Check your Tesco orders! Out of stock items

Having my Tesco shop delivered tomorrow. Just went on to add a few more things and 5 things I had on there are now out of stock! Had to choose a teeny gammon instead of the beast I originally ordered. Plus a few other things like pate. Worth checking now so you can make changes instead of getting a surprise tomorrow and having to pop out in to the chaos. Fingers crossed nothing else goes out of stock because I really can't be arsed to go in store Grin

And it's certainly unfair that a customer should abuse him in the car park. I'm very grateful to the delivery folk and always have a cheery matter with them. I didn't complain at the door. But I do think there's room for improvement that people higher up in Tesco might consider.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 21:26

Cheery natter, not matter.

FurryDogMother · 22/12/2018 21:27

If Waitrose can do it, so could Tesco, they just choose not to - as they also choose not to alert you on the day via email if there are items missing from your order. Different operating methods. Teco's website is the most user-friendly, but Waitrose is, in my experience, far more reliable.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/12/2018 21:33

Yes, I have found the Tesco website to be the most user friendly certainly which is why I stick with them.

Also super grateful to the delivery drivers who come out rain or shine.

Still chuckling at the bath mat Xmas Grin.

AllIWantForChristmasIsTomHardy · 22/12/2018 21:54

Just added my extras to my order. Several items out of stock. I've added extras. In the past items out of stock have appeared so who knows what I'll get tomorrow.
No celery in stock which I needed. Guess it's not life threatening!

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/12/2018 22:04

Bath mat. That is amazing.

Smug Ocado customer. I’ve been with them for years and I’m yet to have anything missing or subbed on the Christmas order.

Redyoyo · 22/12/2018 22:07

I just got mine with a whole basket of fridge stuff missing, raging! 25 min wait to speak to them to get it all refunded. Dh is away the 10 miles to the 24 hour tesco with the receipt as a shopping list.
They did say if i waited in all day tomorrow they would deliver it but can't give me a time. Eh no its 2 days till Christmas no one has time for that.

ceeveebee · 22/12/2018 22:15

Chester me too - not a single missing item or substitution on my Ocado order yesterday and I must have edited it 50 times since first placing it.

SmallYappyTypeDog · 22/12/2018 22:24

I gave up on Tesco deliveries due to short dates and crap substitutions. They always subbed stuff on offer for a smaller size but around the same price. The final straw was when I ordered a 2kg beef joint on offer, they subbed it for a 900g joint Angry yet generously refunded the 2p price match difference. The same delivery I got a bottle of filtered milk which normally has 2 weeks minimum date for one which went out of date the next day. I had no time to get replacements either.

Luckily where I live now my local shop is lidl so I have been picking up a basket full each day on the way back from a walk with my baby. I go when it's quiet and am in and out via the self checkout in less than 10 minutes. I have saved a fortune and everything is nice, fresh and is in date for many days instead of 49 minutes after delivery.

driggle · 22/12/2018 22:25

The Quality Street thing was on Reddit the other week. Bloody hilarious Grin I once got hot cross buns instead of burger buns but never anything that ridiculous.

I should have known not to go in and edit things. This is my first year getting my Christmas shop delivered. I have a lot to learn.

Had a list as long as my arm of subs from Asda. Haven't used them online before as normally do Tesco. Most of them were inconsequential really so the only one I rejected was mulled wine swapped out for some sort of echo falls fruit wine to be had over ice. No thanks. 😂

1981m · 22/12/2018 22:37

Got mine this evening from Sainsbury’s. 10 substitutes! I couldn't believe how many there were. They were all acceptable except one which I sent back but 10- come on!

I had been on several times to amend the order too and had already had to change two items because they were out of stock.

Happy though as don't need to do a mad dash to the shops.

Tiscold · 23/12/2018 05:19

Ooh couple of things, the scanners if they don't have the item or whatever do give out some really random shit suggestion Grin and the worker can override it but then that hitsinto their pick rate as it takes longer meanig they can get penalised. So you do normally get the first so called similar thing they find Grin

Guiloak · 23/12/2018 06:04

Ocado customer - no potatoes coming this morning and two substitutions

Last week I had no double cream with no substitution.

How can Ocado have no potatoes?

I live rurally and have a chronic illness.

Bye bye Ocado again.

BillyAndTheSillies · 23/12/2018 10:29

Ours arrived this morning from Tesco. I'd added some extra stuff to the list yesterday and saw lots of "quantity cannot be adjusted" messages.
Amazingly, no substitutes and everything there. Even DH was shocked. Although we'd heard that our Tesco deliveries don't come from the local store but the big warehouse near Waltham abbey not sure how true that is.
Faith in Tesco restored!

sparklepops123 · 23/12/2018 10:31

I had mine delivered other day from Asda which said some out of stock. I went in store day after and it was all there on the shelves!

TheLastQueenOfPop · 23/12/2018 11:34

The payment reserved by Tesco with the bank is around £15 less than the guide price of my order so either suddenly everything is super cheap (yeah right) or I'm going to be missing some stuff - eagerly looking forward to tonight when the order arrives Grin and the therefore inevitable trip to the shops tomorrow

nakedscientist · 23/12/2018 12:08

I gave up on Tesco because of their stupid substitutions, mushroom soup subbed for chicken tonight sauce, vegetarian pizzas subbed for peperoni and a whole salmon which was the centre piece of a dinner party which was subbed for..... nothing.

I use Waitrose or Ocado now and they only missed out celeriac out of my huge Christmas order which they refund automatically. Their few subs are good because I order cheaper own brand and they sub them for more expensive branded alternatives. They also refund at the door any broken or damaged items and let you keep them anyway ( like split flour bag etc). No one needs the hassle of bath mats instead of quality street at this time or year!

ChelseaBabbage · 23/12/2018 12:55

They also refund at the door any broken or damaged items and let you keep them anyway ( like split flour bag etc) Tesco do this as well.

My order arrive and the only thing missing (apart from the nut roast which they took out when I foolishly amended the order)was leeks.

I have a delivery saver with Tesco but use Ocado occasionally, in fact I have a free delivery plan with Ocado at the moment. I agree that Ocado is better in almost every way, but my regular shop would be 20% more expensive if I stuck with Ocado. I could afford it but it feels extravagant.

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 23/12/2018 14:47

Just collected my order. No substitutions ! It's a Christmas miracle ( to be fair the member of staff was equally shocked)!

driggle · 23/12/2018 14:48

My Tesco order arrived and the only sub was instead of a disposable foil turkey tray they gave me a Tesco Value metal roasting tray which I asked to give back, but the driver refunded it and told me to keep it. Obviously didn't get any of the out of stock bits I originally wanted but all the alternatives I'd chosen were there and all the dates are well past Christmas. Unusual for them because my normal weekly shop with Tesco has absolutely crap dates every week! Been to the farm shop today for massive sprouts on the stalk, now I'm a hermit for the next few days 🍷

Ffsnosexallowed · 23/12/2018 14:50

I've ended up with 4 things off finest chicken Gravy. Had ordered one turkey Gravy, saw it was unavailable, ordered a chicken one. They then subbed the turkey one I'd ordered with 3 chicken ones... Luckily they last until Nov 19. I ordered the wrong Stuffing, ordered horrible dried stuff, so popped out for decent stuff. All in all pretty successful.

AllIWantForChristmasIsTomHardy · 23/12/2018 16:10

Mines been. No raspberries which I suspected last night when I logged in to add a few bits. 5 substitut items but I came off better

KitKat1985 · 23/12/2018 16:31

My order arrived this morning. A few subs but nothing crazy. Gutted though that I didn't get the halloumi fries I ordered as there was no stock available!

poshredrose · 23/12/2018 20:33

My asda delivery is on its way. The roulade I ordered was out of stock so it's being substituted with two chocolate tortes. Not similar byt more than three times the price so I'm not complaining.
There's around 20 substitutions but there rest are just the same item but different brand.
