillian Murphy, Terry Crews, Patrick Stewart, Graham Lineham and Hugh Jackman all turn out to be wankers, I will lose faith completely.

RebeccaCloud9 · 23/12/2018 07:31

Rick Edwards

spiderplantsalad · 23/12/2018 07:34

I also came on to say Keanu and Andy Murray - I'd be really upset if anything bad came out about either of them. Love the emergency Keanu upthread!

Theducksarenotmyfriends · 23/12/2018 08:00

Peter Dinklage, definitely.
