Check your Tesco orders! Out of stock items

Having my Tesco shop delivered tomorrow. Just went on to add a few more things and 5 things I had on there are now out of stock! Had to choose a teeny gammon instead of the beast I originally ordered. Plus a few other things like pate. Worth checking now so you can make changes instead of getting a surprise tomorrow and having to pop out in to the chaos. Fingers crossed nothing else goes out of stock because I really can't be arsed to go in store Grin

HermioneWeasley 🤣🤣🤣 fabulous!!

ChelseaBabbage · 22/12/2018 19:31

This happened to me. Went on to add some more to my £100+ order. The special Christmas Nut roast that I added to the order on 26th Nov was "unavailable" and removed from my trolley.

PristineCondition · 22/12/2018 19:34

Howling at the bath mat

ScreamingBadSanta · 22/12/2018 19:34

Hermione Nothing says 'Christmas' like a Tesco Basics bath mat! Xmas Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/12/2018 19:38

What blackteaplease and some other PPs said. Took me a few years but I have now learned to do the order in advance and resist all temptations to amend the order or to go into the order to check it. At the least, you will get substitutions whereas if you go in to check it and it’s not available then it has just gone.

Gingerivy · 22/12/2018 19:44

I make two orders - a couple days apart. I check the first order after it arrives, if it's all there, I cancel (or modify depending on what else I need) the second order. That gives me a second shot at getting what I need delivered.

FurryDogMother · 22/12/2018 19:47

Tesco failed to deliver my Christmas goose for the second year running - last year they subbed it with three (three!) frozen ducks, but apparently this year there was no appropriate substitution. I complained and they sent me a £5 voucher, which would have looked lovely on the plate next to the roasties and pigs in blankets. I'm a housebound 24/7 carer for my Dad - and all delivery slots are booked until after Christmas - so that totally bolloxed our Christmas Day meal. Totally unacceptable - never using them again. I was lucky enough to have a friend willing to go and find me a goose from elsewhere, so we'll be OK on the day - but no thanks to Tesco!

I like the way Waitrose do it - your seasonal items orders get 'locked in' once you order them. Ocado pissed me off by phoning two days running to ask if I was going to change my order before the cut off time - I wasn't, but cancelled my order with them (and added the items to the Waitrose order) because of the annoying phone calls.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 19:51

FurryDogMother that's terrible. Thank goodness for your friend. Wishing you and your Dad a lovely Christmas day.

FurryDogMother · 22/12/2018 19:57

FestiveForestieraNoel - many thanks, and hope you have a lovely Christmas too :)

SymphonyofShadows · 22/12/2018 19:59

I didn’t get smaller gammon instead, I got nowt Angry. It’s not the first time they have left me gammonless

Xmasfairy86 · 22/12/2018 20:05

Mine is arriving in the next hour or so, not sure what I’m expecting 🙈🙄😂

I keep checking and things keep appearing and disappearing. And the pudd I want said I can’t remove it as it’s been ordered for me, then it says is no longer available for my pre-order 🙄🤔 I missed it last year so when I saw it instore with a date of Boxing Day I grabbed it. If I end up with 2 so be it! Or I hand it back to the driver 😂😂

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 20:08

All my family really want to know where the bath mat comes in Xmas Grin

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 20:14

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 20:20

Hiw the holy hell would someone come up with that

And did hermione keep the mat..enquiring minds need to know

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 20:23

Sorry I thought you'd missed the post!

I'm sure the driver chuckled.

KitKat1985 · 22/12/2018 20:29

Actually just laughed out loud about the bath mat!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 20:36

Thats no problem festive i quite often miss stuff...the point usually

LarkDescending · 22/12/2018 20:43

The Tesco bath mat has just made my day (though perhaps the same cannot be said for HermioneWeasley) Grin

I don’t think we’ve had a good substitutions thread in a while. My previous favourite was the Marigold rubber gloves instead of condoms.

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 22/12/2018 20:56

Just checked mine and they're offering butter as a substitute for dairy free spread. My turkey breast was out of stock too. To be honest I think it's a bit poor given I placed the order weeks ago when the delivery slots were first released . Makes you wonder why you bother

Scifi101 · 22/12/2018 20:59

Were the quality street tins for gifts or family consumption?!? 8 tins?!

Tiscold · 22/12/2018 21:16

You've to remember the people picking your orders do it in store with all the other customers.

They get at 4am xmas week, crowds are busy by 6am and there are hundreds of trollies to get through with about 25 people doing them all. They try reserve as many items as possible in their freezers but they've a limited space and still have to leave stock for other customers.

An example, my dad started at 4am today, by 8am every type of frozen roast potatoes were emptied, they had 8 cages worth out, and all gone. They can't do much more then that.

Tiscold · 22/12/2018 21:17

And yes you order your goods weeks ago but theres something called storage and shelf life. They can't say hey lets take up all out warehouse space storing all these dotcom orders can they?

Tiscold · 22/12/2018 21:19

I realise that I've been a bit snappy Grin, but my dad boess his heart has been up everyday at 4am so far this week, shouted at by multiple people, a customer nearly ran him over in the car park for telling him that he can't park on double yellow lines and been screamed at over the phones as well. Plus he ahs tomorrow off and then working xmas eve and boxing day again so fun fun fun Grin

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 21:22

I don't think anyone's blaming your Dad tiscold. I just think Tesco could improve this aspect of the online service.

Tiscold · 22/12/2018 21:24

Ooh no i agree i was snappy and realise inwas being harsh. They coupd reaply improve i agree, they should really have more dark warehouses that are just for online orders really.
